This is a great question. I imagine Hunter was a key component of the negotiations with Joe to back out. But Hunter likely has dirt on more than just Joe.....without Joe in power, he likely demanded that Hunter not be "taken out". If I were Hunter, I would have a plan to become invisible when Joe passes, because any protections negotiated, likely end with Joe.....
