Pretty good racket." timschochet: "Democrats are more to blame than Republicans for the situation we face. Republicans are generally opposed to illegal immigration, but Democrats had the power to grant a path to citizenship in 2009. They did not do so because they are scared and also because they want to continue to use this issue to garner support among Latinos, but not lose white labor votes. Between the two parties it’s the Democrats who IMO have behaved more shamefully."
  5. Liz Cheney trashes House Republicans, Kevin McCarthy for ‘elevating’ members who are ‘white supremacists’ and ‘antisemitic’ ....Former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney blistered House Republicans Sunday over the turmoil over the speakership – accusing Rep. Kevin McCarthy of cultivating a hotbed of extremism that led to the recent chaos.....“What we’ve seen is a result of the leadership decisions that Kevin McCarthy made back after the 2020 election and certainly after January 6,” Cheney, a Republican, said of the ousted House speaker during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.”....“Looking the other way in the face of the kind of assault on our democracy that we’ve seen from Donald Trump and his allies in the House, including Jim Jordan; elevating those members, frankly, some of whom are white supremacists, some of whom are antisemitic,” she went on......did not specify which House Republicans she believed were harboring white supremacist or antisemitic sympathies. Cheney served in the lower chamber from 2017 until January 2023 when she was taken down in a primary by Rep. Harriet Hageman......“Listen to what you’re saying, that’s crazy!” CNN host Jake Tapper interjected after Cheney talked about the damage her endorsement could do. “You’re super conservative. More than any of the House Republican leadership. You are more conservative than the woman who replaced you — Elise Stefanik — you’re just not nuts and anti-democracy!".....“I think that is a testament about where we are as a country today,” Cheney responded. “And we have to have a party that gets back to advocating those conservative policies and embracing the constitution. That is not what the Republican party is doing today.” .....The daughter of former vice president Cheney, she rapidly rose through the House GOP ranks during her tenure in Congress, ascending to the No. 3 post of chair of the House Republican Conference when her party was in the minority..... She was booted from the No. 3 House GOP leadership perch in May 2021....Cheney has plans to release a book detailing what she believes went wrong with the GOP.....She also has not ruled out a run for president in 2024. https://nypost.com/2023/10/22/liz-cheney-trashes-house-gop-for-elevating-white-supremacists-and-antisemitists/

With the benefit of hindsight (although many were saying this at the time so it's not exactly Monday morning quarterbacking), that was a massive unforced error over the span of nearly a half century. The Republicans certainly haven't been helpful on the topic of climate change, but Democrats have been actively harmful. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that our retreat from nuclear power over the last half-century or so has been the single most destructive mistake that we've made as a society on this issue. It's the sort of decision that an evil super-villain might have made if they were intentionally trying to make climate change worse. Today we have a broader portfolio of non-fossil fuel sources, so nuclear only needs to be one arrow in the proverbial quiver. But that's a lot of damage already done, and it's 100% on you guys." timschochet: "I’m forced to agree with this criticism." https://forums.footballguys.com/threads/the-atlantic-democrats-really-are-that-dense-about-climate-change-6-23-22-01-00-pst.804777/post-24078388 timschochet: "But my main point continues to be: for all their faults and errors, at least the Democrats are making proposals and addressing the issue. Meanwhile the Republican alternative is to simply ignore it and expand oil drilling. Therefore my proposition remains valid: if you truly care about this issue as the priority of our times, you must vote Democrat. There is no good alternative." "America is producing more oil today than at any time in the last eight years. . . . We’ve quadrupled the number of operating rigs to a record high. We’ve added enough new oil and gas pipeline to encircle the Earth and then some......Suddenly America’s like the biggest oil producer and the biggest gas — that was me, people.” - President Barack Obama

Kyle Rittenhouse - Criminal or Hero?

