It's what they wanted, isn't it? They wanted men to treat them as equals. Well, ok.

    Mass Shootings Maine

I've noticed that GutterBoy has chosen not to respond to my attempts to educate him on this issue. And Tim did the same until he focked up and admitted it was a people issue rather than a gun issue. It isn't the guns, guys. It's the current mental state of a certain, focked up segment of society, that is to blame for the mass shooting phenomenon we are experiencing. Banning guns might make you feel good in the short term but it won't solve the problem in the long term.

I disagree. If you can't guarantee everybody's safety while taking away their ability to defend themselves by whatever means THEY deem necessary, you are responsible for their demise, should it occur. You good with that?

As I've previously stated, NICS, can and should be improved upon. I would much rather my tax dollars be spent on rooting out the head cases that should be investigated before they snap and go on a killing spree. As opposed to taking away everyone else's guns in a foolish attempt to prevent the next mass shooting.

So we agree that laws against the illegal use of firearms don't dissuade criminals from committing crimes. And you've already admitted that it's a people problem rather than a gun problem. So why do you continue to suggest that more gun control is the answer?

Maybe You guys seem to think that an AR is the be all end all of killing machines. They aren't. NATO adopted the 5.56 round, which is essentially the .223 round most AR's are chambered in, precisely because it is less lethal than the 7.62 round that guns like the AK fire. A person using a shotgun with a rifled barrel, slugs, and a drum magazine can do a great deal more damage than somebody else with an AR. It isn't the gun. It's the person using the gun that is the problem.

    A) That won't stop bad guys from doing bad sh!t 2) Once again, you seem to suggest that people are the problem. I think you're blaming the wrong people

Sorry, I thought I was answering your question.

I'm saying the lethality of any firearm is largely based on the shooter's proficiency with his or her weapon of choice. And one person can do as much, or more, damage with a shotgun or a handgun as somebody else can do with an AR or any other semi-auto rifle.

It's my argument. Shooting fish in a barrel is easy. I could just as easily walk into a crowded bar with a shotgun and kill more people than you could with an AR, and in less time.

You're not afraid of AR's, you just don't think people should have them. So you agree the problem isn't guns, it's people.

You should. Maybe it would help you get over your hoplophobia. You might even enjoy it.

As I pointed out to GutterBoy earlier in this thread. So it starts with a ban on so called "assault rifles" and when that doesn't prevent future nut jobs from choosing a different tool, we have to ban those as well. And so on, and so on.... It's best not to even start down that road.
