Due in part to crappy wongs last week, unfortunate bad luck (Cousins hurting his ankle with 23 completions and needing 24 to win my 9 pick parlay), and some plain stupid bets, my account balance sits at $0.00. I placed my last $4 bonus bet last night on a 6 pick parlay that lost because Henry only had 17 rush attempts and needed 18 (had 2 attempts called back on penalties in the 1st quarter). That being said I only deposited $35 originally and got 8.5 weeks of NFL bets in. Was contemplating if I wanted to add more for this weekend but with a little luck I won't need to. This morning I saw I have another free $5 bet on DK. That's 2 weeks in a row they have given me a free bet (3 times if you include the NBA opening week free bet). I'm not complaining but what gives? Why would they keep giving free bets? I'm not a high roller by any means.

I'm curious if FD ever offers any type of free bet? I have an FD account but never use it. Whenever I've logged in it just shows the typical bet boosts or parlay specials. However, DK just last week gave a free NBA bet for the start of the season, and over the weekend they gave me another free $5 bet good for any sport.

To add insult to injury, I had a $3 9 pick parlay in the Vikings game that would have paid $100. Just needed Cousins to throw 24 completions. Of course he got hurt after 23 completions.

I was going to mention that as well. I know it's only my 3rd week betting wongs, but last week was slightly better than breaking even and this week only the Giants and Titans covered for me.

The odds are slightly better with a straight teaser rather than setting the alternate spread. Not a big difference but a difference nonetheless. I experimented with these last night and discovered the different ways to set up the parlays.

It's not entirely easy but if you choose the Alternate Spread on DK, you can manually adjust the spread up or down the desired 6 points as needed. I did this last week for 5 teams, then in the bet slip I was able to choose the round robin for my wong teasers. Not the most convenient but easy enough still. Otherwise, if you simply choose the teams you want in the parlay you can round robin them in the bet slip but the points won't be adjusted. However, next to the parlay tab in the bet slip there is a teaser tab that will automatically add 6 points to all the teams selected...but you won't be able to round robin those.

Quick info for anyone that's new to wong teasers like I am. On DK I was manually adjusting the spreads of the games with the Alternate Lines tab, and then placing my bets. However, from the main NFL list, if you simply select the teams that fall within the proper range for betting and go to the bet slip, there is a tab next to the parlay tab labeled Teasers, and you can then select 6, 6.5, or 7 point teases. Plus the odds tend to be slightly better than how I was manually changing the spreads (at least from my experience). I also discovered that I was unable to tease NCAAF games manually by 6 points, but using the newly discovered Teasers tab in the bet slip, I can tease the college games 6 points (and up to 10 points for a "Super Teaser"). Hope this helps someone!

Placed 6 parlay wong teasers with: Mia/Den Mia/Atl Mia/Sea Den/Sea Den/Atl Sea/Atl DK wouldn't let me tease alternate spreads with Colts or Giants. Will check them throughout the week to see if that changes. Kept Buffalo out...they should win against the Pats (and cover the -2.5 teased line) but I don't know if I trust that one.

Yes, all 5 hit. Beginner's luck! 26 total bets @ $1 returned of $62.04 ($36.04 profit). Had the Chargers not covered last night I still would have profited $4. Great on the job training!

I just noticed that 6 of the games you DON'T have listed above are all within .5 of falling into the desired range. Only Chiefs/Charges don't have a spread yet (as of this post). Potentially all the games this week could be in range. Crazy! When I looked yesterday Jags were +2 (in range) but this morning are now +3 (out of range). With all the fluctuating that goes on during the week, when is the best time lock in a bet? Early in the week? Right before games start? Should line changes concern me if I've already placed a bet? (I haven't) So many potential options this coming week. I'll have to be smart with my 6 parlays.

Not looking to change the wong teaser methodology, but it occurred to me there could be another way to tease underdogs... For underdogs that are +7.5, +8, and +8.5, would it work to tease them up by 1.5 each so they are getting +9, +9.5, and +10 instead of teasing the favorite down by 6 points each? The odds would be better since you're not moving the spread nearly as much. I haven't found a favorable way to tease the favorites by only 1.5 points though. Perhaps we ponder it more if the above thinking makes sense. Thoughts?

Update - My picks of Washington, Chicago, Seattle, and New England all hit and have paid out about $30ish. I still have the chargers as part of the round robin and if they cover I'll get about another $32. In all it was 26 separate bets for $1 each On another note I noticed last night that both the eagles and rams lines moved to -7. So I teased them both down to -1 and parlayed them. As you know, the eagles lost to the jets. Go figure. Edit - Reviewing the wong teaser system, I should not have done anything with the Rams or Eagles. I should have only teased them down at -7.5, -8, or -8.5. Of course it wouldn't have mattered anyway with the Eagles. But now I believe I grasp the concept a lot better. Live & learn.

Now that I know the answer it seems so obvious that I should have known. Oh well.

I'm totally guessing but was it Terry Glenn? I recall he was some kind of drama queen. Of course Ray Crittendon seems like it would be fun to misspell.

Don't worry about me LOL. How it shakes out is it gave me: 1 five team parlay 5 four team parlays 10 three team parlays 10 two team parlays I'll probably only do do 6 team combos in the future but for $26 I thought I'd take a shot at it. As far as being the new guy...I may have just started posting but I've been lurking hear for 20ish years...going back to "Never bench Stephan Davis" and showing up at a guy's house and punching him in the face in front of his family. I am still learning all the rules. Thanks for being patient explaining it to us! I figured I'd see what happens with all combos. Wasn't too much to spend and I should get a fair amount of hits with it. (I hope) Well I'm sure I've got those combos covered too
