Disney attendance plunges to all-time low for 2025 as visitors report 'ghost towns' at parks
FrancieFootball replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
We took the kids to Orlando in late August, and it was great. The weather was unexpectedly pleasant. We went to EPCOT, Animal Kingdom and the new Universal Studios. The highlights included the Guardians of the Galaxy ride at EPCOT, Stardust Racers at Universal and Avatar and Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom. Guardians of the Galaxy is an indoor coaster mostly in the dark, and it was like being in an out-of-control spaceship. Super cool. We rode Stardust Racers twice, and let me tell you that thing is awesome, probably my favorite coaster ever. My company rented out Animal Kingdom for the night, so there were no lines. Avatar is amazing, and Expedition Everest at night is awesome. The only letdown was the new Harry Potter ride at the new Universal. We waited in line a looooooonnnnngggg time. The ride shut down for a spell, and at that point we had invested like 90 minutes. We made the huge mistake of doing the single-rider line, which actually took longer because they were letting huge groups go through and just mixing in the single riders here and there. The payoff wasn't all that great. The Harry Potter ride at the other Universal is better, with less wait. It's the best time of year to go because schools are back in session. We home school, so that's an advantage for us. -
Indigo Girls. Fantastic show.

I haven't read this whole thread, but I do recall Trump in the past blaming the president for a federal government shutdown. Thanks for the kind words about the farm. We're used to getting huge checks by year's end, and this year we're getting nothing.

We have a soybean farm in the family, so this has gotten personal. I hope we get back to a reasonable, common-sense government with bipartisan compromise without all the demonization, finger pointing and despicable hate behavior. We are better than this.

Pete Hegseth And Trump Address Top Military Leaders
FrancieFootball replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
This was yet another embarrassment today, and I don't believe the president has the power he thinks he has to fire generals. You could see the solidarity in the room. The military answers to the Constitution, not one man. Them standing there in silence was powerful, and the idea of training our recruits in cities is nothing less than insane. What happened to the federal government staying out of states and municipalities? Every move that Trump makes is yet another step toward authoritarianism and dictatorship. My partner and I have passports for ourselves and children and have countries we are considering moving to if this countries gets within inches of the point of no return. This whole "war from within" is frightening rhetoric from a self-serving madman intoxicated with power, the ultimate fuel for a malignant narcissist. Our church is praying hard for a decisive reversal in the direction this country is heading. -
I've lived in Portland, have many friends there and visit often. I'd like to see some photos of the war-ravaged parts and get some information on who is doing the ravaging. Thanks.

Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin Tyler Robinson lived with transgender partner
FrancieFootball replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
It is not asking too much, and my spouse and I don't care for the movement as well. We just want to live our lives and not be out there pushing an agenda. We don't take part in Pride parades. We don't want to read to kids in libraries, schools or elsewhere, and we will not be taking our kids to any such event. We go to work. We raise the kids. We do things as a family. I will acknowledge that mental illness runs rampant in the LGBTQ community, but being a trans woman in an of itself is not mental illness, and the ones who do suffer mental illness and do terrible things give the rest of us a bad name and stir up hatred. If someone identifies as a gender other than the one assigned at birth, there should be laws in place blocking any transitioning until the person turns 21. All I can do is be myself, be a good person and live my life. -
Seeing as our population is around 304 million, it very much is illogical to thing that many died of drugs.

Transgenders, for the most part, are beautiful. The hate for us thanks to a very few bad apples is sad. Love will win. Always has. Always will. Love you guys. -

No. 1 is something with which I will agree. However, you're No. 1 comment regarding them being victims of violence and persecution most certainly results in an above-normal percentage of transgenders experiencing mental illness. When one with gender dysphoria hears nothing but hate growing up, it's not surprising that they as adults will experience mental illness. Imagine growing up knowing who you are and hearing all the hate. I chose to follow the light of mental health and make myself stronger. -

From what I have read, and I very well could be wrong, but this transgender roommate reported Robinson to police, which would make her a hero. I hope and pray for those who demonize transgenders, hoping they will be more open-minded and curious about us and not condemn the entire community for the actions of a few. My partner and I attend a church where we are accepted and view Jesus as someone who accepts us. As much as I disagree with so much of what Charlie Kirk railed about, to see what happened to him, his family and those who absorbed his words is sickening and underscores how love absolutely needs to win over hate. Otherwise, we will just spiral into a barbaric society of divisiveness and hate. Love you guys, flaws and all. We need to agree to disagree and just let love win. -

Trans people are more depressed, suicidal after sex change surgeries: study 🌈

If your child was trans, the adult version would be a basket case thanks to your mindset. Regardless, your child should be ashamed of you. You're inhuman. -

When as children they grow up subjected to jackass mindsets such as yours, it's no wonder so many of us suffer mental illnesses. I'm blessed that I witnessed very little of that and that my mental health is sound, but you should develop some education, maturity and empathy on this sibject matter instead of engaging in childish thread diarrhea and secretly scrolling Grindr for trans hookups. -

I'm starting to see trans obsession as a mental illness.

Supreme Court rules that Trump cannot stop foreign aid

They probably blindly and unquestionly believe all the misinformation that came of Trump's mouth last night. It never ceases to amaze me how little they think for themselves and exercise basic common sense and intelligence. -
