Some still are, but the newer ones went straight Market Basket. The one in Danvers, where I went as a kid was Demoulas.

What amazes me the most, is how long people work there.

I was just at the MB in Seabrook. I had to ask a worker what aisle the pasta was in. I looked at his name tag...43 years :shocking:

The price at MB are great but I can't go there on the weekends, it's packed just too many people. But I'll pop in on my way home after work and grab 20 or less items, get in and out quick. Their pizza ain't bad either.

I just had MB pizza the other day, and I couldn't believe how good it was. Someone told me that Sal's made it for them, but to me it was even better than Sal's.

And you are in an engineering/tech firm.  Which brings up a big problem with such goals -- the underlying feeder group doesn't support them.  There is nothing close to 45% women or POC in engineering, let alone engineering management, to support those goals.  So you end up with a diverse C Suite of supporting staff -- HR, legal, finance -- to make the numbers work.

Well, not an engineering firm, but a science-based company, life sciences specifically, so there are far more scientists than engineers. There is definitely a higher percentage of women compared to engineering, but your point still holds. You can't artificially manufacture a specific ratio for your high level management without passing over more qualified people.

What is funny to me is the fact that HR will insist that they need a diverse set of candidates and interviewees and then have 80 percent of their HR made up of women. No diversity at all. But they sure as hell push it.

We have a DEI group within HR that started 3 or so years ago. It started out with 6 or 7 people,  now it's up to 13. There's probably about $3 million in combined salaries in that group. Complete waste...Oh, and there's one white woman and one white man in the group (and I'm pretty sure the guy is gay).

  5. Three years ago, my company came out and stated that within 5 years, a certain percentage (45%, I think) of executive level employees would be women or POC. This can only be achieved by firing white males and hiring others accordingly, credentials be damned.

Also, every job posted needs to have a "diverse" pool of interviewees, as well as a "diverse" panel of interviewers. Every time I have to interview a candidate, this same girl has to sit in on it. She knows why she's there. She rolls her eyes and says "I'm only here because I'm female".

I have a simple haircut.  Clipper at the 1.5 setting.  Do it ourselves.  Easier and cheaper.

Same here, but I do #4 on top, #3 on the sides, #2 in front of the ears, plus that tapered thingy around the ears. Been doing that since '01. Prior to that, I had my FIL cut my hair, before that it was a friend of my girlfriend (now wife). I think I've paid for just one haircut since 1986.

Pretty good view around this area.   You can actually kind of see it better using your phone than the naked eye.

:thumbsup:That's how it was last night when I was up in New Hampshire. It was pretty cloudy and you could see it much better looking through your phone.
