  2. Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle reportedly floated as potential replacements for Dianne Feinstein ....Oprah Winfrey and Meghan Markle are reportedly among those being considered to replace late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. ....Winfrey's name is among those being floated for the role.....It was announced Friday that Feinstein died at age 90. All eyes have since turned to Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who will appoint someone to serve out the remaining 13 months of Feinstein's term. The two term governor, who attended the second GOP debate in Simi Valley last week on behalf of President Biden's re-election campaign to lead counter Republican messaging, has stated in the past he will appoint a Black woman to the Senate in the event of Feinstein's passing..... ......Newsom reportedly has national ambitions of his own amid rumors of a potential 2028 presidential run. As recently as earlier last week, Newsom insisted he would not challenge Biden in 2024. Meanwhile, sources told The Daily Mail that the Duchess of Sussex's name has also been thrown in the ring as Feinstein's potential replacement. She and Prince Harry reside in Montecito, California......Markle's name was reportedly considered for the U.S. Senate before the 2020 election when Biden chose Sen. Kamala Harris as his running mate. At that time, a senior Labour Party source told the Mail that Markle had been "networking among senior Democrats" on the venture of building a grassroots campaign eventually targeting a presidential bid of her own. ...Markle has grown a close friendship with Gloria Steinem. A friend fo Steinem's told the Mail, "Gloria has been introducing Meghan to pivotal people within the party."...."Meghan is interested in politics more than anything else. That's where she believes her power is, but she has had to focus on making money....." ......Newsom has said he would avoid the field of candidates already campaigning for Feinstein's post, which will be on the ballot next year and includes Rep. Barbara Lee, one of the state's most prominent Black women currently serving in elected office. In the hours after Feinstein's death, Newsom quickly faced calls to honor his commitment to name a Black woman for the role, with some leaders calling on him specifically to name Lee to the post, a reminder of the fraught dynamic Newsom faces with a key Democratic constituency..... A handful of Black women in office have been floated as possibilities, including Secretary of State Shirley Weber and Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly Mitchell. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/oprah-winfrey-meghan-markle-reportedly-floated-potential-replacements-dianne-feinstein
  3. Biden admin quietly released study showing green energy receives far more subsidies than fossil fuels ....'Solar should be competing for sales in the marketplace, not for subsidies in Washington,' top Republican senator tells Fox News Digital....The Biden administration quietly issued a 59-page report outlining the current scope of federal energy-related subsidies revealed that the renewable energy sector enjoys significantly larger taxpayer backing than the fossil fuel industry.....The report — authored by the Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration (EIA) and published in August — represents the first of its kind since 2018. The EIA analyzed data from 2016 through 2022, and determined that, during that time period, the federal government doled out $183.3 billion in direct and mainly indirect taxpayer subsidies, more than half of which came over the last three years. ..... "For years Democrats have claimed technologies like solar energy are cheaper than coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear. This report makes clear that solar is largely dependent on heavy subsidies with taxpayer dollars," Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member John Barrasso, R-Wyo., told Fox News Digital.....In early 2021, Barrasso and Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., requested the analysis to help inform congressional policymaking in a letter to then-EIA Acting Administrator Stephen Nalley. The pair argued such a report would be particularly relevant "as Congress considers calls for a greater level of federal involvement in the nation’s energy systems and markets."