I think we can give each other more credit than this. No, that's not quite was I was asking. We all understand crime in general goes up as poverty does. More specifically, if it was just economics I'd expect this in other areas and communities with similar results, but it doesn't seem to be. It's also not in their neighborhoods, it's more commercial districts. To me, something else is going on than simply shrugging it off as poor kids doing poor kid stuff.

I'll ask you the same question then, why are they doing it if this is the case?

0% chance they are doing this if there is a high risk of serving 6months for a few hundred bucks of merch. So it's either very hard to prosecute/identify these people, if caught they aren't punished properly, or a bit of both.

Mostly my point was to laugh at how easily wound up you get, which is also why these guys bring it up. BUT, I believe more what their and my point was is that we should be thinking about where they get the idea that this is ok. This isn't just one person, and examples like this are becoming more common. Is it lax laws? simple anti-corporation crap? a feeling of entitlement? To me clearly something is wrong - groups of people don't do this without the reward being higher than the risk. Why do you think this is becoming a common thing? I used to own a small business, and this pisses me off to no end.

And here is where your "team" mentality comes into. Yes, that was democrats. Yes, I am against that and said as much, as did most if not all of the "lefties" on these two boards. That is the difference - I can read posts, and the righties very rarely step away from the "it was just a photo op" type of nonsense posts. One of the clearest examples I see around here of posters being hypocritical in their stances.

Honestly, I think it's more the social media bubble that is too easy to create. It's one of the clearest examples around here where they act like the people they supposedly hate on the left. Rational people do and have said: protest = cool, B&E/violence/looting = go to jail. Too bad that doesn't seem to apply to most of the posters here.

I guess you can still debate if it makes you "wise" or not, but I don't think it's coincidence that it's a very similar stat when you look at breakdowns by age and religious beliefs. It goes from 40-45% when younger to 60-65% as you get older. Talking about attendance, importance of religion in their life, etc.
