Mental health professionals aren't going to feel safe going to calls, unless they are also allowed to carry a gun or pepper spray or something like that. Cops find it difficult to respond to mental health calls because it can result in someone getting killed...so it's difficult to say how all of this would work.

She was live on camera telling an interviewer about immigration and how taxes would most definitely go up (even tho she told everyone they wouldn't think about raising taxes). If Dems had a better candidate, then I think there is a much better chance Trump would have lost. Thing was...no one liked her ever from the START. She didn't get enough votes from constituents from jump. I would have considered voting blue had it not been her, had they not suddenly claimed Biden was not fit for the next term and then threw her out there - especially when people had been saying for YEARS that he wasn't well, too much was hidden from us IMO. She didn't do anything great for CA when she was here. God help us if they vote her in as our next Governor. I will agree with you on the trade stuff, and Ukraine but she'd just be sending them more money for a war that had/has no end in sight. Economy would be the same, IMO. Eggs still $10 since that's the barometer we seem to be using. Gas would still be $$ (but I am in CA, so it's always $5/gallon). And it's possible that GOP would still have control of the Congress/House, but again...EOs get signed and fly all over the place now. MUCH better position? I don't think I'd say that. So I am reading that this guys was like the "leader" of some of the student protests on campus over the last year or so; the "face" of the protests and he's been under investigation for some time by the university itself. Not sure if he was ever violent himself, but "leading" the violent protests doesn't really paint a great picture of him either. Esp that most of these groups were saying things like Kill all Jews, etc. Or preventing students from going to certain parts of campus. Free speech is one thing, but endangering students lives, keeping them off of campus, saying that they should "all die" or whatever...not sure about that. Taking it to the BLM thread, but pretty sure that free speech and saying Kill all AA's wouldn't go over well and would be seen as terroristic threats. Anyways. I am not entirely sure this guy is as innocent as he's trying to make it out to be. He doesn't have a VISA tho, he has a green card, which apparently the govt can also revoke.

DOGE is creating these searches that don't really work. Search for the word "Gay" in these documents. It finds references to the Enola Gay. The Enola Gay was a bomber that dropped one of the bombs on Japan. Has NOTHING to do with homosexuality, trans rights, etc. But these "searchers" see the word gay and immediately flag it and remove it. Kind of a ridiculous way to search and "find stuff" to remove, IMO. Search is highly flawed, but is being done by people named "BigBallz" or some other 22 year old kid that has NO idea that the Enola Gay was a plane in WW2.

Starting in July, Gov Newsom instructed all state employees to return to the office 4 days a week. I truly wonder if the govt (state and federal) understand the far reaching impacts this can have on families. Everything increases for them with the return to work. My BFF is a state employee and going back to work 4 day straight a week as a single mother will be challenging for her. Her take home is $3k/month. Half of that goes to rent. Now, she will need to have child care, gas will be well over $5/gallon in the summer months. Not to mention other expenses that come up. So many people unhappy that our Gov just went and made this decision without considering the agencies themselves, or discussing it with anyone.