....."Under the Biden Administration, American families are paying too much for energy as it is," the Wyoming Republican continued. "They shouldn’t have to fork over their hard-earned money to support liberal special interests. Solar should be competing for sales in the marketplace, not for subsidies in Washington." According to the EIA report, while renewable energy sources like wind and solar power account for about 21% of domestic electricity production, such sources received a staggering $83.8 billion in subsidies, by far the largest share compared to any other category. Energy end use subsidies, like energy efficiency- and conservation-related tax provisions, represented the next-largest slice of energy sector federal subsidies after renewable power, according to the EIA report. End use sources received $64.8 billion in subsidies, equivalent of 35% of total energy-related subsidies doled out by the federal government. While renewable and end use sources accounted for more than 80% of total energy industry subsides, fossil fuel sources — namely natural gas, petroleum and oil, which account for more than 60% of electricity production and the vast majority of transportation energy — benefited from $24.5 billion, or 13%, in subsidies. Nuclear power, which produces another 18% of U.S. electricity, received $2.9 billion in subsidies during the analyzed timeframe, the equivalent of 2% of total subsidies awarded. For example, natural gas power generated 44.9 quadrillion British thermal units in 2022, 45% of total energy generated economywide, but received $2.3 billion in taxpayer subsidies that year. That means for every million British thermal units (MMBtu) produced by natural gas, the industry received about $0.05. By comparison, in 2022, the solar industry generated about 0.6 quadrillion British thermal units, less than 1% of total energy produced economywide in the U.S., but received $7.5 billion in subsidies. That means the solar power industry received $11.9 per MMBtu generated last year. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-admin-quietly-released-study-showing-green-energy-receives-far-more-subsidies-fossil-fuels

  6. Hunter Biden's $250K wire from China labeled as a 'personal investment' The wires' beneficiary address is listed as Joe Biden's Delaware home....The $250,000 wire Hunter Biden received from his Chinese business partners was labeled as a "personal investment," despite his legal team claiming the funds were part of a loan and previously saying he never "received any return on his investment," Fox News Digital has learned....Fox News Digital first reported Tuesday that Hunter Biden received wires that originated in Beijing totaling $260,000 from Chinese business partners during the summer of 2019 — wires that listed the Delaware home of Joe Biden as the beneficiary address for the funds..... ......The revelations come after Hunter Biden’s attorney Abbe Lowell told CNN that the wires were "a documented loan (not a distribution or pay-out) that was wired from a private individual to his new bank account which listed the address on his driver’s license, his parents’ address, because it was his only permanent address at the time."....The wires for the funds originated from Beijing and were linked to BHR Partners. BHR Partners is a joint-venture between Hunter Biden’s Rosemont Seneca and Chinese investment firm Bohai Capital. BHR Partners is a Beijing-backed private equity firm controlled by Bank of China Limited. Hunter Biden reportedly sat on the board of directors of BHR Partners.....The beneficiary for the wires is listed as Robert Hunter Biden with the address .....in Wilmington, Delaware. That address is the main residence for President Biden...... Back in October 2019, despite Hunter having received more than a quarter of a million dollars from BHR-linked associates, then-attorney for Hunter Biden, George Mesires, explained Hunter’s role at BHR Partners by saying he "served only as a member of the board of directors, which he joined based on his interest in seeking ways to bring Chinese capital to international markets." "It was an unpaid position," Mesires said on Oct. 13, 2019. "In October 2017, Hunter committed to invest approximately $420,000 USD (as of 10/12/2019) to acquire a 10% equity position in BHR, which he still holds." Mesires, at the time, added: "To date, Hunter has not received any compensation for being on BHR’s board of directors. He has not received any return on his investment; there have been no distributions to BHR shareholders since Hunter obtained his equity interest." "In 2020, Joe Biden told Americans that his family never received money from China. We’ve already proved that to be a lie earlier this year, and now we know that two wires originating from Beijing listed Joe Biden’s Wilmington home as the beneficiary address when he was running for president of the United States. When Joe Biden was vice president, he spoke on the phone and had coffee with Jonathan Li in Beijing and later wrote a college letter of recommendation for his children," Comer said....."Joe Biden’s abuse of public office for his family’s financial gain threatens our national security. What did the Bidens do with this money from Beijing? Americans demand and deserve accountability for President Biden and the first family’s corruption. The Oversight Committee, along with the Judiciary and Ways and Means committees, will continue to follow the evidence and money to provide transparency and accountability." https://www.foxnews.com/politics/hunter-bidens-250k-wire-from-china-labeled-as-a-personal-investment
