My mortgage loan was sold to some rando company
TheNewGirl replied to peenie's topic in The Geek Club
All of this is normal. Look at other loans you might have or did have. Interest will usually be higher than principle. Occasionally, the longer you pay less goes to interest since the balance of loan is going down. But that's years and years down the road for a mortgage. -
MAGAdoosh pays $4,000 for $400 Taylor Swift guitar he then destroys
TheNewGirl replied to IndyColtsFan's topic in The Geek Club
Why? You donated it and get a tax write off. What's it matter what someone does with it after the buy it at an auction? -
I 100% agree with your spoiler, it was actually making me a little angry. Man the F up.

Yes! Sorry I missed this Thought it was pretty good, the ending was predictable in terms of knowing how the couple operated. Didn't think the dad would come to the end that he did though, that was unexpected. Thought it was a decent movie. Saw "Apartment 7A" this weekend, kind of a prequel to Rosemary's Baby. Thought it was pretty good, also had an ending I didn't really expect which I kind of liked. Also watched "Trap" new M Night movie. Didn't really care for this one, I thought it was completely predictable the ENTIRE time, kind of ruined it for me. I think not even 5 minutes in I knew what was happening, so I kind of lost interest.

Why is American food so much worse than European?
TheNewGirl replied to Frozenbeernuts's topic in The Geek Club
This. The preservatives that we use because we are so busy, plus we have to drive everywhere to get food. Mass production of food products that NEED to last a while. European cities have a TON of smaller grocery stores, bakeries, etc that you can WALK to. When I was in Germany we walked every morning to the small bakery to get fresh bread. The only time we had to really drive was to go to their grocery store, and even then the food we bought (veggies, cheese, meat) had to be eaten within days because there are no preservatives. Europeans also have shorter work hours, close every day for lunch, closed on Sundays. America cannot do that without repercussions. -
This sounds SO incredibly HAWT.

New Study -Turns out the Earth is at about it's coldest point of the last 485 million years

Let's not forget about how lithium is a hazardous material and we haven't figured out a great way to dispose of all of these batteries. Not to mention every ton of lithium that is mined causes up to 15 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, uses massive amounts of water to mine, and creates mineral waste that we have NO idea what to do with. . And...there is a LOT of push back to mine it here in the US...so there is another avenue for us to NEVER be energy efficient. We're basically told to "not put them in the trash" as they are highly combustible and can cause fires. But hey. Buy electric. -

Companies might be gouging, farmers are not. At least not the ones that I personally know. -
Class action lawsuit against Amazon Prime. Who is with me?
TheNewGirl replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
I will say, I did participate in a class action against a major pharmaceutical company after I had a pulmonary embolism in 2011. I got way more than $5.23. Allowed us to move and buy a new house. However, I almost died. And other people in the class action actually did die and had family suing on their behalf. So, if you're willing to put your life on the line for Amazon Prime, go for it. -
Democrats lash out at 'misinformed' Teamsters as union makes landmark non-endorsement
TheNewGirl replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
In CA, the teachers union is one of THE largest campaign funders for Democrats; governor/president, etc. But we are a blue state, so that makes sense. -

Farmers are not getting rich off of subsidies. I know actual farmers, they are family. And due to rising costs of fuel, workers, local state and federal laws, they are suffering and have to increase their prices OR lower them to such a low prices so that someone actually buys their harvests. If selling price is too low, they do not make a profit like they did years ago. This is happening in every farming industry. Companies would rather buy something that's being shipped in from other countries because it's cheaper. Chicken, beef, fruits/vegetables, etc. -
OR, she needs to buy out the husbands half of the house and live there. But no way does she just get the house and/or kids because he's the one who filed.

Good luck going after your $5.23 in the class action. -
Aw man! I bought tix for Saturday. I guess I'll settle just for the James McAvoy shirtless eye candy scenes.

Because why should we pay for them? And have them in already overcrowded prisons?
-
Welp. Too late for CA. We give them free healthcare and soon free houses.
