Sure there maybe similarities between Polamalu and Ernie Sims, but come on. The Lions' history has proven than nine times out of 10 they make the wrong decision, and this Ernie Sims pick may be no different.

I told you about a month ago that I will attempt to table all spats with you about your beloved team until November. By then it should be evident that this team is still not where they should be; not because of coaching, because I'm impressed with what they brought it, but because of an obvious lack of talent on both sides of the ball. We'll see.

It's one thing to lose consistently for five decades; it's another to be completely inept at what you do. The Lions have shown nothing but incompetence since Ford Sr. took sole ownership. I applaud those fans who tolerate cheering for losing teams; I, for one, wouln't -- and haven't -- put up with it.

Swamp puppy, your love of the Lions is admirable, but I must say, as a reformed Lions fan myself, it sounds like the past missteps of this organization hasn't swayed your enthusiasm for this team. I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm old enough to remember the days of Russ Thomas calling the shots and all the questionable moves they made then, and quite frankly, continue to make today. This team hasn't won IN 50 YEARS!!! FIFTY YEARS!!! It comes a time when fans (like myself) simply have to throw in the towel and say to hell with this organization. So if waving your honolulu blue and silver pom-poms in the air makes you feel better go right ahead; just be prepared for the inevitable backlash from cats like sweetness and DrJ and others. :popcorninhand:

Everytime I see his name in print or see his face on television, it reminds me how idiotic a hiring he was. Ford Sr., while loyal, is perhaps the worst forward-thinker in the league. Hiring a broadcaster to run your organization with no prior experience? Makes all the sense in the world to me. The worst five-year record in team history? Let's reward him with a five-year extension. Pitiful, pitiful, pitiful.

Sims? This guy has had, what, five concussions during his college career? To me, that would be more of a concern than if he were coming off an ankle or knee injury. At least time can heal those wounds; having a few marbles rolling around upstairs, however, is another story altogether. It's the Lions, though; it shouldn't make sense.

Essentially, the Texans chose a potentially dominant defensive player over a potentially dominant offensive player. I don't see a real problem with that. Kudos to them for having the clock weights to go against conventional thinking. The Saints are now sitting in the catbird's seat, though

There were numerous KC games I watched this year that I needed the defense to make a stop so LJ could get back on the field and do his thing. But each time the defense faltered and the KC offense rotted on the sideline. That defense is bad and has been for the better part of five years. They couldn't be so dumb as to choose a WR or O-lineman, could they?

The only reason I wouldn't put him there now is the Cedric Benson factor. Although Lovie Smith seems to back T. Jones, I'd imagine he'd get pressure from on-high to play the #4 overall-drafted player, which would adversely affect Jones' production. Putting him in an Indy uni will not automatically mean he will produce like Edge, which is why I put him in the 2nd tier of backs. just one man's opinion

I'd rank him somewhere in the middle of the 2nd tier of RBs, along with the likes of the Kevin Jones, Warrick Dunns, and Brian Westbrooks of the world.

It's amazing how many atheletes are diagnosed with this condition after the injury. Makes you wonder how many are currently playing with it.

I felt the same way about Chad Johnson after Carson Palmer was named the starter in '04. Although Palmer's numbers were very pedestrian, Chad still produced for me as my #1 WR. Bottom line: don't let the inexperience of a QB affect your judgement of a bonafide WR (or TE) stud. A player the caliber of McCardell may struggle for instance, but I don't see any reason why Gates shouldn't be drafted where he would've had Brees stayed.