  7. Neil deGrasse Tyson on UFO claims: ‘We would know about it’ Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson pushed back on claims that the government is hiding information about UFOs and aliens from the American public. “Do you think the government is that competent, that they can actually keep such a secret? Oh, my gosh, when did you get that much confidence in the U.S. government?” Tyson argued that with the availability of smartphones and cameras, more people besides the U.S. government would know if there was an “alien invasion.”....“Here’s what I’d rather think: that if we had an alien invasion, more than the US government would know about,” he said. “We would know about it. We, with cameras and smartphones, we are crowdsourcing an alien invasion of Earth because everybody has a camera, high-resolution camera.” https://thehill.com/homenews/space/4174905-neil-degrasse-tyson-on-ufo-claims-we-would-know-about-it/
  8. Lots of people in America are single issue voters. It's another factor that many on the activist radical left ignore. You can't keep insulting and demonizing up to half the country for exercising their free speech and political voice, just because "you" ( not you specifically, but clearly the radical left and establishment Democrats) don't like it. However Biden's handlers roll him out there, to say those toxic things, to smear up to half the country, to try to justify all the failures and corruption and clearly authoritarian leanings from Team Blue in this administration. They want Republicans and Conservatives to get lumped together into a "monolith" so it's easier to dehumanize us, thus justifying their endless attacks on us. The current Democratic Party clearly could not grasp the power of how information flows in this modern culture. You can try to suppress information with the activist complicit MSM, but there are just far too many pundits with large enough platforms to get real data out there.
  9. Biden loses ground with working-class Black, Latino voters One of the main reasons President Biden is struggling in polls against former President Trump is his glaring underperformance with a constituency that has long been overwhelmingly Democratic: non-white voters without a college degree....As Democrats have made major gains with suburban and upper-middle-class voters since Trump's political ascendance, they've been losing support among blue-collar voters. Pundits have focused heavily in recent years on white, working-class voters who changed their allegiances from former President Obama to Trump — and have made up a key part of the new GOP coalition. But Democrats have lost significant ground among their non-white counterparts as well, turning a political weakness into a major headache heading into 2024. The slippage is occurring even as Trump, the GOP's standard bearer, is facing an unprecedented trifecta of indictments in the run-up to the 2024 election. In the New York Times/Siena poll released last week, Biden failed to win majority support from non-white voters who hadn't graduated from college. His lead over Trump with this once-heavily Democratic constituency is just 16 points (49%–33%). In 2020, Biden dominated Trump with these voters, winning by an overwhelming 48-point margin, according to an analysis by the Democratic data firm Catalist. Obama won non-white working-class voters by a whopping 67-point margin in 2012. Between the lines: Many of these voters are moderates, not progressives — especially when it comes to the polarizing cultural issues that Republicans are increasingly focused on. Ruy Teixeira, an elections analyst at the American Enterprise Institute, flagged several key issues dragging down Democratic support with non-white working-class voters, based on recent polling.....Teixeira notes that the progressive worldview that racism is systemic in our society, rather than coming from individuals with racist views, is broadly unpopular among the non-white working class. He adds that debates over transgender rights also divide Democrats along class and educational lines. Crime is another major factor: Working-class non-white voters feel the impact of crime in their communities most directly and favor more punitive policies than their left-wing counterparts. Non-white working-class voters are not satisfied with the state of the economy....Opposition to Biden's environmental agenda — the view that Democrats are pushing the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy too quickly — is a consistent theme with working-class voters of all backgrounds. https://www.axios.com/2023/08/06/biden-trump-nonwhite-working-class-voters-2024
