It's actually more personal than that. You view yourself as a victim to DJT. Your ego ramps up every time he speaks so you can reinforce your identity. Your identity is so wound up in hating him, that if you let your mask of hate slip for a second, it would put your identity into question. That's why every move he makes hurts you so badly.

I'm not the one making grand proclamations in here. I admit there is too much missing info to make accurate judgements on every single thing that happens.
