LA Wildfires, 100K people evacuated and counting

Buddy of mine who has a home in Pasadena but has moved to Boise said they evacuated his old neighborhood last night. He has kept his house there and has been staying in touch with the neighbors. As of now their neighborhood hasn’t lost anything. Terrible situation, just unimaginable.

Who are your top 5 favorite athletes?

Seitzer is a friendlier guy than Brett or Bo. Even as an AU guy who knows Bo’s college roommate and his family. Of course it’s hard to imagine what Bo was at his height. The guy still can’t go anywhere without being recognized.

Who are your top 5 favorite athletes?

Seitzer was the craze back in '88 for cards etc. I saw a couple games at Royals Stadium back in '87. Went there to see Bo Jackson. Well, just before I got there he broke his collarbone. Either way, got to see Seitzer, picked up a couple of yearbooks I have to this day from them. Saw Bill Ripken hit his first big league HR in one game and Phil Nikero get one of his 318 wins in the other. Royals lost both. Also learned that upper deck is steep as a damn cliffside.
  4. Ken Griffey is pretty bad ass. I went to Auburn, big Frank is the truth too.

    Economic leftism doesn’t work

Thanks for posting this. I had similar thoughts but just on my phone so hard for me to type that out. The models of states like Florida and Texas and what their infrastructure with lower taxes should be the envy of everyone.

    Allstate boycott?

It shortened the lines maybe a bit for me. Ours is always overflowing in the drive thru and sometimes hard to find a seat inside. Chick Fil A is hurting so badly that they can develop property for a new site, and then sell that property back to investors with a lease cap rate of what amounts to the rate of a government bond. So they are essentially making money by simply opening a store and branding it, then doing a leaseback.

    Allstate boycott?

We have to have liability by state law. I had an 8 year old Camry at that time. It wasn't worth comprehensive coverage and I had decided if I'm at fault I'll pay for my own situation but the lady who ran the light in her Avalanche had the same insurance company I did. They were only too happy to claim they couldn't determine for sure what happened so it was "no fault" and they therefore didn't have to pay me. The photos of my passenger side door caved in from the T-boning wasn't enough apparently.

    Another embarrassment for Mike Johnson

Let's not break out the brown paper bags too soon, he won on round one.

    Allstate boycott?

Insurance companies are all pretty much the drizzling craps right off the bat. If you ever want to have a major life regret, let one of their financial people get your contact information if they think you have money to invest. They have all sorts of horrid products they want to sell you. I made the mistake of doing a favor for a friend who had a relative who needed what he thought was a call as an intern, just to help him out. I was just going to spend a few minutes with him, listening to him, give feedback, etc. Turns out the guy was already hired, his boss was on the call, and that good deed has led to about a year's worth of harassment from them wanting me to meet, get on calls with them, etc. I'd boycott the whole industry if I could. I had them deem an auto accident "no fault" when a woman ran a red light and totaled an old car of mine. Lost my car in the process. Got enough from the scrap yard to pay the tow and storage until they released the car is about it.

Free speech is fine, if you're an American. But we can choose who we bring here, if anyone in that crowd isn't an American then they should go. Those type sentiments are dangerous and we should be more selective about who we allow inside our borders.

Ten Dead And Thirty Injured Last Night In New Orleans

I'm kind of tired of not wanting to hurt people's feelings when they support and in some cases conspire with people who want to kill innocent Americans. If they want to meet God sooner, I'm all for helping them. Maybe we could both get what we want. At the very least, we should send them on a one way flight to live with those wonderful folks they support.

That false start saved Texas. They were prepared for that blitz on 4th down. Great protection.

Enjoying all the Twitter slap fights over whether the game should be moved to tomorrow

We have VC money getting involved in college football due to NIL ending the cash cow margins football was providing. Yet we have part time weekend warrior officials who are going to be selling a car policy on Monday morning deciding these games. Officiating all year has been inconsistent at best.

Woman set on fire- NYC Subway

My guess is it would be a reflex if someone woke up in that kind of pain to stand and try to move away from whatever was causing it. I don't know how true some of the reports are but have read people who said the body's tendons/muscles lock up when in that type of trauma so that's why she was locked in that standing position.

    Syria

I've long believed that we are better off with Assad in charge than the alternative. He's a bad guy, we may not like him, but it's him or the alternative. Well, we don't get to choose the alternative. It may end up being religious fanatics rather than a self interested dictator that you can deal with and deter knowing he is most interested in self preservation.

    Rob Manfred and the Golden-at-bat

Why would you want to ban the shift? Banning it merely rewards the current 3 outcome plate appearance. It helps take pure hitting out of the game, learning to go the other way, etc. If a hitter refuses to adjust, he should have to make the choice of hitting into that type alignment or adjust his swing. Everything has changed to launch angle versus going with the pitch, taking a ball the other way, etc. Arraez is a joy to watch for someone who enjoys watching a pure hitter, but those guys are few and far between in the modern game. I already see 90% of the players being straight pull, launch angle type players.

    Rob Manfred and the Golden-at-bat

Some people like In-N-Out better than Ruth's Chris as well. But them stating it as fact doesn't change that it's just an opinion. Personally I think the death of the old NL brand of baseball where pitchers spots in the order had to be accounted for while managing your bench and bullpens was a travesty. But to each his own.

    Rob Manfred and the Golden-at-bat

Manfred is a joke. He also carries around with him a larger security detail than a sitting President. He's pretty impressed with himself.
