Without the encryption key it is extremely difficult to hack even by professionals. Signal's biggest vulnerability is it feature which makes devices shareable. If they can hack into the phone and share it to their device, they could recieve duplicate messages. Government phones are locked down and difficult to hack.

They need to somehow lockdown on who they can communicate with Signal. It seems to be a well-respected program, but being able to inadvertently being able to add someone into the conversation seems like it is ripe for leaking.

It has not demonstrated anything. Signal is loaded on their government phones as a means of encrypting text messaging. There is nothing here except the media trying to make it into something big which it isn't.

The President does have that authority. The President is the ultimate authority on what is classified and the method he uses to declassify material is not covered. The president delegates to department heads the classification of material related to their department. The idea of nailing President's and even department heads with improper handling of classified materials is not really practical because what is classified is at their discretion. If Trump believes anyone was endangering the office of the Presidency or the United States, then he will fire them. Otherwise it is a nothingburger.

The white house said there was no classified material discussed. The incident is being investigated. So any declaration on your part about it being 'SCIF' material is just made up speculation.

And yet no damage was done and the mission went off successfully. The whole purpose of classifying information is to protect information which could cause harm. This information did not cause any harm.

I was directed to use signal instead of standard texting or calling in certain cases.
