  1. Dude, all the politicians are pro war, or at least pro making bank off always being in war.
  2. Its just kids getting shot at schools. Why you so hung up about it?
  3. Are you running for POTUS? Me neither. We used to hold these clowns up to a mild standard. It's also very telling that we have become desensitized to school shootings.

He's spent a little too much time thinking of dudes at glory holes.
  7. and for @The Real timschochet - The Clash suck.
  8. The olds get grumpy when you remind they are that close to death, sheesh. @BunnysBastatrds - I will answer your question. Of course opinions are like a$$holes and all that, but you are the one that said an album better than "any" of the ones listed there. You are really popping on those Blackfoot, Toto, and The Tubes albums now? Sorry there is a bunch of fluff on that list. There are also some awesome albums. I would say all these are all-timers: Highway to Hell, Fear of Music, Damn the Torpedos, and The Wall. There are a handful of others that were very good. So no, I won't go to bat for many albums post 2010. First of all, I grumble a lot that the art of a great album has been lost a bit in the Spotify/singles era. Off the top of my head, here are some albums that I would say are every bit better than 1/2 that list (again, IMO): The Black Keys - Brothers or El Camino, Lord Huron - Strange Trails, Tool - Fear Inoculum, Arctic Monkeys - AM, Bowie - Blackstar, If you like any metal there is a ton of albums I could list, even the old farts like Maiden are putting up great albums (Book of Souls), Dinosaur Jr - Farm, The Hold Stead - Boys and Girls In America, The National - High Violet or Trouble Will Find Me, there is a ton of great music out there. That's just off the top of my head as I am not 100% sure on dates. I've loved stuff by Spoon, Doves, Radiohead and others but that is more late 00s I think.
  9. Also, as usual the GC jumps to the wrong conclusions. You are old because you are talking about rocking these albums when you were teens at the time. I wasn't in kindergarten yet. It's not because you dig obvious great albums like The Wall. I just forget I'm probably a decade younger than most of you and I feel old on a daily basis.
  10. It's ok pops, just keep rocking your Van Halen and AC/DC. You are right, 0 good albums have come out since the 70s.
  11. Holy sh1t you guys are old.
  12. You don't think the notoriety is part of the process? These kooks want everyone to talk about them, know what they did, and read their manifestos. It's also been shown these school shooters study others and copycat a bit, so again - they see the reaction in the media and online and know it works.
  13. I guess I try to worry about real concerns. Let's be honest, the biggest win they have gotten in decades is the assault weapons ban years ago, and that was just a ban on certain mods for the AR, correct? Most places I look are going more the right's way - more CC, policies for more armed teachers like this discussion started off with, stuff like that. I think this fear from the right you are touching on is completely unrealistic, but of course that is what the right media focuses on - "they want your guns!!". It's a great way to stoke fear and get guns owners to stop budging on anything. We have more guns than people - they aren't going anywhere. Truth be told, I agree politicians don't care. Like most things they listen to the lobbyists and people with power. Lots of power and influence behind the gun and weapons lobby. Again, like I said it depends the stat you are looking at. Now you just listed violent crime rates, but we are talking about guns and why Chicago was the focus. Look at gun murder per capita, and I think that is were Chicago is closer to 30-40th in the country. If I remember right it's something like 25/100K? Cities like Birmingham, New Orleans, Detroit, St. Louis, Little Rock, Memphis are at the top. You even see weird cities like Hartford, Orlando, Columbia and others that have similar rates than Chicago. Chicago is a punching bag mostly because they tried to have different rules for the city vs. the rest of the state or surrounding states, so the right love to point there as some sort of slam dunk proof that those restrictions don't work. To me, anybody with any sense could understand that it's not going to do a ton if people can just drive to a suburb or about 1hour away to a different state. You brought up violent crime in general and when I've looked it's similar. Chicago is bad, but in the same range and I usually see cities like Memphis and St. Louis at the top again. Even if we could snap our fingers and all inner city gang violence disappeared, we still have 100s of millions of guns and there is still plenty of other crimes where guns are used, not to mention accidents and suicide attempts. I would hope we still have plenty of access to level 1 GSW care.
  14. I assume you have seen most of these shooters and what they look like. Here is my understanding so feel free to correct if I am wrong: 1. ARs provide more mods to make it easier to control, and are deadlier from a distance than shotgun/handgun. 2. Most of these kids seem to be typical skinny losers. Shotguns would be harder for them to control due to kick, and again the mods I mention above. 3. ARs and handguns are more likely to be used because of magazine size and shooters wanting to not have to reload as much.
