The NFL rules don't address this, but the 2020 NFL Players Union CBA contract does. Happened with Zach Ertz in 2021. Played for Eagles on TNF, traded on Friday, and was told by the NFLPA that he could not play for his new team (Cardinals) on Sunday. That is not what the original post was about, however, it was about dropping a guy from a fantasy team after his NFL game is complete for the week. The dropped guy is of no value in that same week to any other team in the fantasy league, but the roster spot may be of value to the team dropping the player. So different leagues can address this as they wish, but in our league, there is no restriction from dropping a bench player after his NFL game concludes. Starting lineup is locked in, so doesn't apply to those players.

No they can't, but they are free to release them or place them onto waivers, which is the equivalent of what a fantasy team manager is doing.

NFL teams have multiple chances in a week to find a guy that will help them, why shouldn't your fantasy team have the same opportunity?
