    2025 Discussion

No major snipes for me yet. I had a couple of "wishful thinking" players I'd hoped would drop to me, but didn't expect them to, so tough to call those a snipe. I'm in full on "winging it" mode this season. Haven't had much time for research, so going with a combo of "expert consensus" lists and gut feelings. Who knows, I've never won this league, so maybe I'll do better with this method - lol...

    2025 Discussion

I've been negligent by not saying THANK YOU to all for your condolences, t&p's and reach outs via text/phone since I announced my wife's passing. While our acquaintances may be casual, they have continued over a lot of years with many of you and I truly appreciate it. OK, back to fantasy baseball - I was looking at the keeper thread and this looks like a major year for turnover of keeper bats countered by a lot of tier 1-2 arms coming off the board as keepers. Will make for an interesting draft strategy-wise. Historically, the arms were plentiful early in drafts and good bats were scarce due to keepers - seems like the opposite this season.

    2025 Discussion

Most trades occur after the initial keepers are locked in. I think you'll see a lot of them once the draft tracker is online and managers can all see where the keepers landed within rounds. That spawns the onslaught of moves to move keepers back in rounds to move up in other rounds. p.s. Nice job, PSU! Thanks again for jumping in as Commish - I can now safely say that I wouldn't have had a prayer of doing it this season. I'm barely keeping up with the manager level tasks. I'm thinking I'm going to be a door mat this season but am happy for the distraction.

Just an FYI - @PSULions you should now have moderator permission to this board. LMK if you have any issues. Thanks!

    Draft Date Discussion

Want to have a 2 week window for the draft to ensure some cushion. Got to start getting keepers sorted out over the next week for sure. That tends to be the biggest time sink every season. Suggest using my thread from last year to guide the process. Need to also consider having a bit of time to allow for potential keeper trades while allowing yourself enough time to adjust the draft sheet and Yahoo site to account for them. Remember to update keeper sheet to +1 years for previous keepers. Fun… p,s - PSU - I added you as a co- commissioner on Yahoo site. Also working on getting moderator permissions on this board, but that often takes a while to happen based on past experience.

    2025 Discussion

I talked with PSU on the phone over my lunch break and he will take over the reins as Commish for this season. Over the upcoming week, I will work with him on some of the details. I am hopeful that Posty can assist with generating the initial keeper and draft tracker sheets as he has done for me over the years. This is always a major help. We'll collectively muddle through it, but I'd suspect a few hiccups along the way. My thanks to you Morgan, as well, for offering to Commish. I'd just talked to Dave (PSU) before I noticed your offer. I do plan on participating as a manager for the season, so I am IN from that perspective. I am completely open to re-owning the Commish role next season or sharing it with PSU (if you guys don't drive him too crazy and he wants to - LOL). More to follow as we shake out the details. But, we WILL have a season this year. I'd suggest that we continue with this thread to confirm the status of the folks who haven't committed to being in yet. I'll let PSU run with haunting those stragglers.

    2025 Discussion

Hi guys - I really hate to say it, but I can't Commish for the league this season. My wife passed away a few weeks ago (long story and I'll detail it at a later date) and while the initial shock has passed and I'm beginning to recalibrate life as a single Dad with a teen daughter, my available cycles and ability to focus are simply not there right now. I really hope that someone can step up to Commish for a year. I might still be able to participate as a manager, but there is no way I can perform the Commish role to a degree I'd be self-satisfied with under the circumstances. It's more time/work than you think I can and am willing to commit to being Commish next season if needed/wanted but I have to bow out of Commish duties this year.

    2024 - General Discussion

A little late on my reply, but you think you have it bad - 6 of my top 8 drafted players... 1st round - Strider, done for the year 3rd round - Robert, out indefinitely 5th round - McLain, out indefinitely and likely for the whole year 6th round - Casas, out indefinitely 7th round - Fairbanks, out indefinitely 8th round - Senga, out for another month or so (the hazards of drafting early, wouldn't have made him a keeper if I knew what I knew now) 16th round - Bellinger (not in the top 8 picks, but certainly carries a value that would have had someone drafting him before round 9, out for 2-3 months. I'm used to the annual "war of attrition" for FB, but we're not even in May yet! WTF...

SNIPED, 6 times by PSU Dave

I only had a couple of painful snipes. Had a pile of minor ones where I was targeting a guy way too late and he was gone 10-15 picks ahead of where I would have grabbed him. Tough to get upset about those. At the round 3-4 turn, I really wanted Bichette but TS grabbed him despite having Trea Turner already. Ghost already had Lindor, so I figured Bichette would fall to me once we got past Isotope at 3.09 and had mentally "penciled him in". Hopefully, I have a gem in McLain though. Time will tell... In round 28, I had my sights set on Ceddanne Rafaela, but Strombn sniped him a few picks ahead of me. Kicked myself on that one as I prioritized positional need (Marcus Stroman - yuck) over upside in the prior round. Dumb - especially after hearing that Duran got a foot injury in that day's game which opens the door for Rafaela to get some early playing time to potentially earn a permanent roster spot. I think he'll end up being a decent keeper value or trade chip next season.

    2024 - General Discussion

It IS a marathon, but on purpose. Want to provide adequate roster space to allow us to draft our breakout, sleeper, comeback player and hot prospect candidates. One of my favorite parts of this league is occasionally hitting on a "who the hell is he?" guy in the 16th-30th round who turns into a top 100 player. Our rosters are filled with great selections like that - Gunnar, Elly, Adley, Riley, Witt, Abrams, Kirby, Grayson, etc.

Have submitted draft results to the Yahoo League site. Please check to make sure that your roster is accurate. Remember that you have change the date to tomorrow (March 9) to see your roster.

Yes, fantastic job, everyone. We got through it with time to spare before Talent Scout's departure and maintained a good pace throughout. While the trades started off slower than usual, they picked up with a lot of player movement (as opposed to just draft spot maneuvering). That was kind of a new twist and it was interesting to see drafted players getting traded during the draft itself. Thanks to all for keeping things moving and staying on point! I appreciate it and I know that TS does as well. Good luck this season! I will be submitting draft results on the Yahoo site in a bit...

Godfather - do you have someone else making your picks this year? Only TWO Brewers? No MIL batters? Passing on some of their best players when they were still available? What's gotten into you? LOL
