  1. Well, I think there is some level of that in the Hispanic and NA communities. But this is largely my point and where I get annoyed with people falling back on the race stuff. IMO 80%+ of the issues with the black community are addressed by addressing poverty and education as a whole in the country. Add a couple things like war on drugs and how we teach reading, and I think we are well on our way. By doing this we ignore race and give a boost to all these communities getting left behind. I am saying provide these things to all those communities you lists and poor white communities. IMO conservatives as a whole seem to saying don't do that and let them fix themselves, or at least I get that impression reading posts on these boards from that side of the aisle.
  2. 1. No. You are really showing your age on this one though. I think you guys look silly when you talk about rap music so much. 2. No. I also have never encountered this sentiment IRL. I'm sure we can find some crazy blacks online that believe that though. 3. Yes, but they largely disliked each other. They got divorced later in life after I left. All us kids felt the same - just divorce and spare us the anger and tension. My friends were a mixed bag, but there was still plenty of divorce. To me, these are still not things that are exclusive to the AA community. You all love to point out rap music - do you take even a few minutes to think what our music and movies set as an example? The 90s were so assaulty/rapey, basic guns out to solve issues, etc. Yeah, a bunch of us want to be a rock star too - do you think that's to earn and honest living and start a family, or mostly to drink, fock, and fight? A big difference that I see is that because of their conditions when I read books and interviews on sports stars and rappers, one common thing that comes up is they largely felt like their options in the community were: ball, rap, or sell drugs. @peenie - made a great point earlier by pointing out that people should also pause to think about who is largely putting those images out there and deciding what to air and play. #3 is why I largely don't think the preservation of the family unit is the end all be all. Just having a and a vagina in the house, doesn't mean it's a loving and supportive family. Divorce rate is high in all communities, and when it's not - from my experience they are riddled with parents who largely dislike each other and are staying together "for the kids", you have abuse, or you just have disengaged parents. When I read "preserve the family unit" these are the things that go through my head and I think it's too simplistic. Yes, in theory having 2 parents in the house is ideal. But I add in important descriptors like loving, caring, engaged, sober, etc.. That is the stuff you can't force.
  3. Why is that funny? Despite what you dipsh1ts believe I am not Democrat. Yes, I vote for them (as well as R, but mostly I). I often disagree with their policies, and agree many of their policies have lead to this outcome.
  4. When the fock have I said it's hopeless? Read my posts or don't respond. I am not going to argue dumb liberal positions just because you THINK I am one.
  5. I come from white trash. Damn near every problem I see put on the black community in these thresds, I largely see in my family and their "community" - welfare, uneducated, multiple fathers nowhere to be seen, single moms, don't give a crap about school. On and on. I don't see it as an AA problem, I see it as a poor and uneducated issue. Please tell me what is specific to the black community that is not what I describe above and is specific to black people that maybe I am not understanding.
  6. Do you think different barriers and difficulties largely serve this function though? I don't think of it as some powerful hand of racism holding people back in our country, but 100% there is a significant wealth gap and class division that has gotten worse and worse. To me that is largely where our issues lie. I am all for personal responsibility and decisions. I also live in the real world and understand me making the decision to be involved with my kids is different than somebody in the inner city or in poor rural areas deciding to do the same. Our environment and circumstances are not the same, it's just not. That's why I bristle and push back so much with the idea of just simply fixing black culture, because 1. IMO it's poor/uneducated culture, not black - and just focusing on one subsection ignores the others struggling, and 2. IMO there needs to be better infrastructure and improvement of conditions to foster better decisions and lifestyles. I am not sure how "they" fix that by themselves.

I love how you post this constantly then bust somebody chops in the Boebert thread about letting his imagination getting away with him and getting off on it. Was it too straight for you, and it was getting in your way of the glory hole fantasies, gb? It's focking weird, man.
  8. By that thinking you would think the few areas where that is not the case they would be head and shoulders above the D cities in these categories, right? Shouldn't their crime stats be better, their violence be down, and evidently their math scores should be up. How are those rural communities doing in these categories where they are far from the reaches of the evil dems?
  9. So when you posted that it was "by and large a race thing", you weren't being serious? Basically every single big city is D run, correct? Why is it when a city like Balt has issues like this, it's a Democrat policy issue? So the other cities run by Dems not having similar issues it's what exactly? Just curious - are liberal havens like Oregon struggling with math or do you just pick and choose when you blame Dems? Jacksonville is an example of a R run city in a R run state - no issues with math there in minority communities? I know they have similar or worse crime numbers than those evil Democratic cities, but I'm sure they are crushing it in education.
  10. 100%, I was incorrect in that post, @jerryskids - I confused you with someone else in this thread. My apologies.

