  1. I think it has more to with our policing methods historically and still today. I think there are real historical reasons where this distrust of police and resistance of authority is understandable. Note I didn't say justifiable. Like things I don't view this as racism, I see it as something that affects poor and high crime areas ...well which then affects the black community more.
  2. I don't remember, and that's a reason I wanted to find it again. That fact just stuck in my head.
  3. I saw an interesting study out of TX a bit ago, and I need to look for it again to post. Their conclusion was not the same as bolded. It showed death by cop is more likely for whites, but when it came to reports of abuse and assault, it was more common in the black population.
  4. It is on me, and we will just disagree on key points like the bolded. I agree it's human nature to get caught up and do some things. I just don't think it's a reasonable or intelligent response - again, the key for me is I'd guess damn near every person in that capital hated the people on the left for destroying their country. I'm also not talking about how the law sees these things, that's a separate discussion. I am speaking directly about the people's choices that day, and you and others on the right ability to post so often what sounds to me like justification for actions that you hated from the left. Using your example from your company it would be more like if after all that, hating that person getting away with it, complaining about it - you get caught stealing some documents. You seem to be arguing that to you that is a reasonable response. Nope. To me a reasonable response is more like learning a lesson from the summer of love, realizing those people were duped (the right loves to point out when the other side's politicians and media are manipulating them), and choosing to not act that way or excusing those who did.

What is your opinion of Whoopi Goldberg?

    Head, pits, or cooch?

I don't remember liking her or her movies then, and definitely dislike her now. I guess she was alright in Girl, Interrupted? That's the best I could come up with looking at her imdb, and mostly laughed at how crappy most of the stuff she was in has been.
  7. Dude, unless he grabbed a bullhorn and yelled "hey everybody, march down and storm the capital" these clowns are just going to play that "but he didn't SAY that" dumb game. Anybody with half a brain and a nugget of honestly can say we all know what he was doing and what he wanted to happen on 1/6. Maybe it's a decent compromise to say that at the very least he had within his power the ability to get them to not do it and didn't. Is that a fairer statement for both sides, maybe?
  8. But not by the right, correct? That's the difference, and that's my point. So after years of railing on them, like I said the tone of your post and many others I see comes off just as that - but the libs did it, how could you possibly expect us to react any differently? Spare me. I will stand by my statements earlier. Feel free to continue to point one justifying the other, I will continue to call bs and point out the hypocrisy.
  9. This is the dumbest, most childish of reactions. If it wasn't so destructive, it would be funny how often the people of the "party of personal responsibility" trot out what amounts to "bbbbbbut the libs did it first!!". FFS maybe be an adult and be better than the people you supposedly hate, not act like them?
  10. There are a few things that contribute to this. Some of the cases end up being justified and nothing like how it was presented. But largely media runs with the "yet another black person gunned down" narrative and hammers that from jump, so as a result of that you have huge numbers of people who legit believe black people are being murdered without consequences, because they are black, all over the country. There were polls being done showing Democrats believing 1000s and 1000s of blacks being murdered, instead of the accurate 220-250/year. And that is shot to death without qualifier, so we can't pretend even all of those were unjust. We are not huge on stats and facts as a populace, so we are quite easily manipulated into believing this stuff.

Sure, but usually when one does that they at least attempt to find something similar to compare to. So maybe explain why a drunken vehicular homicide belongs beside cases for 1/6 for legal comparison. Is your theory really that the judge gave him leniency because it was a crime vs. a conservative? I mean right in the articles on the case it reads: The case quickly became controversial after an affidavit from police suggested that Brandt had run down Ellingson following a political disagreement, a claim investigators backtracked later after little evidence supported the assertion. Oh, I agree the judicial system is being politicized overall. We could start with SC, but something tells me you don't also count that. I just thought the example you were trying to use here was the flimsiest of examples that you dorks lap up on Twitter for some unknown reason. Well, not unknown, I do know why.

Maybe I should ask what exactly is your take and why is KSB's a legit case for comparison? I don't know why it was plead down to manslaughter, but that is not uncommon. I was surprised it was only a max of 10 years he could have gotten. Of course I would rather he was charged with murder, and if not got the max 10 years. IF you are purely talking that you wish we were punishing all these crimes harder, I am there with you. IF you are saying it's all because of the Ds getting off while trying to hold the conservative man down?

Maybe he used the "but I REALLY believed it" that jon was ok with or the "look other people did bad things" excuse that seafoam seems to subscribe to?
  14. To me, the reason the people were there in the first place on 1/6 was worse than the reason people were there for BLM protests. Both were sold lies, but one legit wanted to stop a core democratic process in our country. Once the protesters crossed that line? Of course 1/6 pales in comparison to the riots over the summer of love in terms of destruction and casualties.

MTG blasted by her own party

This is where I sit. Anybody truly in the middle should be a bit cautious to cheer this on, IMO. Neither party is interested in even talking to the other at this point, so I am not sure how we get back to that balance and working together. Honestly, I'm not sure we do. I would also argue that this is more troubling because a key piece to the puzzle is already in place - the SCOTUS. All right government and SC is not what we need either. From where I sit, both parties are being governed and lead by the extremes, but IMO we are a lot closer to Gilead than we are Woke lawlessness, speaking country-wide.

Yeah, I am sure "balance" is their goal.

Yeah, let's go down the road of allowing the excuse that the defendant was stupid to be not held accountable. Probably a reason why jon and seafoam seem to be for that.

    Horror films superthread

There's reasons for it, but I've seen so many horror movies at this point that the quality hit rate is low no matter what 31 I watch. I'm usually digging deep into franchises and watching subpar remakes and sequels.

It's looking like my 31 in October will be a Stephen King theme. God help me.
