No racism here. Nope, Not at all.

Again, read the article closer. It's not just black people, so your math and stats aren't accurate. It's POC, and Asians were hired on about the same % as blacks despite 1/2 the representation in the population, and hispanics were hired the most. So if you combine those populations, you get little different number - 14% of the population black, 7% asian, and 20% hipanic. So more accurately, about 40% of the population got 94% of those hires. ALSO, those populations are growing, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was more applications from college grads representing these populations. Still skewed, and we agree that it's wrong to hire based on a box or skin, but let's also talk honestly about the numbers.

Why wouldn't I believe you? I acknowledged that was happening in my 2nd paragraph.

Of course. There was discussion in the other thread about people like Kendi and their worldview of looking at an outcome and crying racism. Yet, we start off this thread by doing the same - jumping to claims of racism because of an outcome. Situations like kilroy has encountered are not uncommon, and seems to be more so in the corporate world as the article was following. Those types of policies if they are doing it to check off a box are 100% wrong. But, other things can also lead to similar rises in those numbers we discussed as well, as I pointed out. As I said, 94% was shocking to me, and I didn't expect that high of a number. I'm not saying it's the same thing as what they were looking at, but our store would probably look very similar. About 5 years ago there were about 2 Latinos and 1 black person working here. Now, most of our morning staff is Latino, we have a black manager and about 4 others working here. At no time was it a conscious decision to hire these people to bump up those numbers. We have never been contacted from corporate for any initiative to do so. It was more to do with who was applying, people started recommending family and friends to then got hired, etc.. Completely natural reasons for the numbers to be a lot bigger here, that have nothing to do with racism.

They don't, and the article said as much. It could be a white dude retired and got replaced by poc, it could be a new position, it could be a quota, etc. It's also more than 14%- They aren't just tracking black employees.

There are good and bad ways to do this though. A company choosing to do this is one thing, a company made to do it for a quota or number is another. Even the article said at the bottom they couldn't fully parse out the reasons, they could just use the net numbers. That said, don't you think that 94% is a bit of a shocking number? I wouldn't have expected it to be that high, and I found that and the article interesting.

    TV Writer Strike!

Hell, I'd be happy if you actually listed a couple that you found really woke, or provided a reason why some you listed you found to be really woke. But the point remains that as you do that I could also keep listing movies and shows that are not woke as an example, which I also did above. I've encountered so many old grumps like you at my stores and I always found it funny that you focus on stuff that's not even intended for you (superhero movies, Disney stuff, Barbie,) and complain about how ALL of Hollywood is this or that, there's no good movies or shows anymore, everything is woke, etc (often when I ask they haven't even seen the movie or show they were b1tching about either). For some reason you choose to believe you are swimming in an unavoidable sea of woke, when you can largely avoid it by choosing a different service or watching movies that aren't meant for teenagers.

You listed a fraction of the movies and shows that are out there that you can largely avoid by not subscribing to Disney+. You rant and rave about all of Hollywood being woke, but of course skip over very popular stuff like Mission Impossible, Fast and Furious, Maverick and a ton of non-Disney shows we could talk about. How about Creed franchise? You are a grown man, stop watching Star Wars and superhero movies if they upset you that much. Maybe watch Liam Neeson and Keanu kick some ass, instead of dudes in capes?

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit. I didn't say you couldn't be critical, I said it was funny to me that you of all people here would post it. Neither is answering pretty easy questions, like: What is it you are looking for that you can't find out there? and the other day I asked you something on the lines of: can you provide examples of TV shows that have gone too far or are all woke?

North Carolina Mom. Nail meet head.

Seriously, why would this lady and video be the end all be all on this topic for you? There is no context to what she is talking about, and my impression is that she seems to be blaming low math and reading scores on lqbtq+ issues in the school. I'm guessing I would agree with her about certain books in libraries, and the creep of gender topics in school. After that, people like her is where the right loses me on the issue of schools. One, there is more to school than just math and reading. It's such a dumb concept and really makes people look silly when they bring it up. Two, there is never any nuance or context about ages. My son turns 18 at the start of his Senior year of HS. I was 13 when I started, and I wasn't the youngest. So just there you have a building that needs to think about a wide range of abilities, ages, and topics. To blankly say students can't handle or don't need to talk about adult topics at a place where you have 17 and 18 year olds taking AP classes and prepping for college again, is a bit silly IMO. No context or nuance, just "the kids!!" Third, 100% a school is a place for counseling. Are we supposed to ignore the mental health needs of our kids while they are at school? Yes, it doesn't need to be done in Lit class, but again - she is not articulate enough to make that separation. Lastly, 100% her peers are in mental health crisis. Look at the rate of depression and suicide spiking in all ages.

This is even funnier considering you mostly post the same things over and over. What is it that you can't find on the dozens of streaming services, on TV, or in the theater?

    Goodbye Russel Brand

Gotcha, so in your mind what exactly happens? We can start posting examples of people who speak out against the war and big pharma who aren't kicked platforms and "silenced". So it can't be JUST that he was doing that. Please explain your theory - is there a magical threshold of talking too much about it or being too popular, and then they get you? Or do "they" actively do this and seek out dirt on anybody who speaks out, but only find it with some. In your mind are all these women lying?

Downplaying assualt on cops and sexual assualt? U.S.A.! U.S.A.! True patriot, that one.

    Trump Loves Soldiers

It's really bizarre. Most don't seem to have any consistent set of beliefs besides "left bad, right good". It makes you defend somebody trashing vets and pretending assault on cops isn't a big deal.

    Trump Loves Soldiers

This is one of the weirdest "wins" I've seen around here yet. Also the dude's been in politics for about 80 more years. I think it's accurate to say that just about any recent president was involved in war in some way and got soldiers killed. Only one that I can think of did so by also ridiculing soldiers who served. You guys really have gotten away from what you supposedly stand for. Pro-military and can't bring yourself to just say Trump is a POS for talking about vets like this.

Jon showing his true colors tonight.
  16. See that's where you "just selfies" freaks can fock off if ever talking about supporting cops again. I can't imagine being so focked up on the partisan Kool-Aid to post something like the above. Nope, not the beating the hell out of cops - their biggest crime was putting their feet on Pelosi's desk. Sorry about being wrong above. The new jon isn't funnier, just turned into a POS.
  17. Sometimes I miss mildly rational FBGs jonmx, but this version is funnier. We need to get you paranoid old kooks a bunker together somewhere.

Doh! Forgot that detail when posting, thanks. Probably not much difference at all besides pushing some dates back a bit then.

If it goes on awhile we will see similar to COVID - a gap in movie releases and shows as nobody could finish projects. Just this time they can't get them written instead can't have people together to make them.

I imagine these grumps just watching old shows like Hee Haw and Gunsmoke. Anything 1980s on probably got too woke somehow.

OR people cared more because a "womanizer" and drug addict aren't the same as committing assault or rape.

That was my first thought - "wait, is that Seth Green in the picture?"
  23. Do you bother to read or understand other people's positions about 1/6? Also, that bolded largely ignores the cache of guns being held elsewhere. It definitely wasn't a majority of the crowd, but 100% there were people there willing to take it as far as the people outside the judges houses were.

    Boom! Disney getting canceled 🤣😅

I'm all for people doing what they like for the most part, but I will admit - I judge.

    Boom! Disney getting canceled 🤣😅

It pains me to say it, but I am on HT's side on this one. I do think it's a bit weird for grown adults to go to Disneyland by themselves with no kids. If you want just the rides, why wouldn't something like Six Flags or other spots with rides and rollercoasters be the destination? Also, I've always pretty much hated Disney stuff, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
