As a trail runner; bald eagles, bobcats, and mountain lions mostly. A friend of mine has seen a bear but I haven't. Oh and deer and wild turkeys. They are "endangered" around here, so there will be huge flocks of turkeys in neighborhoods.

He is a convicted felon. He was found guilty and is being sentenced. Why people are arguing about this is something I don't understand, but okay. -
Trump is ‘100% serious’ about acquiring Greenland, Panama Canal, say sources close to prez-elect

Yeah, using someone's kid's name is across the line. I don't know that anyone here would actually WANT to do me harm, I am not that special or important. -

My perspective on men is merely anecdotal, and what I've experienced myself. I am sure you have men in your circle that have done things like this to women; whether or not they've shared that with you is another thing. If you don't, good for you. -

The water wars have been going on for decades. Obama even made comments about "not wading into this." Again, some of the folks commenting on this thread don't live in CA and it shows. They have NO idea what we vote on, where the money comes from, etc. They focus on the fact that Trump lied; but aren't seeing our Governor tell the news that "locals will need to figure it out" when the hydrants weren't pumping enough water. -

You realize that So Cal gets the majority of its water from Northern California run off from snow? Where does that Nor Cal run off go now? Why isn't it going to reservoirs in So Cal that we wanted built 10 years ago? -
Why do you all pretend helping the disadvantaged is wrong?
TheNewGirl replied to peenie's topic in The Geek Club
Define disadvantaged? I know of two family/friends personally that take advantage of a LOT of social services and they are 100% capable of working full time. There is no physical, mental or other type of disability that would eliminate their need to work. Are you speaking of people who "just don't make enough" and need food stamps? I contribute and donate to causes that *I* want to, knowing that my tax dollars go to people who use and abuse the system is what frustrates me. There's no checks and balances on that, or limits, etc. There's a limit on unemployment insurance, why wouldn't there be for other types of social services? I am also speaking as a Californian, where a LOT of our tax dollars go to social services of some kind or another. -

From the Prop 1 page: Bonds include money that is borrowed. Over 2 billion of the allocated funds go to protecting rivers, lakes, streams from environmental factors (smelt is one example), only 8 million for regional water security. 83% of Californian's rely on groundwater and reservoirs for water needs. The bonds to be paid back to investors over 40 years. We're 10 years in and they haven't done shiite but protect fish or other wildlife. -

Of course not, but it does show me about the folks here who always comment on CA policy and they clearly don't live here. Those of us that do have been complaining about certain things for years. "Why don't you guys build more reservoirs?" WHAT A GREAT IDEA. -

It's not 100% false tho: Stronger protections for smelt = lack of reservoirs. Crucial for the smelt, but fock you and your house. -

News channel covered it, literally asking the speaker, "Is this the right time to call a special session when there should be one for wildfires?" He didn't answer her. -

The rain is bad because our govt doesn't have enough reservoirs OR they let too much water out of them. I live next to one and it's kind of amazing how much water they let out. Grass grows and then is completely dried out. Poor land management and not cutting it back is just burn fuel....dry/lack of reservoirs esp in SoCal are a big problem. They were voted on and funded, yet nothing. This whole thing and every time there is a wild fire, you see where your money is going...and it's not more fire fighters and fire prevention. It's to the OTHER environmental "things" CA claims. Like random fish, some kind of moth, or a protected type of weed. -

I really don't care. I just get tired of people acting like all of this rich elitism is a problem NOW because of Trump. It's interesting that his book only sold 300k copies, yet the company took in $9.5 million. And his tours were around $2 million. For each speaking engagement he made almost $130K? That's quite the book tour.
