No, "boyo" is just cringy and stupid. I'm not looking at the last 25 years in "wonderment". Sure, some everyday tasks have been made simpler and I can order a pizza from my phone, but big advances in areas like nuclear fusion, molecular electronics and nanotechnology just have not panned out like they were predicted 25 years ago. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

Thanks, skids

I'll be 60 at the end of the month, so you can drop the "boyo" schtick with me, Slappy. I've also been a mechanical engineer for 37+ years and I've worked with my share of physicists over the years. I love their optimism, but like I said, not in our lifetimes...

Ahhh ...the nuclear fusion breakthrough of the month. Nuclear fusion...the clean energy source that's been "25 years away" for the last 75 years. I'd love to see it, but it ain't happening in our lifetimes

At least you can fall asleep right after sex. I mean, they have each other to talk to. -

What One Book Have You Read The Most Times

My 2nd favorite Clancy book, after Without Remorse. I think the only book I've read twice is Hunt for Red October -

Jack's been losing it the last couple of years. You're right, he has trouble keeping up with the action. He also has developed some kind of slurring speech where he just can't enunciate simple words properly. You'd think he had a stroke, but he claims he hasn't, and no doctor can figure out what's wrong with him. He was replaced for a few game stretch a couple of times this season, but the guy who replaced him was boring as hell. Jack may have lost it, but at least he gets people talking

March Madness does nothing for me any more. Likely will not watch a single game

I posted that from the sh!tter at work. I was drawing a blank, and remembered as I was washing my hands. -

I don't think I've really paid attention to it since the early '90s. The only college basketball player I could name right now is that chick from Iowa. What's her name again? -
You Can Vote For Any President In The Last 50 Years (Who Gets Your Vote ?)
Thornton Melon replied to BeenHereBefore's topic in The Geek Club
I went with Ford. He didn't get any votes to be President, so I might as well give him one. -

I'm deathly afraid of heights. I couldn't do that for all the money in the world.

I never considered sunscreen as "skin care", it's just a necessity when I go to the beach or if I'm working outside or hanging around the pool in the summer. Other than that, my hands get extremely dry and cracked this time of year, and I use whatever hand cream I have handy. In fact, I just used some CeraVe healing ointment about 10 minutes ago.

Scott Mitchell is Tired of Being a Scapegoat
Thornton Melon replied to Voltaire's topic in The Geek Club
Scott Mitchell was my first fantasy draft pick ever, in 1996, after his one good season in 1995. The guy right after me picked Brett Favre -

I didn't steal the Plan B. I wanted to..... -
It's only available in the Northeast, but Second Fiddle, a double IPA from Fiddlehead Brewing, is great. In my local store I'll see 4-packs of 16oz Second Fiddle cans for typical craft beer price of $16. Then occasionally, right next to that will be 12-packs of 12oz cans for $18, same price as Sam Adams or Corona. Gee, let me think...64oz for 16 bucks, or 144oz for 2 bucks more....
