Going back years now we have observed that the AG role has become a rather challenging role, often becoming the friction point. To my recollection the role was mostly out of the news until we had Eric Holder, at with him the role appears to "evolve" and become more political. Which continued through the next administations. Depending on your political bias you will therefore either love the AG or hate him. I hope to avoid that place and instead judge them on their merits and how they appear to lead in their role. I surmise that Garland is a competent and accomplished individual, or he would not be in the role nor lasted this long. That being said, he appears to be allowing himself and his role to be the weapon of the Democrat Party, which is not comforting. AG Garland expected to clash with House Republicans over claims of DOJ politicization I am satisfied that he seems to understand what the role should be, but I do not think he is living up to his announced standards in practice.
