  1. That no-goal call last night was correct
  2. Makes you wonder how many goals were missed in the days before replay. I remember one in particular, a late season game with playoff implications in '90 or '91. I think it was a Flyers game. A guy took a slap shot that went under the crossbar and hit the rear crossbar, which at the time had no padding, so it "dinged" like any other shot that hits metal. No one noticed, everyone kept playing and they finished the game. ESPN showed it the next day. I think that play was why the NHL implemented replay.
  3. Funny how the officials missed it the first time. It looked good to me from the get-go on my TV

    Sheila Jackson Lee: Astrophysicist

So the moon is made of gases? I knew that Neil Armstrong was a little light in the loafers
  5. I didn't really give a rat's ass, but they handed out eclipse glasses at work, so I grabbed some. Everyone was just milling about outside at work, so I said fock this, I'd rather watch this with the wifey than my co-workers. So, I went home and caught the peak there. We were at 94.4%. I was more impressed with the slight overall darkness outside than the sun itself, which just looked like a waning crescent moon. So, it was basically meh.

    Trust the Science.

If true, I could have driven to Uranus and back during my lifetime.

    Nuclear fusion breakthrough

No, "boyo" is just cringy and stupid. I'm not looking at the last 25 years in "wonderment". Sure, some everyday tasks have been made simpler and I can order a pizza from my phone, but big advances in areas like nuclear fusion, molecular electronics and nanotechnology just have not panned out like they were predicted 25 years ago. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

    Nuclear fusion breakthrough

I'll be 60 at the end of the month, so you can drop the "boyo" schtick with me, Slappy. I've also been a mechanical engineer for 37+ years and I've worked with my share of physicists over the years. I love their optimism, but like I said, not in our lifetimes...

    Nuclear fusion breakthrough

Ahhh ...the nuclear fusion breakthrough of the month. Nuclear fusion...the clean energy source that's been "25 years away" for the last 75 years. I'd love to see it, but it ain't happening in our lifetimes

At least you can fall asleep right after sex. I mean, they have each other to talk to.

What One Book Have You Read The Most Times

My 2nd favorite Clancy book, after Without Remorse. I think the only book I've read twice is Hunt for Red October

    Rangers Bruins tonight...

Jack's been losing it the last couple of years. You're right, he has trouble keeping up with the action. He also has developed some kind of slurring speech where he just can't enunciate simple words properly. You'd think he had a stroke, but he claims he hasn't, and no doctor can figure out what's wrong with him. He was replaced for a few game stretch a couple of times this season, but the guy who replaced him was boring as hell. Jack may have lost it, but at least he gets people talking
  24. I posted that from the sh!tter at work. I was drawing a blank, and remembered as I was washing my hands.
  25. I don't think I've really paid attention to it since the early '90s. The only college basketball player I could name right now is that chick from Iowa. What's her name again?