Team Blue and the DNC fund raised off of anti-Rittenhouse sentiment. You win elections via money. It's not the only factor, but it's a major factor. The more money you can spend, the more votes you can buy or leverage and the more you can advertise yourself. From the fundraising perspective alone, Rittenhouse created incredible damage for the long term goals of Conservatives all around the country. I do believe Rittenhouse, in those specific instances, acted in self defense. I also don't believe he operated in good faith as to how those who are Pro-2A should operate and conduct themselves for the greater good of gun rights for all. He also set back the Pro-2A movement in general. He's a net negative for Conservatives and/or Republicans. He allowed Team Blue and the DNC and what's left of the Obama/Biden regime to change the national conversation away from their own horrific failures. By beating the Rittenhouse drum, it took away from real conversation needed about housing, health care, education, the horrible vaccine mandates, the Afghanistan withdrawal that was a disaster, etc, etc. So yet again, in another way, he hurt Conservatives ( To be fair, Trump's need to be the center of attention also draws away from needed national conversation about things that truly impact the working class like inflation and housing) What Rittenhouse deserved is due process. And you are right if you assess that Team Blue and the DNC did everything possible to deny that from him. That being said, it's a cautionary tale. Don't give Team Blue any ammo to use against you. If Rittenhouse was in a situation in his own home, people broke in, and he had no other choice, that's one thing. But he went out there into a riot of his own volition. Nothing good was going to come of that. You'll notice both Conservative media and the activist media want nothing to do with him. The former because he's a total liability. The latter because they've self destructed on civil order so badly, that even a total mess like Rittenhouse starts to look somewhat reasonable in comparison ( it's not however reasonable IMHO) AT MINIMUM, to cut off Team Blue's fundraising efforts, it's imperative that Rittenhouse is isolated out and ignored totally by all Conservatives in public. The best way to cut off leftist "authoritarianism" as you say it, is to win more elections. Lots of them. I respect you jon, very much, you know that. But Conservatives need to punt on this kid. For the greater good and for the long haul.

Barack Obama Is a Climate Hypocrite In March of 2012, Obama gave a speech in Cushing, Oklahoma in which he touted “what we’re calling an all-of-the-above energy strategy.” That month, more than fifteen thousand warm temperature records were broken in the United States, making it the hottest March ever recorded — developments that were likely exacerbated by climate change. He told the crowd, “Under my administration, America is producing more oil today than at any time in the last eight years. . . . We’ve quadrupled the number of operating rigs to a record high. We’ve added enough new oil and gas pipeline [sic] to encircle the Earth and then some.” ....Obama went on: “As long as I’m president, we’re going to keep on encouraging oil development and infrastructure.."....Obama received $1.1 million in campaign donations from the oil and gas industry during his 2012 reelection campaign. In 2015, Obama declared that there was “no greater threat” than climate change. Later that year, he signed legislation lifting the forty-year ban on crude oil exports, a key priority for....the fossil fuel industry, increasing fossil fuel exports by more than 750 percent in the first five years after it was lifted....As president, Obama oversaw an 88 percent increase in total oil production.....“You wouldn’t always know it, but [oil production] went up every year I was president,” said Obama at a 2018 fundraiser for a think tank at Rice University in Texas. “Suddenly America’s like the biggest oil producer and the biggest gas — that was me, people.” https://jacobin.com/2023/08/barack-obama-david-axelrod-fossil-fuel-industry-climate-change-greenwashing-hypocrisy/

Tim, in his own words, doesn't want to use green energy. But he wants that PLUS lower gasoline prices on a national scale while ALSO fighting "climate change" And if it doesn't happen, it's all the fault of Republicans.

