Right, 2nd degree is all about the "intent." First degree is usually premeditated when it comes to intent.

2nd degree is having a loaded weapon with the intent to use it unlawfully. Criminal possession of a firearm just means he had the firearm illegal; maybe he didn't own/register it in his name, or could be a weapon that was outlawed by that state - this includes the size of the magazine if there was one. As a dealer he should know bout local laws, but then also probably has items that are against the law or thinks laws don't apply to him.

Any idiot can tell the difference between a little water spot vs OIL. And, if you can't tell, then you pat your fingers on it, and then if it doesn't smell like water then you need to go get it checked out. Not for passport renewal, but for a NEW passport, you have to provide all of that again. My passport expired and I needed a new one, despite having one that was only 6 months past renewal date I needed to provide ALL of that again. SS card, birth certificate, marriage certificate, and whatever else passports require. My husband and kids don't have passports. We are working on that this year, but there is ONE post office in our area that doesn't require appointments and they only take 20 people a day. People line up there at 5am everyday. To make an appt they are at least 2 to 3 months out.

Scheduling appts is fine, but it's mostly getting together all the documentation you need that people struggle with. Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates if you changed your name, proof of residency, etc. It was a LAUNDRY list that I had to bring to DMV, and then my kids too.

CA started in 2018. Was supposed to start in 2008 after the law passed in 2005, but there were "delays." I'd be willing to bet there are thousands of Californians do NOT have their REAL ID yet. Looked it up - 15 million CA do NOT have Real ID yet...35%.

Unfortunately, the "defund" movements don't always cut funding, just staffing. So these cities have the same amount of money to go towards LEOs, but people don't want to BE LEOs.

I really don't have a choice. My family is here. Until in-laws and parents are gone...this is it. Trust me, if it were up to me, I would have left years ago. I do, however, encourage my kids to move if they want to. My daughter most likely won't live in CA when she's older.
