If West Coast cities/states are failing, why do people keep looking to CA to "lead the way" in things like education, gun reform, climate change laws, etc? People have such a boner for Gavin to be President...people see Pelosi's city and think that this would be a GOOD thing to spread across the country? Yeah, let's look at where things are failing and try and get THAT guy into the presidency. I don't get it.

Their protests are interrupting all kinds of things; campuses, parades, downtown streets. I think it's completely related if you're going to claim a populous city as a sanctuary cite for an incredibly marginalized and sensitive group as transgender individuals. I can't picture it being incredibly safe for them, but that's just my opinion. I don't think SF is safe for anyone.

And as someone else mentioned all of protests and everything going on? Did they not see the Pride and Memorial Day parades interrupted by the protests? I can't imagine anyone feeling safe there.

Detransitioning is horrid for people, have you read about it? The constant pain for individuals who've had a vagina created and daily stretching that is needed or it will close? I mean, going back to having a from that wouldn't cause any kind of depression? I think 99% is a wee bit high, but okay, I'll believe you. I guess I stand corrected in that transsexual is an outdated term and is no longer used; historically it was used to refer to someone who took steps necessary to change their sex (medications, surgeries). Transgender individuals do this, but since they don't base it on physical traits, they over look the "sex" part of it? At least that's what I am reading. All of this is fine with me, and truly doesn't bother me, live your life how you want. If you know anyone in the trans community, they most certainly DO go for the drugs as treatment as one of the first things. I know a transmale personally. Originally a lesbian, married another woman, and then slowly transitioned to female, and when she brought this up to her doctor, they didn't recommend therapy, they recommended testosterone. Please don't tell me that I am not accepting because I am. I am just not accepting of these things being done on children.

Dysphoria is the mental illness. The treatment for dysphoria is the transition drugs/surgeries in some circles. They don't want to revisit the other kinds of treatment like actual gender reaffirming care (let's talk about why you think you're a girl in a boy's body...they go straight for the, oh you're a girl in a boys body? Here's some drugs). I think this area of mental health really needs more research before we start passing laws for children and what parents can and can't do and decide on. Children are different in that the human brain is not fully developed until the age of 25; this includes several areas of reasoning, etc. You're allowing adolescents to make life long irreversible decisions about their bodies; castration and infertility just being a few. Watch people who wish they'd never transitioned, or knew more about the process (it can be extremely painful for LIFE). Detransitioning isn't an option for so many of them; that's what creates further mental illness and depression. I just wish that parents and children looked at the BIG picture of this. Torrid, do you know any transexuals in real life?

The maruchan ramen I don't eat very often, mostly when nothing sounds good, or when I am not feeling well. I really like the momofuku ramen, though so I will have that more often. It has more protein. I think Costco also makes a more "healthy" brand that's not terrible, but I don't eat that often either.

My mother has it. It's an incredibly heart breaking disease. The only perception I have of it is that kills you to watch someone die from it and it can rip families apart. I don't really give a fock if anyone in either political party has it, and it's not shaping any of my perceptions of political candidates. If Biden (or Trump) indeed has this and their families ARE aware, it's horrid that they are allowing either one of them to run as Presidential candidates. I am just making an observation; given what I've seen first hand every day for the last four years. If you have never had a close family member die from this, you're lucky.

I disagree. Less than 30% of our residents can afford a home and we have the highest unemployment rate right now and businesses, people, and large corporations are leaving left and right. We have the highest tax rate, highest gas prices. Insurance companies refuse to insure. Car insurance is up 22%. Median home price is $900k. A LOT of the country talks sh!t about CA, and I have a lot of very close friends that sold their $1.2 million dollar homes here that were 2100sq ft and bought literal mansions in other states. Sooo...I don't think other states want to be us. You're jaded.

I disagree. I've spent some time over the last few years, starting in 2020 around people and patients in various locations with stages of cognitive decline; including my own mother. He walks like he has a form of dementia; small shuffles, steps. He trips over his own feet often, usually very early signs when we lose our balance. Older people hang onto hand rails, other people when they walk for fear of falling. He looses his way frequently, even when it's moments after going up onto stage or off of stage. He falls asleep at odd hours (old people do this, and in cognitive decline and brain issues, sleep is more frequent). People who've had strokes sleep A LOT right after, sometimes up to 18 hours a day. His speech, fumbling of words, losing track of what he was saying, slurring, etc. All of this is a sign of aphasia, although usually in later stages it's possible to happen anytime. There are times that he's able to hold it together, during speeches, press stuff, but I would bet money the days following he's got a LOT of down time and stays in bed a lot or goes on a long vacation somewhere. Go to an old folks home or a rehab center. You'll see a lot of people who walk and talk just like him, many of them have some form of cognitive decline or they wouldn't be there. Trump has cognitive decline, but he's not like this. Most of the time he's just a blithering douche bag who needs to sit down and shut up.

Unfortunately, that Governor will be President one day.
