Anyone getting Peacock for the Chiefs game?

Lol. However you guys want to justify it. I am sure when you ask the people grabbing crap out of the stores at the mall, they have similar excuses about the man too.

    Houthi rebels vow fierce retaliation

Some of the delay has to be that fact that retaliation from us = war. I'm not sure what level we needed to be at to make sure when that happens Israel doesn't get turned to dust, but my assumption was that the delay was to get to that level or as close to it as we could. And also, yes - to hope Netanyahu eases off the gas a bit.

Some of it is. Yes, Biden is weak. As I said, I have 0 clue how this relationship progressed to you can do whatever you want in retaliation and we won't say anything. My understanding is other presidents have been able to tell Netanyahu to pound sand. This is on Biden.

I think you vastly underestimate the hatred between groups over there and the desire for many people to start a war in the ME over religious and other reasons. I think of Houthi and these others as arms of Iran, not a some separate entity that would be offended by that strategy.

Gives a great reason for Iran to attempt to wipe out Israel and at the same time isolate us in the world as we get dragged in with them?

    Houthi rebels vow fierce retaliation

Were you saying our motivation is supporting Israel? Again, I see that to a point, but if we aren't willing to step in and force them to reign it in, what does that say about us? Either we are OK with what is being considered a genocide, or at the very least not OK but still like all the profits it gives us. That's what I am having trouble with - why we give these countries blank checks and unconditional support. I think that and I am sure many Israelis would love to know how Oct 7th happened in the first place. My understanding is they had way too many troops in the West Bank protecting their expansions (which is also an issue) and many people want Netanyahu's head for Oct 7th in the first place. All of this is what HE wants and wanted.

100%, and so he has all the reason in the world to keep war going. As soon as it stops he is out and has to answer for some things. I fully understand his motivations for war. I don't fully understand ours. Just profit over people and feeding the MIC doesn't seem to cover this willingness to start this big of a war for me.

Read: the US is not going to take support away. That is the core of the problem. For whatever reason we are behind them 100%, no questions asked, we can't/don't want to do anything about it. We are seeing other countries' support waning because of methods in Gaza, which is why I say this feels to me very different than other wars have gotten ourselves into. It feels like it's largely setting up as US + Israel vs the ME at least. Currently we won't have much backing if we retaliate vs. the Houthi's because much of the world sees Israel in the wrong and us right beside them and very much responsible. I agree, we can't let them fire on us at will, but the consequences are dire when we do so, IMO. We shouldn't be in this position in the first place is where my main beef lines.

Do you think the Geek Club is racist?

Of course. I am bigoted towards religious fundamentalists and people with face tattoos. I also am aware of that and acknowledge that. People here seem to have trouble understanding, or don't have the honesty to admit, that they are bigoted towards a group - take AAs for example since I posted that above. I'm not sure how else to take positions like black men don't want to succeed or many references to "them" be it culturally or otherwise.

We seem incapable of doing any of this though, which is infuriating to me. One of the random podcasts I listen to (pretty sure Krystal and Saager) said yesterday Biden hasn't talked to Netanyahu in about 3 weeks? I hope I heard wrong. So my retort is no, I guess we can't do both of these. Let's be real - we have all the power to tell countries like Ukraine and Israel to do what we want. It's no secret (especially to the rest of the world) that this is our money and weapons being used. That we don't and we seem to be more than willing to let them treat the situation like a blank check with no questions asked it has to be the end goal for us too. Is it simply the war machine and profits over people, or are there other explanations? I was just pointing out the obvious - us saying it's "time to blow some sh1t up" = escalating war and bringing Hezbollah, Iran, etc. into the mix as well. That is not ideal either.

Nah, they are pretty clear in their posting. The GC isn't racist but there is bigotry towards AAs.

I think the better alternative was forcing Israel to call a cease fire or at the very least using the fact that we are supplying the war for them to act differently. This seems to be very different, in that it's lining up to be basically US + Israel vs. the rest of the world. We know they (everybody in the ME) want to drag us into war, and they are currently using the situation in Gaza for justification. They will have more ammo (pun intended) IF it's ruled that Israel is in fact committing war crimes in the process and we are doing nothing to stop it either. It's getting bad when our other allies and even the Saudi's are getting behind South Africa on this.

Sure, but isn't the stick in this case regional war in the ME?

Welp, Trump has no chance of winning now

That is more important to me than the abortion issue. I understand and accept that others might not share that opinion. I could see Alaskans and Hawaiians not caring much about the issue for starters.

Welp, Trump has no chance of winning now

I love when posters here try to tell others what the 3 major issues should be for them. Reality is, it very much is an issue that gets the people out and the last few years have shown that. It just seems the right refuses to believe or understand that and seems to want to push more and more towards bans that aren't popular at all with the public.

Welp, Trump has no chance of winning now

100% there is a bit of this, but also there is a healthy dose of wanting to have his name on everything and be constantly praised. I think this impulse is what we are seeing here. A smarter politician would just be able to STFU, realizing that this is an issue that will get people out to vote against him. Sleepy Joe is DOA in 2024, Trump just needs to stay out of jail and his own way. It seems he is incapable of that 2nd one.

Honest for sure wasn't the correct term. He has no filter, and says what comes to mind, that is different
  19. Yes, I was only speaking of POTUS. I guess we all need to post a pic of our ballots. For every election for the GC detectives. Get past president around here and it's a bit of 1 or 2 options.
  20. "you vote for the same people". Yeah, there's usually 2 choices. Chances are you are voting for the same people as other Americans you really don't like. Math is hard.
  21. I would LOVE for MAGA nation to get this fact too.
  22. "Murder house" lol. Where do you guys get this sh1t?
  23. No, you didn't. You just posted "you guys" as I and others were posting. Way off base assuming you were including me in that comment, as often happens around here. My deepest apologies.
  24. A little. I think it's more that Tim is a rightie wet dream - loves open borders, says how great woke is, and other triggers for them. He represents what they believe everybody left of them thinks. It's great fodder for partisan cheerleaders.