  10. Bad Biden polls stoke third-party angst for Democrats New polls showing President Biden tied or trailing several GOP presidential candidates and deep concerns among voters over his age are stoking Democratic angst about third-party candidates “stealing” a victory in November 2024...Democrats have long been worried that in a close race, a third-party candidate could be the difference between winning and defeat in hard-fought states such as Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin or even Florida. But the new polling is exacerbating unease that liberal candidate Cornel West or a centrist contender backed by No Labels could end up being spoilers for Biden. Groups on the left are among those expressing discontentment, arguing that the only candidates who will have a chance to actually win the White House are Biden and the eventual Republican nominee.....According to the survey, a whopping 67 percent of voters who identify as Democrats or lean left said that they’d prefer someone else as the nominee. At the same time, just as many voters believe Biden will ultimately nab the nomination, creating a difficult position for those helping to prop up an unpopular candidate. Another data point also signals a potential issue: Biden is in close contention not only with former President Trump but with lesser-known candidates like former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who led him by several points. Other polls separately show deep dissatisfaction over Biden’s age, with the majority of voters in recent Wall Street Journal and Associated Press/NORC surveys saying he’s too old to seek a second term in office.....“The CNN poll reinforces a truth we have known for a long time now at No Labels: most Americans do not want a rematch of the 2020 election,” Clancy told The Hill in a statement. “There’s growing enthusiasm for another choice who can bridge the partisan divide that is tearing our country apart.” https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4194581-bad-biden-polls-stoke-third-party-angst-for-democrats/
  11. The Friendship Recession .....Richard Reeves, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, discusses the importance of friendships and the potential “friendship recession.” He notes that loneliness can be as harmful as smoking 15 cigarettes per day, but measuring and quantifying friendships is difficult. According to Reeves, an ideal number of close friends is around three or four.....But alarmingly, 15% of young men today report having no close friends, compared to 3% in the 1990s. The COVID pandemic has further tested friendship networks, with women being the most affected due to their friendships’ reliance on physical contact. Other factors likely have contributed to the decline in friendships in the 21st-century U.S., including geographical mobility, parenting demands, workism, and relationship breakdowns..... ....Reeves emphasizes the importance of acknowledging and nurturing friendships as they don’t form spontaneously. Admitting the desire for friends requires vulnerability and openness, which may be difficult for some individuals...Over the past three decades, the number of close friends Americans have has plummeted....This friendship recession is particularly bad for men. The percentage of men with at least six close friends fell by half since 1990, from 55 percent to 27 percent. The study also found the percentage of men without any close friends jumped from 3 percent to 15 percent, a fivefold increase....Single men fare the worst. One in five American men who are unmarried and not in a romantic relationship report not having any close friends..... .....The bad news doesn’t end there. Not only do men have smaller friendship circles, they report being less emotionally connected to the friends they do have. Both men and women benefit from developing strong emotional bonds with their friends.....The study finds that women report far higher rates of emotional engagement with and support from their friends. This type of intimacy matters. Americans who receive regular emotional support from their friends are far less likely to report feeling anxious or alone than those who do not, and this is true independent of how many friends they have.....There are structural factors at work as well....we found that higher rates of loneliness among Millennials was due primarily to lower religious involvement, lower marriage rates, and greater geographic mobility. Once accounting for these factors, Millennials were not lonelier than Baby Boomers. If men are marrying later than women on average and are less connected to religious communities, it may further exacerbate the friendship gap..... ....A final explanation may be found in changes in the workplace. The most common place Americans develop close friendship is on the job. Most men and women say they formed a close friendship at work. But as Americans work longer hours, switch jobs more often, and increasingly avoid coming to the office at all, developing workplace friendships may prove more difficult.....One of the most important things that friendships require is time. In adolescence, Americans prioritize their friendships in a way they do not at any other point in their life. At age 18, we are spending more than two hours a day, on average, with our friends, but this drops precipitously over the ensuing decade. By the time we reach middle age, Americans are devoting only about 30 minutes a day to maintaining their friendships. This is simply not enough. We should rededicate time to fostering friendships, at work, in our neighborhoods, and even online. Few investments provide such an immediate and enduring reward while entailing so little risk.... https://bigthink.com/series/explain-it-like-im-smart/friendship-recession/ https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/07/american-men-suffer-a-friendship-recession/
