Literally ALL of those areas are NOT San Francisco. Certainly not the downtown areas of SF. Comparing SF to South SF and Santa Cruz/Monterey is just ridiculous. Santa Cruz is like 70 miles south of SF, and Half Moon Bay just north of that IIRC. And Yountville? Literally in the heart of Napa County. Of course you're seeing the nicer parts of the freaking CA WINE country. So ridiculous to say you think "SF is just fine and beautiful" and proceed to compare it to wine country. JFC. Tim is CA rich. He doesn't think out of the box and does NO research at all.

What outlying areas? Do you have specific cities that are outlying that are amazing? I am genuinely interested in hearing your opinion.

Oh man, I wish those weren't behind a pay wall.

So, I am reading about this. If the property values tank and nothing is there, govt buys the land, or big corporations do. They get grants from the govt, create a society dependent on the govt and their work there is done. Kommiefornia. Problem with this is, no one will want to work or better themselves if they get hand outs, likely wouldn't even work in the collective farms or businesses. Sounds like Gavin and his plan for the nation.

Oakland has closed several large stores and restaurants. One of the most notable is their In N Out burger. Chain has been around over 75 years and NEVER closed a store. First store closed - Oakland. Due to the crime. But hey! There isn't a crime problem in CA! What are you guys even talking about?!

Mother of teen shooter found guilty
TheNewGirl replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Negligence is that she knew he had an issue, yet took no steps to protect himself or others; they didn't need to and couldn't prove intent unless they had actual proof that she said, "Here is a gun, go kill some people with it." Then that's an entirely different charge for her. She also hasn't even been sentenced yet, which could be a few years to decades. It's involuntary manslaughter. Again...same charge if she killed someone with her car and her son wasn't involved at all. She (and her husband, who goes to trial separately according to the article) were negligent about their son and his danger to others. Adding: The more I read my own response, the more I am okay with this outcome for the parents. They knew he had an issue. They did nothing. Other kids died. Yeah, they need to do the time. -

Well even the article states this: They must have shown that she willfully disregarded the fact that her son could harm someone and/or that he was a danger to others...and she didn't take action to try and prevent that. Either disregarding that he needed help, or being negligent about firearms. Good. She should be reprimanded. Be a responsible gun owner and don't be a shiiite parent. -

That is what is confusing me too...I remember that I was under a pretty tight leash while I was living at home and under 18. My dad had firearms, so therefore no friends over when my parents weren't home. It was a pretty strict/rule in my house. I am glad the mom is being held accountable, isn't this what a lot of folks are asking for? More accountability from the parents for the teens and younger folks who end up getting a hold of guns and end up killing people? Why are we thinking this is suddenly a bad thing? -

Do we really know WHO is going to be a mass shooter? I don't even know which case you're referring to, so I can't really comment on his mental state, mental health history, access to guns, etc. If you have a son who is an alcoholic and you have unlocked/unsecured liquor in your house, you could be held responsible...or if he has easy access to a vehicle, or if you're the insured. Even if he isn't drunk and goes out and kills someone you can be held liable. -
They are counting on it. I mean isn't the #1 issue for our country climate change? Our "biggest threat?"

The next county over from me still has a few hundred residents without power. I really really want to ask how cars are being charged over there. -
Zirra was a big fan, sang a lot of his songs when we used to do karaoke. Saw him in concert a few times.

There are some in the Hollister area too, I believe. Altamont pass is a big one, these are all near the Bay Area. -
Also, just realized that I am registered as no party preference which means I can't vote in the primary. Went online and updated that REAL quick!

His primary goal right now is buying up a bunch of land in Hawaii and essentially colonizing the area with his own cow farm.

Because they use words like "living wage" and "workplace protections." If those cost a company more, of course they pass that onto the consumer. That's the part that always gets me....you want $20 for McDonalds workers? Be prepared for your kids Happy Meal to go up to $10 instead of $6. (Or whatever they are now, I don't know). They THINK and they WANT you to believe that the CEOs and Execs are the ones that will take the cut for this stuff, but why? They just pass it onto the little people.

We only have them for a couple of things and it's always higher in the winter, now it's higher ALL year. It's only our heater and we do have a gas stove. This year it tripled in one month when the colder weather hit. -
