What are the dumbest rules in sports?
Thornton Melon replied to JustinCharge's topic in The Geek Club
A football field is 160 ft wide and 360 ft long, including the end zones. Teams should be as reckless as they want within that boundary, and if you don't recover an opponent's fumble within that boundary, you don't deserve the football. -

Nah...the NFL loves Taylor Swift, so the rule will be changed next year (as it should) -

Makes sense...most of my experience with CT is southern (Groton/New London area) in the late '80s to mid '90s. It was a definite NY sports team vibe. -

I consider Connecticut part of New York. It seems to have that mindset, especially when it comes to sports teams. They're more NYC than they are Boston. -

Is it me or is there Pass Interference on almost every pass play?
Thornton Melon replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
I don't mind a little bit of contact, but what I hate is the "arm-bar". Seems like DBs are getting away with it more and more, and WRs are expected to make one-handed catches all the time. -

Anyone getting Peacock for the Chiefs game?
Thornton Melon replied to supermike80's topic in The Geek Club
I'll be watching the Bruins-Blues game and checking my phone for the Mia-KC game, so.....no -
I'd like to see Vrabel as coach, too. I can't believe Mayo is supposedly the favorite. I wouldn't mind Vrabel as HC, and Mayo as DC.

The game was played at the Tsongas in Lowell. My sons used to play there once in awhile for youth hockey. I think there were more fans at my sons' games.

I actually watched about 27 seconds of the Minnesota-Boston game last night.

NFL vs NBA TV Ratings: Who had the highest viewership on Christmas Day 2023
Thornton Melon replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
We had the NFL games on all day on Christmas in the background while we had people over, and I watched the whole BAL-SF game because it had fantasy relevance to me. Even with the Celtics playing, I never considered changing the channel to the NBA. -
GOP Texas AG blocks abortion of dead baby
Thornton Melon replied to The Psychic Observer's topic in The Geek Club
You can't tie abortion to the right to privacy because at some point, there is another life involved. At what point that fetus becomes a life is up for debate, and as such, it has to fall back to the states per the 10th amendment. There was no law created by the Dobbs decision at all. -
Also, that's the first time I got drunk. Six shots of brandy during Christmas Eve celebration with my cousins.

If this board is around in 25 years, we'll still be talking about the latest "breakthrough" in nuclear fusion. -
