Oh, 0 argument there. They should run someone else too, but IMO the dems are in a much worse position than the Ds are as far as having an electable person. I THINK they thought Pete or Harris could be the future, but both failed miserably. His base represents a large % of the GOP voters, so that's what they have to do with it. I was also responding to him, so the point of the independents was lost a little in that response.

To me its by far the worst of the 3, but the timing sucks and I can also see the populace's eyes glazing over from the string of charges and multiple cases. It's easier to put it in the witch hunt category since it's #3.

And I disagree that any of this would negatively effect Trump's chances in the first place, so if it was the plan it's a dumb one. This "witch hunt" sh1t is gold for his base - they eat it up, and it's a reason they rally behind him. It's just more proof of the weaponization of the DOJ to them.

Don't get me wrong, I think there is plenty of good content out there, it's just mostly not at your local movie theater anymore - it's on a streaming service. But I still enjoy going to the theater, I just wish there was more variety when I did want to go.

They are out there, though. I liked Haywire by Soderburgh and the movie Hannah. Kick ass females with a bit of character and development. But as expected, you have to look for more artsy directors or out of the lane of superheros/big IPs.

I guess I don't see a ton of character and nuance to most of the male action characters and superheroes, either. A little, but mostly they are wish fulfilment blunt object types. Now we just see women doing largely the same thing. There also isn't a ton of them to compare, so keep that in mind too. Maybe not the A list characters in the movies like Cpt. Marvel, but sticking to the Marvel universe I've found characters like Wanda and Black Widow interesting. Like somebody said above, this is way down the list of gripes I have of movies today. Mostly they aren't interesting because it's largely the same cookie cutter sequel/remake stuff that makes all the money. It's funny to look at the top grossing movies from the 80s and 90s vs. today. 30 years ago the top box office for July 1993: The Firm, Jurassic Park, In the Line of Fire, Sleepless in Seattle, Rookie of the Year, Dennis the Menace, Free Willy, Son in Law, Hocus Pocus. I miss those days.

To me, the more harm than good part would be for people following the lead and giving money and time to a questionable organization that either is a grift or doesn't use much of the money donated. Better than nothing you could counter, but I really hate those types of organizations across the board. Way too often people's money is getting wasted. To the 'awareness' part, I'd be curious as to what people would answer they were made aware of after exiting the movie. Seems like a large portion of the people seeing the movie know about child trafficking - they are mostly just supporting somebody making a movie about an important issue. I saw/read that the Latino population make up a good portion of the movie watchers as well, again - pretty sure they know it's a thing. That's not everybody, and that's the point of doing things like Hawk's buddy did and give out tix. My concern, and Rodger confirmed it earlier, is that the undercurrent of the movie is kids being kidnapped and brought to the US- which is true and should be talked about, but because of the people behind it and the people largely touting it - the part not being said outloud is "for the dems' pedo rings!". To me, this where the debate about the "more harm than good" comes into play. Not because some people will be aware of child trafficking, is because of that part attached to the movie because of the messengers. IMO, but again debatable, the more likely outcome because we are all generally lazy as a country is more people will get turn on to that good/evil nonsense you highlighted earlier than will raise a finger to do anything meaningful for child trafficking.
