He was hoping something would change but with Mamdani's win inevitable, it's an effort to bend the knee and ask that the far left not come for him next. I'm no Jeffries fan, but he's not far out enough for the wing that is bringing Mamdani in. The only other question is will Schumer do it as well and I'm not sure that he will because I think he knows they are coming for him either way.

Yeah I mean for most people who are around our age, few are ahead. I definitely got ahead during that time. Around the start of Covid I took an interest in finishing that old 86 set again I used to have and buy and sell in for money while in college. I got some 10's. One I did buy/flip was the Steve Johnson. I realized it was low pop. I bought one and when things got nuts I put it out there and sold it. I bought it for around $330 in late 2020 and got $8K for it in April 2022. I wish I had bought all of them up I could find rather than just 1. They were like low 80s in pop count for 10s. So that lick definitely helps. I picked up my Jordan as an investment for $5350 back in late 2019. I'm obviously way up but not near what I was. I had Heritage Auctions ready to do my set with stickers at the time but the packaging to send to them was onerous. I should have followed through because my normal business was stalled during Covid. My set was top 50 back then, I just checked it and I"m bumped down to 54. It's weird b/c the valuable ones just sit in a box at the bank. I have that set all 9's and 10's, then stickers with a 9 Jordan. I am missing the Jabbar. The estimate on the auction was I'd get around $100K (I can't recall if the Johnson 10 was still in the set or if I'd sold it and put a 9 in it's place). Talk about missing the boat.

I can remember the days of those old team bags of Star cards. I still have a couple, I think I have the Kings and Bucks sealed from 1986. I have an 86 Fleer set in the registry. I was top 50 but may have slipped some. Haven't checked in quite awhile. So stupid not to sell during Covid.

Most valuable probably a PSA 9 graded 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card. Most prized, either Lance Berkman's AA BP/alternate jersey or a cracked Louisville Slugger name stamped bat from my since deceased HS teammate when he got a short stint with the KC Royals.

I don't get too worried about that. Believe it or not I've heard of people who would cheerlead for that scumbag Abrego Garcia to get some of our money too.

He was on CNN back to back with Chris Cuomo. Since those days I’ve actually come to enjoy listening to Cuomo even if I frequently don’t agree with him but Lemon is off the rails.

We already are seeing this in some of the suburbs. This is as football rabid of a place as you can be from. But when it comes to football, more parents are steering their kids towards other sports even if they want to watch football on Saturdays. Of course it helps now that the AHSAA has become essentially a deal where if you're good enough, your parents are going to end up with great jobs in one of the city school systems where the booster money is nuts for a high school program. So in many cases, these systems are often importing their players from poorer districts in order to win.

You clearly have never been to any SEC campuses where more women are conservative and also quite hot. Either way we have a huge gender gap. Studies have shown indeed younger people are more alone these days. I have hired students before and I have seen some girls post those type things locally as well. But in all honesty they post such angry stuff I feel sorry for any man who would date them whether on the left or right. Even if the guy agreed with them politically, who would want to date someone so miserable? If you let your politics drive those life decisions you truly are mentally set up for an unstable and rough existence. There’s been times my wife has voted differently than I have and neither one of us talked anything about it beyond knowing each other did so. I think TDS is going to have to become a recognized condition.

I couldn't really give specifics to my feelings about the younger generation, and how I feel radicalism is being embraced. When I read this article today it made me think about our postings. Yep. Honestly I think Kimmel was on his way out anyway. If he was making them a lot of money, this wouldn't have happened. We don't know, but based on ratings, contracts they'd have to pay, his show was likely losing money and this gave them an excuse to end it. However, the FCC should stay out of it. While I don't agree with Kimmel, I don't like even the perception that the government is involved. If you believe in your position, you gain more from someone like Kimmel spouting off the short side of a 20/80 issue than you ever do by removing him. Let him speak, same for Ilhan Omar. I feel like the more they speak, the better it is for people who believe as I do. If you believe your position is right, open discussion about it should only strengthen it.

He spoke at one of my business dinners in Las Vegas, smaller group probably less than 50. So before the event he was just sitting around chatting with people. Openly bitter about MLB and the not wanting him at the All Star Game etc. But entertaining as hell.

It's amazing how long he held the Reds saves record, I remember the night John Franco passed him. He actually was NL Fireman of the Year at least once. He's on a 73 Topps card with Sparky Lyle. I met Pete Rose about 10 years ago in Vegas. Told him I was from the same town and Rose called my hometown by name all those years later.
