I would grab a an established RB with an established role like Mixon and then land one of the elite WR. In rounds 2-3 people are reaching for dart throw RBs. I've grabbing the borderline WR1s that have been falling as a result. That way I've been able focus on RBs for the rest of the draft, instead grabbing WR 3s. It's a team that has a solid base, and is ready for the mid season when the early round RBs get hurt, have roles reduced or just straight up bust.

Three downs a game maybe. Miles Sanders is the only back with rb1 upside there.

UPDATED: Doug Orth's Big Boards - Top 200
Brutal Brutus replied to Mike FF Today's topic in FFToday Board
They actually replaced most their line, they just used the same philosophy. They found injury prone retreads that came on the cheap. I believe in the talent of Murray and DJ, and I think the offensive scheme could work, but if the o line plays at the same level as last year it won't matter. -

Thanks for answering my question. I have one more of you don't mind. Are you concerned about the AZ Oline and how it effects DJ? I didn't think they could be worse than last year, but so far they have been. -
Would you use this site? Seeking honest feedback for something I have been working on

There's a "little help" board on this site for those kinds of questions. It doesn't get used very much if that answers your question. -
Anyone else trying this approach this year? I've always tried to draft RB heavy in the early rounds, but this year I may be changing that and going with an RB2 by committee approach. The more mocks I do, the more I see unproven dart throw RB's being overvalued in round 2-5, while proven WR's are falling. Right now, I'm looking at drafting a proven RB 1, with a proven workload in round 1 to stabilize that position, and then in rounds 2,3,4 & maybe even 5, drafting the undervalued borderline WR1's that are falling. This has left me with the ability to throw more drafts at RB's in the middle rounds, where I can draft safe, and homerun options. I'm not wasting mid round picks on hit and miss WR3's, and I'm not using early round picks on players who have a high likely hood of busting. It seems to be a team with a high floor and high ceiling.

Told you....WR1 upside

Watson or Watkins? I have him in front of Watkins
-
I'll take Gordon just before Watkins. Both are going to miss games, give me the guy thats a wr 1 when he plays.
-
I'm not worried about Edmonds. My concern is the offensive line. I didn't think that it could get any worse than last year, but I'm not so sure about that now. They have been horrendous so far.

Its actually the exact opposite of daily. You draft a team for the season. No adds or drops, no setting lineups. Your points are based on the best possible starting lineup for that week.
-
Yeah, I love DJ and his talent, but last night definitely has me reevaluating him. I don't think they were running their true offense, that oline looked terrible. I'll have to do some thinking on my Johnson in the first vs Adams in the second.

One more positive sign for Murray is how quickly the Saints signed him. RBs seem to be late signers unless a team is seeking them out for a specific reason.
-
I'm not sold Ingram was anything other than a system RB. We've saw Tim Hightower come off the streets and thrive in that role. Murray has also been the most efficient goal line back over the past two years.... Don't ask for the source, unless you want the podcast I listen to.

My main league is 12 team, 2 keepers where the keepers count at last years draft position. Every league has it's own style and set up which changes how they value certain positions. I'll never go into a draft with a set strategy, but this is one that seems to be working this year that I don't typically try to embrace most years.

What's your favorite position? Least favorite?
Brutal Brutus replied to Phil Simms 11's topic in FFToday Board
I started a different thread about this called RB 2 by committee, but I like that spot this year as I see a lot of value in low end WR 1's dropping. Rd 2. I can still land a Schuster type, Rd. 3 K. Allen and Rd.4 Cooks. I take L. Murray as my rb 2 and follow that up with Ekler or Cohen and high upside RBs. I see this strategy as limiting my bust potential in the early rounds and maximizing the amount of darts I can throw at the RB position in the middle rounds. -

I don't have one that that truly don't like. I may prefer the middle at 5 or 6. I like DJ in round 1, and you're in prime position to take players that are falling throughout the draft. When I draft at the ends, I typically find my self debating between a couple players, picking one, only to watch the other player fall to the next round and almost make it back to me. At that point I see someone getting an incredible value. Then again, drafting at the ends forces you pick your players, while drafting the middle, I find myself drafting a bit more on who I think should make it back to me, only to have a few players drafted before I thought they would be and wishing I had taken them instead. -
Draft position dependent but, I've been able to land Thomas, Schuster or Hill in Rd 2 consistently. Rd 3. I've been taking K. Allen a lot, but the Min. receivers and Cooper are typically there if you prefer them. Rd. 4 I like Cooks, unless I have Hill, but Woods is usually there as well as Edleman, and sometimes Diggs Rd 5. I start seeing the positions even out. Sometimes an Edleman or Kupp will fall to here, otherwise this is the territory of the break out year 2 WR. I prefer reaching a bit and taking L. Murray and starting to build my RB2 backfield, but if the right WR falls I'll fill out my flex spot. Thus far my RB 2 committee has been headlined by L. Murray and either Ekler or Cohen. I can still land a high upside back or two in next couple rounds, and then I'll take a decent floor back like a Duke Johnson or Dion Lewis type in round 10 or 11.

I was never on board with Luck and Hilton, but they are quickly going from "no thanks" to "not a chance" on my draft board.

Does Cohen still get his when the take over is complete? Or do you see Cohen being phased out as well? -
I'm not sure how the competition is going to increase after cuts. Unless they bring someone in, he's going to be going against the same group of receivers. That group, after Brown and Williams, is a really uninspiring group. It's doesn't really matter for fantasy purposes, I just don't follow the logic. Rookies typically don't ascend to the top of the depth chart until the end of camp.

I've done my rants on DJ in other topics, but I think he bounces back this year. I can keep DJ in the first or Adams in the second, I'm keeping DJ.

Where does Antonio Brown become value vs. risk?
Brutal Brutus replied to envoy9's topic in FFToday Board
I don't like him as a stud WR 1, but I think has a relatively high floor for a WR being drafted as a back end WR 1. He has two things working for him. 1. He'll complain about not getting enough targets and the ball. 2. Oakland has invested a lot into him and will likely force feed him.
