Looking Ahead to FF Redrafts: 2011

I agree with everything except for Bowe being too low. He's extremely legit and will continue to be at least a top 10 fantasy WR with the upside of a top 5 guy. Defenses can't consistently double cover him because KC has a very strong running game, which means he won't get shut down very often (obviously match-ups against Revis, Asomugha, or Bailey are bad for any receiver). Also, he's pretty much the only talented receiver on his team and a very talented one at that, which means he will get steady looks every game. Finally, he has a mediocre to good QB throwing him the ball. Add all of these things up and you get a great fantasy WR.

    Tashard Choice

I started him over Bradshaw . Under normal circumstances he would have had a much better day, but going in the hole 21-3 that early really limited his touches. Also, there weren't any goal line touches to be had so that hurt his value as well. If only Frank Gore didn't go down, my decision would have been much easier. I had to start him in a dome against an Arizona defense that has been terrible both against the run and on offense all season. Sometimes things just don't pan out like they should, although last week when I started Jonathan Stewart against this same defense the results were quite good for me.

    Rodgers...Jennings impact

Well, I have Rodgers and Jennings is both of my money leagues. DOUBLE WHAMMY! Fortunately I got a first round bye in both of them (thanks in large part to both of these studs... and Finley getting hurt, which helped Jennings' value). Unfortunately, I have no real alternatives at WR or QB. My best start this week is Eli Manning against Philly :\. At least I have Run DMC to carry the load.

    Welcome To The Semis

I got a first round bye and am playing my room mate this week. I would easily have the best team if not for the worst luck I've ever had with injuries. My players that have landed on the IR are Frank Gore, Dallas Clark, Ryan Grant, and Mark Clayton. Also note that if Rodgers doesn't play this week, I lose him and Jennings' will score fewer points. 10 team PPR: QB, 2 RB, RB/WR, 3 WR, TE, K, D/ST QB: Aaron Rodger, Eli Manning RB: Ahmad Bradshaw, Darren McFadden, Pierre Thomas, Marshawn Lynch, Tashard Choice WR: Greg Jennings, Dwayne Bowe, Jeremy Maclin, Mike Williams (TB), Johnny Knox, Michael Crabtree TE: Kevin Boss, Brent Celek D: Steelers K: ??? Of all the players I've lost, I really only want Clark back since he was a lock for double digit points whereas my TEs right now are a complete gamble. It would be nice to start 3 great RBs again, but unfortunately I lost 2 of them and don't have that luxury anymore. I still like my chances, but my team is not the lock it should be. This will be the 2nd straight year I've gotten a first round bye and have been knocked out in the semis. I really need to join a league where you get paid for aggregate points.

Congrats to NE - Your 4th Super Bowl Victory!

Brady is playing at an extremely high level right now, however the Pats don't have a fearsome run game and also have a sub-par run defense. They may be able to dink and dunk their way through the playoffs, but they don't have the recipe to win a super bowl this season. I personally don't think there are many strong AFC teams right now, so the Pats will likely make it to the big game if they can get past PIT, however there is a plethora of NFC teams that could probably beat them soundly.

Any sleeper TEs for week 15?

That's because Gronk is a better blocker and is favored over Hernandez in many different instances. He'll be in on all run plays (and usually Crumpler will be the other TE if there are 2), all passing plays where the TE is assigned to block or chip, and also a large majority of the plays against teams with a great pass rush. Against teams with weak pass rushers, Hernandez is the good start.

Watching the NYG-MINN game on computer

Just go back to the main page and try to open the window again. Sometimes if you click something while watching, the video will stop streaming and it will say "offline." Alternately, you may have a firewall that's blocking the connection.

Tavaris is decent, he just needs time to practice with the starters some more. I think the Vikings' offense might be pretty good next season if Tavaris can lean on the running game and produce a few big plays. He's like a poor man's Vick. At least the Giants' running game is looking pretty strong, except for the last few runs. Bradshaw is such an animal. Glad I've been driving his bandwagon for a few years now.

Ya, that site is pretty sweet. Sometimes it says the game is offline, but you just have to re-load the page.

...and the door is closed. The Vikes will score some points late because the Giants seem to shut it down after they have a decent lead, but the GMEN have this game well in hand.

anyone ever bought insurance for a player?

Don't forget that these players were also probably available at some point: Brandon Jacobs Chris Ivory Sidney Rice Jacob Tamme Kyle Orton (for the first half of the season he was a stud) Mike Williams (TB, SEA in that order) Deion Branch (coming on in recent weeks) BJGE (The Law Firm) Brandon Jackson Kenny Britt (had a strong few weeks) You could certainly field a very respectable team from the WW any given season and this year is no exception.

anyone ever bought insurance for a player?

The best case scenario is if you insure a player, they land on the IR, then you end up winning your league anyway. Honestly, fantasy is all about mining the wire. You could probably field a very strong starting team just from people who were undrafted in standard 10 team leagues.

Playing poker online vs. playing at a casino

I have to agree that brick and mortar establishments are far superior to online poker. There's a whole laundry list of reasons why this is, but probably the most important to me are feel and history. In live play you get a better sense of what is going on (or at least I do). You can also pick up on tells that are impossible to detect online (i.e. someone's eyes get very wide or their heart rate increases when they look down at aces or flop a monster... alternately there are tells if someone is disinterested in a hand as well). As for history, you normally play with the same people in live games, even if those players play somewhat infrequently. You can build up a history against these people and use it to your advantage. One example is if you have normally value bet very strong hands on the river against a certain opponent, then after he gives your value bets a lot of credit you start making value bet bluffs with a missed draw (usually should be well concealed) or a middling hand. On the flip side, you also gain great insight into how the other players play. Most people aren't clever enough to take their game to that next level and will play a fairly similar game each time they sit down. You can obviously use this to your advantage. Overall, B&M establishments are vastly better than online games; both for the reasons previously listed in this thread and the ones I have mentioned.

    Dwayne Bowe's Value This Week

Luckily I have a first round bye in the playoffs, so I can take a wait and see approach with him. I'll probably start him week 15 regardless, but have some decent depth if things aren't looking good. I'd be surprised if he cracks the top 25 fantasy WRs this week tho with Cassel out and SD's strong defense keying in on him.
