Agreed. I'll take it one step further. There shouldn't have been live rounds on the set. I'm no fan of Alec Baldwin. I think he's a focking doosh. That said, I don't think the guy should be found solely responsible for this woman's death. However, I think he was negligent with regards to his handling of the firearm in his possession. Whether or not he believed the gun was loaded with blanks is irrelevant. He knew, or should've known, that even guns loaded with blanks can be deadly and handled that gun accordingly. He clearly did not.
  3. I haven't read the whole bill either but this clause would indicate that mentally ill people would not be legally allowed to own or carry. "allows eligible citizens 18 and older to.." Mentally defective people are precluded by federal law from purchasing firearms.

A visual inspection of the loaded weapon might not have been enough. He would've had to have been able to feel the weight of the blank vs a live round and known the difference. His responsibility lies in pointing the gun at her and pulling the trigger. Which he had to have done, whether he meant to or not.
  5. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what is known as common sense gun law.

He could've not "aimed" but merely pointed the gun in her direction and got "lucky." He had to have pulled the trigger though. Revolvers don't fire without the hammer being pulled back, which rotates the cylinder to align the next round, so when the hammer is released (trigger is pulled), the primer is struck, which ignites the powder, that causes the projectile to exit the barrel. If he'd dropped the gun and it landed on the hammer, that could've discharged the round. But that's not what is being claimed. He's claiming he simply pointed the gun towards her and it went off. That just isn't possible. He may escape justice in this case but he definitely bears some culpability. I'm not saying it was intentional. But, based on the limited training he received, he should've known better than to do what he did.

Thanks! After the multiple double bogeys the last couple of weeks I thought it was about to start over before I reached 365. Which would've been at that point.

What? My streak has lasted a year without missing a day or not solving the wordle. It was a goal I set after my first streak ended at 323 or something.

I was responding to this post. Actors are trained specifically to not aim directly at other people when firing weapons on set. The fact that he hit her would indicate that he was pointing the gun at her when he pulled the trigger. The fact that he didn't take precautions to ensure he wasn't aiming directly at her when pulling the trigger should result in a finding of some responsibility for her death.

Blanks, from my understanding, use the same brass and primers as "live" rounds. They just use a much smaller powder charge and a paper or wax "wad" to hold the charge in place. But when the trigger is pulled, that paper or wax wad can act as a projectile. So they are usually only "deadly" from close range, as occurred in the Brandon Lee incident. But, accidents do happen. Which is why actors are trained not to aim directly at each other when shooting.

Not exactly No. Actors are trained that even though a gun is (supposedly) loaded with blanks, they are still dangerous to the point of being life threatening. They are, therefore, trained to point the gun to the side of, or over the head of the actor they are supposed to shoot. They then play with camera angles to make it appear that the gun is actually being pointed at the actor who is supposed to be shot. Given his time in the business, he knew better. He's just a fockin doosh who thought he'd get away with breaking the safety rules this time. He was wrong.

Thanks! I had a few double bogeys in the last couple of weeks which didn't bode well. But I was able to eek them out. I still blame you for making me care about this game in the first place.

Geriatric Joe’s State of Union Address

Not really. Link "There’s something wrong with previous U.S. jobs reports. The government quietly erased 439,000 jobs through November 2023, a closer look at the numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows. That means its initial jobs results were inflated by 439,000 positions, and the job market is not as healthy as the government suggests. Since the government wiped out 439,000 jobs after the fact, the total percentage of jobs created by the government last year is even higher. Increased government hiring has been driving the jobs numbers higher. This matters because U.S. jobs reports move the markets and U.S. Treasury yields. Plus, they are a significant factor in the Federal Reserve’s decisions about the path of interest rate hikes and cuts. All that affects U.S. consumers’ pocketbooks." They just expanded an already bloated government.

New Belgium currently dominates the 19.2 category nationally with their Voodoo Ranger line. SN' "Juicy Lil Thing", Firestone Walker's "Cosmic Crusher" & "Brain Melter" and Elysian's "Juice Dust" (among a ton of others) are all competing for a piece of VR's market share.