Most of the conversation in the last couple days, which you decided to start responding to, has very little to do with the content of the movie. If you would bother to read posts, you'd know that. Ah, now we are on to the "but what do you do??" type of b.s.. You got me, and you are correct. I haven't saved kids from a situation I helped created while (allegedly) assualting women in the process and grifting money off people who honestly believe they are doing good. I am happy with that.

Give him a break, he's getting old. It takes him a bit to get the cheerleader outfit on and find the pom poms. Surprised he still has the balls to show up in these topics after posting he didn't care about immigrants falling prey to traffickers.

Jon thinks this is all about the movie few of us have seen.
  14. A huge fundamental change that was made across the board was the switch away from phonics to learn how to read. It's been shown that it's a good way to learn to read, especially for kids who don't have books at home or parents that are setting that example. It's no wonder poorer communities start to struggle when they fall behind from the start with reading. That seems to be a simple, cheap great first step to implement.
  15. Again, I am also saying that the culture and the family is contributing. The people this describes are poor, uneducated people like I said. There is more than enough of those people to go around here where there is hardly any black people. IMO it's correct to say that it presents more in the black community because unfortunately poor and uneducated is in higher supply there statistically, but to say it's a race issue is another thing. That's why I was largely agreeing with tim on the point here and pointing out people were bringing up it being a race thing, and ironically it wasn't from the left side of the aisle.
  16. RLLD - speaking frankly, 1 person said it was a race thing and another very heavily implied it.
  17. That opinion is all on you then, I fully disagree. At least you have the balls to say your opinion instead of hiding behind it like others do. You and Jerry seem to both be playing the race card.
  18. Maybe I missed a post skimming, but so far the only posts with "systemic racism" in them are from the righties. Why is everything about race with you guys?
  19. Sure, that's what I did despite posts saying that it for sure is an important piece of the puzzle, but I didn't believe that was the ONLY solution and for the kids currently in school that shouldn't be where we start. Most of you are so dug into your partisan worldview that you think there is only one solution, or if somebody would start attacking the problem different they fully disregard your idea. Maybe actually read people's posts?
  20. Double down on dumb ideas. America! It's the new way though - throw around words like racist, pedo, Nazi, groomer! WTF? How do we then expect a) the person you are calling that to listen to you about anything or b) you ever go back on that position if shown to be wrong? That is what politics in the good ol' USA looks like now.
  21. LOL, I said this same thing, dipsh1t. Yes, we should ask them what they are doing with the funding. Sorry, I guess I didn't use enough "IT'S THE DEMS FAULT!!!!" for your partisan virtue signaling brain to understand I am agreeing with you on that point.
  22. I think many admit it, but they have largely backed themselves into a corner to having any solutions overall. The problem with these parties is they go so over the top with the stupid rhetoric that normal solutions admitting you are wrong aren't largely possible. For example, if you spend years yelling racism!! about a policy that was implemented to stop the flow of immigrants isn't it hard to suggest any reasonable measure to slow or stop that flow?
  23. Focking A - did all of go to school in Balt too? That was tongue in cheek, hence the little winky face because you righties can't tell the difference and jump on any tidbit like that, I also never said ALL. Lighten up a little. Did I say a thing about throwing more money at it? About the most I said was it would be interesting to see where the funding went. I advocate for effective use of money and government, not more of it.
  24. IMO it often comes with a lack of empathy. I said nothing for personal responsibility. I am all for that. Notice I said nothing about it being the fault of Rs or Ds, or said a thing about systemic racism. That's on you.
  25. I would wager that much of that money isn't going to direct education of the kids. I would also love to see where what all that money went to. More armed security guards and bulletproof windows?
