We disagreed just before the debate where I asked you specifically if you could see where Biden's speech now wasn't like it was four years ago and you told me you could see no difference in now and then. At least the MSM has moved past that whole "cheap fake" narrative and can admit now he's diminished. They knew it before though, it was obvious.

You have to give the MSM credit for convincing people Biden was competent for so long when it was on video for anyone to see for quite some time before it became undeniable at the debate. You're right on both points. It is him, and I think his wife is pushing him towards staying. That's just an opinion. But I agree they can't move past Kamala Harris. The share D's are polling with the black vote is too low for them to win right now. They can't pass Harris up given how loyal black women are to the party and needing to improve their overall demographic numbers.

The floor has totally fallen out under Biden. The poor man looked like he was going to collapse getting off the plane when he returned from Vegas. Yes I want Trump to win, and yes I think Harris would be slightly more likely to win than Biden, but I think they should let the man retire. He's not capable and clearly in steep decline. I also am not fully invested in these Harris polls holding as close, imagined nominees and candidates tend to do better than when they are all of a sudden in a race. I do think she is slightly more likely to win. If somehow they get to a Shapiro type candidate, that's the best odds for the D's. But Shapiro would start at such a disadvantage from money and name recognition, I think he's better to wait than to fight this uphill fight.

I read it the same way. I re-read it. Then I read back in this thread to see if I was mistaken and I was the only one who read it that way. My gut feeling was that no I'm not surprised someone who is abused is having mental issues.

I voted for Clinton twice, he and Gingrich were actually pretty good together. A reshuffling of policies and what is acceptable in each party has shifted quite a bit since then.

Communist is just like calling someone fascist. I managed to leave that one out, because while we should all be better, I don't think those terms in and of themselves are the biggest threats. However invoking the name and imagery of Hitler is a direct reference to the extermination of a race at the hands of a totalitarian dictator. It fits in with the threat to our democracy line and the racist narrative. That's certainly no accident they all piece together.

Well, you could have said this about anyone chosen because you are almost exactly the opposite on every issue from the Republicans. It's not realistic to think people who disagree with you shouldn't have such aspirations. And I think he believes his legacy would be much better than that. Just as I'm sure you think Biden's done a great job, I think he's been a disaster.

Probably those with the upset comments. As far as his fate, he's a first termer in a safe Senate seat. So it's a huge upgrade for him in probably a 75/25 or 80/20 likelihood of winning. Granted there's always risk of giving up a safe seat for your career. If he wants to ever be President this is a move he has to make.

Sure, he's over the top with rhetoric. I have always been open and critical of that. But the Hitler, dictator, threat to our democracy stuff is a step beyond that. Maybe you don't agree, but so far it's Trump who has had an assassin target him and taken that rhetoric to heart. And to be honest, the media has been more complicit in this than Joe Biden. I don't think if it were just Biden making speeches it would be so ramped up.

Let's not even talk about the attempted assassin, just in general, for someone who believes in those hyperbolic statements taking homicidal acts is going to be justified in their mind. Wouldn't the world have been better off had a German taken Hitler out before he ascended to power? I've never been a fan of the mean tweets or Trump's rhetoric in general, yes he can help tone it down. But the left leaning media acting surprised or even worse appalled that they are being called out for these repeated statements is despicable. Their hyperbole is setting up a powder keg.

Let's wait for November and see who is in the streets causing damage, looting, violence. It's all projection at this point.

I assume that's the more likely story because he tried to kill Trump. The $15 is a small piece of evidence that happens to agree. But in the grand scheme of it, trying to kill Trump is more compelling evidence than the $15.