  15. There's also a perfectly reasonable reason for this as well. Most of us have kids in school, go to malls, theaters, etc. Most of us won't go near the crime riddled areas of the big cities. People tend to click on and focus on this that they relate to and pertain to them. I agree that there is a baked in agenda when you are talking about media narrative, but there is also a reason people around the country would be outraged over something like a school shooting, even if it's very rare. Your second paragraph is 100% the reason why I bring up the stats like I do. I agree the narrative from the right is a focus on lib policies. I pointed out how when you look at the stats as I suggested, you see a lot of red counties and red states popping up. Again, it depends what stat you are looking at exactly but you start to see TX, SE states, and red counties pop up. IF it was just liberal policies generating the violence, how do we explain those stats? That's why I said I think the right is pushing narrative just as much. The left is stupid about this issue - who cares if some whine about abolishing the 2A or banning guns. Anybody with a brain should understand that is never going to happen. They need to focus on realistic solutions. That level of care is necessary to save lives everywhere. I was just shocked that a city as big as that didn't have that care for about 1/2 their population until 2018 or so. I also thought it was an interesting tie in to think about when we are talking stats like gun murder/death.
  16. Awesome. You'd think the right would be pushing even harder for this then. Two birds one stone and all.
  17. Again, it comes back to exactly what you are looking for. Of course there are more murders than mass shootings. It's a broader category of crime you are looking at. Of course there are more incidents of crime and murder in the cities, especially inner city/gangs than in a town like mine in rural WI. I guess my point was, as usual, that both sides of the debate use things to push an agenda. For the left - you are right, there is a focus on mass shootings and AKs. It helps push their narrative about scary looking guns and their platform of banning them. My point was for the right, there is focus on Chicago as well for narrative reasons. As I said, when you actually look at the rates/capita Chicago drops down and other places pop up. Again, it depends on the specific stat you are looking at (murder rate vs. gun violence vs. mass shootings vs. gun homicide) but there are places worse and often you start to see red states and areas climb to the top of the list. So Chicago is front and center because the narrative is the issue is lib run places like Chicago and inner city AAs. The stats don't reflect that narrative. Yes, Chicago is an issue, and as you pointed out the majority of the crime is located in certain areas. Did you know that the south side didn't even have a Level 1 trauma center until about 5 years ago? I was listening to an interesting podcast talking about how things like that also need to be parsed out when thinking about this issue since it would affect if a murder occurred or not. They were talking about how the murder rate could have been reduced 20-30% in the many years before that if so many didn't die on the way to the hospitals on the north side, since most of these shootings are on the south side. They suggested looking at other stats as well to get a better picture of what is going on in different areas. Was there that many more shootings, or were they just more likely to die vs. other cities with better hospitals. I get the frustration with the last paragraph, but I don't control the media. I always suggest turning off that wall to wall coverage for these reasons. My point was when you dig into stats you can find a different picture than either side is selling or willing to talk about.
  18. Who said anything about white trash gangs? Always to the hyperbole with you idiots.
  19. Love it when people focus all their attention on Chicago!!, which doesn't even lead in gun violence or murder per capita, then accuse others of not wanting to talk about facts and truth. They probably don't want to talk about how rural and red areas start popping up when you look at those stats per state and county. The obsession with Chicago is weird.
  20. Omg, of course they are. Domestic violence and gang violence monopolize the mass shootings. The dumbass above chose to interject overall Chicago stats in response to a post specifically about schools and armed teachers. Because everything in the Geek Club for many posters must lead back to the violent blacks and trannies.
  21. So we've gone from school shootings to "but Chicago!".

Do you really use the "Ignore User" function?

Godsend. Why anyone would want to have to scroll past Blue Horseshoe, LC tweets, squis fighting about word definitions, Raven's low IQ shtick, and dozens of other nonsense posters to get to readable information is beyond me.
  23. This is a rare event. There are something like 100K public schools and what, 10 of these types of active shooter incidents a year, tops? Yeah, chances are very good there wasn't an incident at those schools, but also good chances it's not because of armed teachers either. To me it wouldn't make sense that these shooters - who plan, bring multiple weapons, want to be killed, and have started wearing body armor are going to stop their plan because a couple teachers could be armed. I'm open to proof that's not the case though.
