i really don't know where to start, but i'll begin with this statement. you want him to fold his 89o there, but it was OK for you to call $40 in a splash pot? think about that ... makes no sense. now, let's break down your hands from post 1 hand 1: standard. $1/$2 players don't fold trips ... he had a 9 and thought it was good. it happens. more importantly, what was your position? i need to know why were are playing A9? hand 2: A10 ... meh. hand 3: why are you raising 1/3 of your stack here? limp or go for a reraise/ship pre. what are you going to do with an SPR of 1 if you get called pre and the flop is AK7? give up $15? honestly, i think you have leaks in your game (so do I), but i wish you luck.

be careful what you wish for. with each additional player in the hand, you're chances to win goes down. i got it all-in pre last night ... $212 pot against 3 players. probably only about a 35 percent chance of winning that pot which is +eV since i only put in $50 (i was playing short). did the rare (for me) limp for $2, get a raise to $12, 3 callers, I ship for $50 total and get 3 callers. i rarely limp AA (maybe the second time ever) but i could ee the kid next to me counting out his raise. he wound up with As Ks and turning the nut flush. Nothing like drawing dead with AA going to the river.

no, you don't have to call ... not if you have proper reads, are confident that you can assign a narrow range to your opponent. that said, i think you have to call. i am never happy to put money in the pot when i am behind and i don't want to put $75 in the pot with just AK ... but i think the math and the pokerstove experts will tell you to call here.

What's your favorite hand going to be tomorrow? Seems like it changes as often as people change underwear. My least favorite right now is any high pocket pair. They've gotten cracked like 6 times in a row (lol, small sample size, I know) in the last two nights. QQ, QQ, QQ, KK, AA and AA. Yep. Oh, and JJ. So 7 times. JJ actually held up once tonight but got no action when I flopped bottom set on a Ah Kd Jh board. Run hot as the sun for three days, then cold as ice the next three. God I love playing poker.

just had the sickest run of cards tuesday and wednesday night. tuesday, friend staked me for $140. the $40 turned in handy as i was down to $39. i doubled up, doubled up, doubled up and wound up cashing out for $1,090. $950 profit. wednesday, i continue to stake after giving her her portion of tuesday's win ($500). buyin for $150, drop about $100, rebuy for $140 more. immediately pick up KK and 3-bet all-in trying to look like a frustrated tilter. get called by JJ and flop top set. run it up to $1,365 including about $800 at one of the sickest $1/$2 tables you can ever play at. (another $500 to the staker). tonight was back to moderate winnings with a $217 session. on vacation this week and thinking i might never go back. i wish i felt like i could do even 1/4 this well on a weekly basis. i would quit.

i am not going to defend lhucks personally here, but ... a couple of things: 1) being down $200 over a year at $1/$2 NL is actually a winning player. the rake is a killer. if you play a game with just a slightly better rake system, you are going to up more or down less. let's say the rake where you play is $5 on a pot of $50 or more. say you win 1 of those pots every 2 hours and you play 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. That's $20 a week. That's $1000 a year. see the difference? i have a friend who is a pro - or aspiring pro - who calculated how much rake and bad beat jackpots have cost him since black friday. i think he figured it was probably $1000 a month. i think that's high, but he drags more than his share of pots, so i won't argue with him. 2) RE: 9d 7d argument against Nikki. Nikki, if you're winning, good for you. Keep playing the way you want and feel comfortable. It's your game, your money. But if you can't play suited connectors and one-gappers profitably, you are missing a chance to make more money. Is 8d 9d a much better hand? No, not much better. I was playing $1/$2/$4 the other night ... called a $24 raise pre with 8d 9d on the button. Flop came gin - T76 rainbow. I stacked a guy and won a massive pot ... More than 100 BBs ... for an investment of 6 BBs pre. Suited connectors are winning hands. If you don't believe me, read 'Harrington on Cash.' One of the keys is position. Straights, sets and nut flushes are you how you win big money at low limit no limit holdem live. Oh, and I average more than 100 hours per month and have for more than a year since the casino opened 7 miles from house near Philadelphia.

I find that only really bad players don't see through a paired board. I folded a 3 tonight and the flop came Q33. I was like, 'damnit.' but the guy kept betting and when he fired $60 on the river ($1/$2 NL), I knew he had QQ ... he got called and sure enough dealer says 'queens full of threes' and ships him the pot. the point is, great players can get away from trips.

yeah, me too, and this is how i make money when i'm winning. i flop the set and hold up against two pair or straight draws or flush draws. i play too tight ... i don't play 9/10 suited often enough. it helps to be deep to play those suited connectors. if you're sitting on stacks of $150 or less or the raises are more than $11 or $12 preflop, you really aren't getting the proper odds. i had a guy call my $11 preflop raise with 10 3 suited last night. He flopped two pair, played it passively. I bet the flop and turn and the river paired the 9 from the flop. If he'd have raised me, I would have been faced with a tough decision depending on his stack size.

yeah, i'd like a little more info on whether or not i'd make this play with 88. Blinds, stack sizes, players left to start. if i make a standard 3x raise and it gets repopped and it's still early, i'll probably just fold and wait for a better spot. also, i'm surprised no one has pointed out to giants fan that the kicker does, in fact, play on AKK77 board if both players have an A since 3 pair isn't a hand in the US. AKK with a 9 beats AKK with a 4.

so i'm playing $1/$2 NL sunday night, probably around midnight. pretty boring table. pretty boring hands. not getting a whole lot of hands. table is playing limp happy. i look down at A6o on the button. now, 99 percent of the time i'm going to fold here after a couple of limpers. but i decide, what the hell, let's make it $12 on the button. get 3 callers. flop comes AcAd6c. yowza. check to me and i have to rep AQ or AK here so I bet $25. SB calls. I glance at him, like, what the hell do you want to be in this pot with me for? Turn is a 4c completing the flush and he checks. I bet $50. He snap calls. River is a 2. He checks, I bet $75. He snap calls, flips up the K high flush and I table my nut boat from the flop. Game, set, match. Thank god for chasers and thank god for that club on the turn

you really think he's folding AK on that flop? i don't. he's calling and you're losing anyway. you should just ship it pre or pay attention to the turn. but you know that.

don't like the play. if your goal was to take down the blinds and antes, a smaller raise gets the job done and allows you to play the hand postflop. it also allows you to not get busted by one of the few people in the tournament who can take you out. always avoid going against bigger stacks whenever possible. the goal is to make the money first, then worry about winning. it's a freeroll for you, right? it's also important to know how high the blinds and antes were and what your stack size was. and how close you were to the money. only paying the top 25 in an 800-person tournament is very unusual. it's usually about the top 10 percent.

i've become very good friends with a woman who i met about a year ago. become good friends with a guy i met about the same time. we have a common interest, so it's been easy.

see, i loved going to the grocery store and walking out with my money via western union. they don't do it any more. i never had to worry about the bank reporting extra income or whatever. i also never had any trouble depositing there with my credit card, but now it's been impossible.