Biden his time: how the US president is failing on the climate crisis ....Now, a year into Biden’s presidency, it’s clear that what little optimism I had was misguided. Biden’s climate legacy is starting to take shape, and it doesn’t look good. So far, his administration has: 1. Held the biggest-ever offshore oil drilling lease sale in the Gulf of Mexico In November, Biden offered up 80m acres of water to oil drillers. For years, the US government has regularly leased portions of the Gulf of Mexico for offshore exploration and drilling. But environmental and public health advocates had hoped that the president who campaigned on climate action would at least scale back the practice. 2. Permitted more drilling on public lands in the West and in Alaska than Trump did in his first year Biden has approved nearly 900 more permits to drill on public land in 2021 than Trump did in 2017, according to the Center for Biological Diversity. That’s despite his campaign pledges to end new oil and gas leasing on federal lands. In November, Biden also urged drillers to produce more oil, in an effort to lower gasoline prices. 3. Failed to advance a climate legislative agenda On the campaign trail, Biden promised to cut US climate emissions in half by 2030, including by investing significantly in renewable power. But his legislative package to do so – Build Back Better – has stalled. 4. Faltered in quickly reinstating rules Under Biden, even minor regulations that mandate more energy efficient furnaces, freezers, and lightbulbs are stuck in regulatory limbo. And he could face a significant blow this month if the conservative-tilted supreme court decides the federal government can’t write rules to curb climate pollution from power plants. Biden hasn’t followed through on the basics. And he certainly hasn’t brought the kind of sweeping and aggressive action the world’s scientists say is necessary to avoid catastrophic global heating. This isn’t the first massive failure of climate efforts at the federal level, and it won’t be the last. The lesson: policymakers and industries won’t do the right thing unless they are forced, by our decisions with our ballots and our wallets. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/feb/16/down-to-earth-joe-biden-climate

I do not want people to suffer, ever." https://forums.footballguys.com/threads/official-donald-j-trump-impeachment-whistleblower-thread.780181/page-680#post-23247010 "The nation moves on. We’re going to get a lot of stuff done. COVID will be defeated, and we will deal with climate change and infrastructure and, hopefully immigration. Biden is doing a fine job and things look pretty bright. The Republican Party, and conservatives in general, will not move on. They’re in disarray right now, a train wreck, believing in fake news and conspiracy theories and continuing to stay loyal to the worst President in American history. They’re becoming less relevant every minute, every hour, and Donald Trump is stuck in their heads. I think they’ll right the ship eventually but it’s going to be a while. You can't have it both ways Tim. You can't claim you have so many hundreds of thousands of posts because you have all this "free time", and then attempt to hand wave off the reality that you didn't spend all that magical "free time" to help your own family. You actually risked the lives of your own children. You were willing to let them risk even death so you could splatter a message board with hundreds of thousands of posts. Not only your kids, but there are other people on the road, probably near those schools and areas that kids and parents go, where they could have been also killed by your wife behind the wheel. Do you ever think about that? That your indifference or whatever toxicity going on within you could have gotten other people's children killed? Lots of people at the "other place" are parents. Lots of people here are parents. Do you think any of them have a single shred of respect for you or want anything to do with you after you held your own children up to the altar of your own unrelenting narcissism? "Why does it even matter?" Ask your kids that question. Here's another question you can ask them - "Do you know how to immediately discern if a parent loves their children or not?" The answer is in their actions. Or inaction with clear malice. Where were you when you were needed the most Tim? I find it amusing you were willing to let your own children die for your toxic pathology then decided to broadcast it in public as if you are the good guy here, then seem to be amazed that people are utterly disgusted by you. How much of a worthless human being do you have to be to not even consider, not even just once, the other parents and children on the road when your wife was guzzling down bottle after bottle behind the wheel and you were spending all that "free time" gaslighting strangers on the internet.

