Supreme Court rules President is immune for “official acts”
RLLD replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
I get it, I also have the experience of watching this game be played..... -
It should be interesting to be sure. Does Joe stay the course, to hand off to Harris? That is a scary thought.... Do they find a way to replace him? But I think they have to do it by what, August 15th? When the Ohio election committee demands a candidate be announced?

I investigate what people are saying, attempt to hold a discussion, and sometimes arrive at a conclusion to be sure....but since I do not have the luxury of doing it elsewhere, I will restrain....particularly when it arises that MSM is pronouncing intent; given their clear bias and propensity for being wrong. So yeah, I see the consistent malignment of Trump statements, so here we are again.....just another attempt to apply intent....mostly to denigrate the guy, which I sorta understand. -

Oh I will pass on that, I am reticent to ascribe intent to people.... particularly negative intent. That is how we end up with CNN paying Sandman, or CNN having to admit the "very fine people" hoax. In fact, it happens here rather consistently. Someone posts something, then someone strides in and makes some cartoonish comment in return, based on their assessment of intent, and is often wrong about that intent. I think it might come with age and experience, to be more inquisitive and less apt toward application of intent all the time. I think your hate for Trump is coloring your decision-making paradigm. Years in the military solved that flaw for me. -

Sure, I understand that people consistently apply intent and context to situations around Trump, and those are consistently proven wrong....so by all means, take his statements as you see fit. I think its fine. Not going to suggest you should only see things my way. -

I get that. often we perceive things and that becomes our reality, happens to me as well on occasion. The important thing is that you really believe it......so run with that. -

Trump is a buffoon, always saying things that people love to interpret in a negative way, because they simply dislike him....hence the "very fine people" nonsense etc. He usually says something that could be interpreted negatively, and if you dislike him you perhaps will interpret in that manner. I also dislike him as a person, but rather than be lazy about it, I stick to the issue that he is a doosh....but that does not matter. -

I get it, I really do, you think he was trying to somehow "steal" the election, again...all good, I leave that to you....I do not concur. Now, back to Smith, he rushed and that impacted his success, but he had to rush because the goal was to affect the election. I doubt he gives up on that pursuit, he just needs to regroup, maybe find something else to throw in the mix, see if it sticks. -

Your suggestion as to what Trump did is your perception, and if that is how you feel about it, all good....does not mean that I have to concur with you. I think Smith could have perhaps had a more productive route, had he considered prosecuting the others....but I think not doing so hurts him. He had to rush, because his intent is to affect the election. Had he not rushed I suspect the SCOTUS may have perhaps ruled differently. -

I am not sure if anyone wanted to use the legal system to take down Obama, that tactic is relatively recent in use. But I do recall some legal minds discussing it, but as I recall it was just sort of left alone. Not much came of it. But if they were to dilute immunity, perhaps they could go after him? Not sure about that. -
They can do whatever they want, we have seen Joe Biden.....it is clear to anyone how bad he has gotten.....he is not likely to fare any better in another round.....
-
I hope they try to make a bunch of rules for that one too. They again try to make the situation less palatable in the hope that Trump will shy away.....and then I hope Trumps gives them the finger and says "lets gooooooo"

You should really know about this It is not new, and when it transpired it was hotly debated at that time. -
Essentially, yes. All the sudden people seem to care about politicians lying, like its new. And none of these people give a rats ass about the lying around inflation, Russian Collusion or the laptop....they just suck that sh!t down.....

I suspect that Smith is "all in" on this. He would love to be the one to somehow take Trump down. I surmise he will double his efforts, and if he has to come up with something entirely new will do so. The race to get Trump will certainly continue, plenty of time to make up something else to use. -
There is a historical reason for this......

If we are being honest, we knew this was the deal. And when they repeated the maneuver recently, of course....same strategy....find credentialed people willing to lie to hide the truth and enhance their pursuit of power. -

That is how the process was intended. It allowed for moderation in the selection of judges, which Reid refused....so....sure....setup the situation to get what you wanted that day.....and fock over the women today.....great job. -

These recent acts are new. All good. But if it were me, I might reach out to my elected officials and urge restraint.
