LIBERATION DAY: USA and China agree to a 90 day pause on most new tariffs
RLLD replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
In short the tariffs is part of a broader strategy of economic protections for domestic industries that will result in job growth and with it improving just about everything in society. The long road of disintegrating domestic social status is linked directly to the shedding of jobs elsewhere. Correcting Trade Imbalances which harm the access to good paying jobs for our people, reviving manufacturing which is a security issue, standing up to the corruption and cheating of China....which no longer needs to behave like that, -

Well, the argument "here" was that they would cause inflation.....and clearly the economists who predicted it were wrong, as outlined by those reporting it. But the entire topic isbeing wayyyyy overblown for dramatic effect -

But they did.....and CNN only used them for their reporting, so now....one again....they look foolish because they only reported one side. -

Agree, while it would be wonderful to fix problems without pain the notion of doing so is rarely feasible. But right now I find most of the machinations to be really solid in terms of strategy, so I hope for the best of course. I ight also suggest that the timeline to see impacts is rather aggressive and it would be unusual to see any impact from tariffs that quickly, moreover, any change in actual meaningful inflationary influences would hide it. -

Which.....is what I have been asserting all along....and yet.....media seems surprised.....Wolf Blitzer himself noted that economists predicted a problem would be evident, which is over course just focking stupid to assert. -

They are not, and in a rare instance of honesty one actually states a truth..... "A clear read on the inflation trend won’t be visible for several months yet," -

Actually most of them are But I might suggest that there will typically be two camps, who disagree. Now as I have been stating all along, tariffs have a tiny footprint in terms of prices to the consumer and it can take months for it to manifest, so no big surprise really that they are not "seeing it" -

You do realize.....the economists are now saying that tariffs are having no impact, right? And you also further realize that in saying this, they demonstrate a total lack of comprehension about how tariffs and the economy actually work? Right? -

I might suggest we wait on any victory dance. 1) Government always lies, ALWAYS, never ....ever,,,,,ever..... trust anything pronounced by government 2) When we see economists surprised that tariffs had to no impact is is demonstrative of their lack of credibility or ability......tariffs would NEVER show this fast if they had an impact......it can take months....and sometimes years....for tariffs to have ANY impacts. 3) ANY impact by tariffs would be easily offset by a number of other areas of the economy, there are many things that would negate any tariff-driven impacts, if housing goes up or down......we wont even see the impacts of tariffs one way or another. ALL the talk about tariffs is just angry people hoping we lose. -
Now that Americans understand what Trump meant by mass deportation, they don’t like it.

I find the approach entirely suitable, I have to wonder what the plan is after they manage to get rid of the Biden Criminal Empire though. If this all unfolds the way it appears it will, the economy will be booming, foreign relations will be soaring, crime will drop and good people will have a better life, which bodes well for the midterm election. So long as we can prevent Democrats from having any power the people of this nation can live good lives, criminals wont, and liberals can cry for the worst of us all they want.....as long as we can be protected from them and their criminal allies -
Anyone following the ICE facility intrusion by Dems?

If you are a criminal, you absolutely love Democrats, they are enablers. -
DEI Judge Hannah Dugan arrested by FBI for allegedly helping undocumented immigrant 'evade arrest

If we are being honest we know that this judge defied the law to serve her personal interests, and she was caught, so now we test the liberal "no one is above the law" propoganda -

The opportunity to control the situation was forsaken by weak politicians for decades. Rather than face down the problem they punted it for someone else to worry about. Well, now we have someone who will fix it. So rather than continue the policies that are clearly not working, he will stand up to the globalists who have only served their own greed. -

Maybe. One day I hear he is a complete liar, and then he says something that can be weaponized and suddenly he is telling the truth. So, to a certain extent I think the media portrays him as a liar when it suits them. I also think he does not always say "exactly" what he intends to do, and often will say things just to get the media frothing. -

RLLD replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
A fair point. I get the transparency concern, and I have some apprehension as well. But, consider that any move he makes is met with a rather enthusiastic opposing effort.....that perhaps sometimes goes a bit too far. I think there is "good" opposition to motivate your opponent to soften their approach, or at least make it a little more good for more people. At least half the country is out there wanting to see some liberal things happen, and we cannot ignore them or their needs.......so yeah, pushback that harkens to that seems fine.....but often I see opposition purely for the sake of opposition. So in part I understand why there might be some holding back, to strategically prevent legal abuse to impede etc..... -

I do not think there is any problem with opposing the tariffs, and in fact I think the opposition overall is helpful. I do not think decisions which go unchallenged are all that great, and all this effort to oppose Trump is making sure the work is being done to make better decisions. So in a sense, I am grateful for people such as yourself. We get better outcomes because of you. -

Gaza is a mess, and the people are suffering. That is all I really want to say about that. On the bright side, the average person I encountered hates Hamas, not all, but most do. They are not stupid people, they know what Hamas did and why this is all happening. There is a coming together of important regimes in the area, notably Egypt who want to invest in the future of Gaza. But as with anything, its complicated, and there are some from the outside who are actively complicating it as well. The last thing some of the players want is peace, they see it as capitulation. -

If you feel that we are not getting the right amount of scrutiny I am good with that. Right now the only thing being done for the most part is scrutiny, so the more the better. I am rather glad to see the media suddenly find the heart to criticize a President. -

So far we have not had to make any sacrifices, gratefully, but I do not presume that we can fix the considerable mistakes which brought us here without some impacts. If those folks who sacrificed so much in WWII could do it, I further presume we can deal with the far less impacts of fixing our economic factors. So lets let Trump cook, he is making decisions that people only every talked about in the past, but lacked the fortitude to actually do. Ending the bad economic deals, and eventually balancing the budget (as Clinton did) I think is a path I can get behind. -

So you missed the pointe entirely. I hope you can improve your approach to thoughtful dialogue. I have been in Syria, Israel and Gaza for a couple months helping facilitate what will be the coalition that will eventually rebuild Gaza, so I have been out of the loop for a bit. -

We are not in WWII, their struggle was worse, but they did struggle, and maybe we have some struggles today as well. If they could survive that, I feel we can withstand this to get past teh failures which brought us here and to establish a brighter future. I leave it to you to oppose, and I think that is good, this is what we needed for the last four years but did not have. At least when a Republican is in power we know we are getting the kind of scrutiny that helps make better choices. -