I consider the 5000+ who breached the Capitol on J6 to be indefensible. Even if you walked in and touched nothing and walked out, none of that is good for our country. Do I feel there is a double standard from the 2016 election when federal buildings had trespassing and/or worse over Trump winning? Yes, but it's a separate issue. Do I feel there is a double standard right now from what's going on with Pro Palestine protests where federal and state buildings are being breached? Yes, but that's a separate issue. Do I feel there is a double standard over the rioting, looting and burning in 2020 that extended even into 2021? Yes, but that's a separate issue. Do I believe the actions of 5000+ are being used to endlessly smear the 74 million in total who voted for Trump in the 2020 cycle? Yes, but that's a separate issue. My answer is simple. I'd like to see a Constitutional Amendment where everyone who breached the Capitol, no matter how much or for how long or whether there was violence or not, to lose their citizenship and be kicked out of the country. Right after all their assets are seized. BUT (and there's a huge BUT here), that punishment should also happen for everyone who looted, burned, rioted, incited and egged on the violence in 2020. If you want to see 5000+ plus Republicans who breached the Capitol on J6 to get permanently thrown out of the country, I won't argue with you. I'd support that. But I'd also want everyone who destroyed and looted and crushed innocent small business owners and just regular working class Americans in 2020, night after night endlessly to suffer the same fate. That total number will likely tally around 400K people across the country. That will also include Kyle Rittenhouse as well. If you are outside when it's clearly a riot, and part of it, and buildings are burning, then you need to get kicked out. I don't think there's a Conservative in here, right now, who wouldn't trade 5000+ Republicans, many of them zealots, to see over 400K of the worst bad faith actors and deviants from the activist radical left get tossed out too. Two wrongs don't make a right. Two different things can be true at the same time. There were likely some instances in J6, where some people breached and did no violence. Didn't try to hurt anyone. And other instances where some people really tried to hurt others, including the Capitol Police. They are all in the same boat in my book, kick them out. But kick out the 400K as well from 2020. ( Keep in mind this would also toss out, implied, the organizers and ring leaders, which means it would crater small dollar political donations for Team Blue, across the board, for at least two full decades. It would literally guarantee Team Blue and the DNC would lose masses of down the ticket elections for 20 years at minimum, since once you cut off the money spigot, you also make it impossible to win an election.) Put on trial. Citizenship stripped. Assets seized. Thrown out of the country for good. If you attempt to return, you are executed. I'd support a Constitutional Amendment doing that.

I was in a long time dynasty league with a former staff member at "the other place" How it was explained to me ( I had long stretches over there where I didn't post for years and years, I only returned in late 2020 because of the pandemic), was that Tim had multiple aliases, since he was always getting banned all the time for attacking people. And since he was in literally every thread in the politics subsection, he was constantly hitting everyone. So some of his aliases got huge numbers for posting when his original account was banned. At some point, the Staff there stopped trying to regulate his aliases. He just wore them down. So his post total, including his long time aliases, reaches about 250K posts. If you add in Sho Nuff and squistion and their aliases, plus Tim, that's about a half a million posts just between the three of them. Using the place like a toilet. And, as explained to me, some of the people who got banned a lot, started to figure out that if they tried to become "buddy buddy" with Staff members and get on a first name basis with them, that they would not be banned for so long when they did get clipped. So, as told to me, Tim would try to ingratiate himself with anyone with Staff stripes in private to try to reduce his bannings. My take on Tim is he doesn't believe anything he says. Tim just wants attention and wants to punish others because his life sucks. Taking the side of the current radical left and pure activism simply gives a person more rope to attack others. If Tim thought he could personally hit others more by being a Republican, he'd probably do that instead. What @BrahmaBulls is bringing up, is at the other place, in public, and by his own choice to share that information, Tim said his wife was an alcoholic and was drunk driving their two young children through commute daily and risking their lives. Those are Tim's own words. So you begin to do the math here. A guy has a wife who needs intervention and real help. His kids clearly need help, to the point of needing someone to step in to literally protect them from real physical danger, and timschochet instead is punching away a quarter of a million posts basically trying to drive the other place out of business. While, in his own words again in public, paying illegal immigrants sub minimum wage, because he doesn't believe in minimum wage, to haul out trash from "his malls", which implied that the refuse was being illegally dumped elsewhere. And he's only here because this place has not much moderation and he figures he can't be banned here. But it probably makes him angry that he "invested" a quarter of a million posts at the other place and can't talk politics there anymore. The forums over there literally had to go into full lockdown and wipe out most current events discussion to stop Tim. Here's my take - It's one thing if someone doesn't have kids. But who is going to respect someone like Tim, who let his own children have their lives risked, so he could carpet bomb a quarter of a million posts on a fantasy football message board to punish strangers on the internet for all Tim's own personal life failures? And now Tim will cry, or his cohort will cry, that somehow talking about this is crossing a line. Tim brought all this up in public himself, over time, over many posts, to get attention. If he wanted his personal life to stay personal, then don't share it on the internet. He likes to dish it, but he can't take it. Imagine what he will do to this place after he hits 10K posts. Then 25K. Then 50K. And even more. He doesn't hate you. He hates himself. However since you and I and others are in his way, Tim has to make it all our fault. That's what all this is about.
