Trump wants the U.S. to take over Gaza and relocate all the Palestinians
Mark Davis replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
The population's mindset is totally poisoned with what is taught there. There's a reason the Egyptians or Jordanians won't take them in. Like you said, they chose their leadership and where it's gotten them. -
Why don't we have the name of the Blackhawk helicopter pilot?
Mark Davis replied to Patented Phil's topic in The Geek Club
Oh I'm sure corruption is rampant there. I'd rather have more help than less even if they are 20% effective. The heavy lift is going to have to be done by our side. -

He surrendered by them sending an additional 10K soldiers? Again, I get if you want to argue their effectiveness given the corruption in Mexican government and military. But these are additional troops. So the argument they aren't sending them isn't valid. This is per the NY Times so it's hardly a pro Trump source. -

So the NY Times is wrong is what you're saying? -

One may be right to question if they will be effective, and I've been kind of trying to stay out of this but factually the argument you are making is incorrect. This is from the NY Times, and I'll link the article as well. These are additional troops to what are presently there. Deploy to the U.S.-Mexico border 10,000 members of the Mexican National Guard, a militarized force tasked with security operations and, in recent years, migration enforcement efforts. The deployment is in addition to the mix of police forces, Mexican Army soldiers and guardsmen already patrolling the border. The National Guard troops will be focused on curbing the flow of fentanyl and illegal migrants into the United States. https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/02/03/us/trump-tariffs -
Not a fan of the way she treated her dog but she's a smoke show

I don't dispute there are some voluntarily unemployed American malcontents in there. In retrospect, I could be short sighted on the makeup of the crowd due to that reason, by definition it's pretty hard for someone working to be out there in the middle of the day. I do find it funny as an American the thought of waving the flag of another country though. I'd have to be pretty miserable with my life to do so but then again I have things pretty good. Plus my dad who was in WWII might come out of the grave to beat me to death for it.

Totally different argument then. You're welcome to a differing viewpoint, but the comment wasn't about what you believe. I still contend that if the status of the people in that video were ascertained that a substantial portion would be illegal. Common sense says it's so, and I suspect you know that as well, at least I hope so.
-
Sure they do, you're trying to broaden my comment out to make an arguing point where one doesn't exist. I stated that about the people in the video who are blocking streets and waving the Mexican flag in an anti-ICE protest. It's a little different than a parade of some sort or annual celebration, or World Cup game etc. A good many people who might do so in other situations at the very least aren't anti-ICE. By definition, those people in that video are. Now why would that be?
-
I wasn't aware we had protests that are blocking the streets made up of people waving the flag of Ireland. I also don't think we have that many illegal immigrants from Ireland. But if I'm wrong and they have done so, or we do have that many, I'm all for the same repatriation.
-
It's actually going in the same direction, the government coffers, so they don't offset at all
-
Happened in Atlanta yesterday as well. I'm all for people being proud of their country, but the flags kind of underline the point that these aren't Americans. Well, except for the career protest folks who need something to do when they wake up in mom's basement after lunch.

And just like that another $440MM saved. Or put in better terms, $440MM our kids don’t have to borrow and owe China.

I'm not a fan of foreign aid in general, but definitely not to a country who is seizing private land.

This unwillingness to call people what they are is a good reason why the Dems lost to Donald Trump. You can look at it through the lens of illegal immigrants, the whole trans thing, the hyphenation of every subset of American group. I know you'll disagree with me, but the people I know whose vote moved from Biden in '20 to Trump in '24 these type things along with the border were the main reasons. That thought may work in California, but if you want to win anywhere but the coasts, it won't. There's a reason those upper midwest states are trending more red toward purple where as they used to not be competitive. When the left insists on these issues, Donald Trump wins.

Plane crashes into Potomac near Reagan airport
Mark Davis replied to Fireballer's topic in The Geek Club
Horrible tragedy in what appears to be some awfully congested airspace. Totally unrelated, but the worst I was probably ever shook on a plane was on a flight out of Wichita. I used to fly almost weekly, had all the high levels on the commercial airlines, etc. It was flooding in Wichita, if you’ve been there you know how flat it is. Roads were impassible and it was just a total mess. They put us on one of those old Delta prop planes to Dallas, the old silver ones. They started pulling bags bc we weren’t making weight. Bad sign. Then we take off and get in some of the worst storms I ever flew through and shook like a wet dog for close to an hour somewhere near Wichita Falls TX in a holding pattern trying to let the storms clear. I’d never been so glad to see DFW in my life. It was about that time I decided the prop jobs out of Wichita weren’t for me. -

MSNBC guest uses racially charged language in diatribe about White Trump voters
Mark Davis replied to jbycho's topic in The Geek Club
I see Elie Mystal and I know exactly what he said before I read any further. Much like Joy Reid, it's the same song and verse, the tune usually isn't even changed. It's the same race baiting thing over and over again. -
Ding ding ding. That could just be why they need to be shackled. I'm sure the Colombians will send a few police/military to see them and be sure they have tea and a warm meal on the way home. Perhaps a billy club or two to the rib cage to stay in control of the flight might occur as well if they aren't shackled. I'm not too worried over Colombia saying what they did, they obviously don't want these scumbags back and I don't blame them one bit for trying.
-
Of course they didn't want them back, who would? However, it appears they figured the game out and took corrective action. If their leader needs to save face by saying there was some technicality on why they were first refusing them that's fine. The end result is all that matters.
-
They came to their senses by refusing to take their citizens back? That’s nonsense and not something an ally would do.
-
Looks like Colombia has come to its senses.
