Not exactly. Isreal showed Iran that they have the defensive capability to thwart a missile barrage. While impressive, it isn't enough to deter Iran from trying it again. They'll just send more missiles next time. Showing they also have the offensive capability to strategically strike any target they want has a deterrence effect. It was simultaneously a show of strength and restraint on Isreal's part. They put Iran on notice that throwing temper tantrums is ineffective and should they think about escalating things, their infrastructure can be destroyed at will.

We went out to get a new Blue-Ray player and this movie was one of the only options at the time because the technology was so new. I hadn't heard of it but I needed to have something to play that night. Great movie but, yeah, Mel sure has a way of bringing his vision to the screen.
