Do you understand how this works. People must request or accept the National Gaurd support, only then can Trump send them. Trump can not unilaterally send in the troops unless he has a request or approval of those in charge of that jurisdiction. The same thing happened with Bush during Katrina, the Louisiana governor refused so Bush could not send. Capitol Police and Pelosi were both informed of potential danger and leadership over ruled because it would somehow look bad. They knew exactly the danger and they did not heighten security in anyway or request outside help from the Gaurd.

I don't believe a lot if things which Trump says as he usually speaks off the cuff with limited knowledge. In this case he mostly got it correct, but needed more nuance. It was the judge discretion to accept the case as filed, which he should have rejected the premise since many facts in the case are disputed, and in fact most of the facts assumed to be true by the court proved to be false.

Trump gave an honest answer. This issue cuts both ways. Strong supporters of abortion would never vote for Trump anyways. But Trump could do better at framing the issue pointing out abortion was not banned, but allows states to choose reasonable restrictions on abortion such as late abortion and parental consent restrictions in line with democratic principles.

The way the case was filed and accepted by the court, there was no option for a jury trial no matter what motion was filed by the defense. And even if there was, the same judge said he would not have allowed it. This judge hates Trump more than Satan and wants to control the entire process and throw Trump in jail, even if it has to make a 100 outrageously wrong rulings, which he already has.

Who is talking about the timeliness for that day? National Gaurd support was discussed in the days leading up to January 6th because of intelligence which suggested there might be trouble. Top Capitol Police leadership and Pelosi rebuked those concerns and gave the excuse about 'bad optics'. What happened the day of it was already too late.
