A Florida law blocking treatment for transgender children is thrown out by a federal judge
RLLD replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
We can agree to disagree on their motivations. If Republicans were doing it, it would still be a grab for power though.... -
Earlier I called out your inclusion of it among actual factors as if it were equal and then I noted the Fed's pronouncement, now if you want to piddle over whether it can be an factor or not, you do you....I stand by my assertion that your post was misleading. And it absolutely is not third.....but if that is what you want to believe, have at it of course, just understand I might not let that misrepresentation slide by

It's political because Democrats latched on to this as a tool for securing power, and people rightly objected to it because of how sinister it is. Objecting is not obsession. It might be convenient to paint those who oppose what you think in that way so as to silence them, but in practice we should avoid such things -
Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)
RLLD replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
That is a more difficult sell. If you instead were to suggest the abortion stance, that might be more suitable. If the public is waking up to something it would be how less satisfied they are today vs under Trump. The lawfare tactic has been clearly delineated, its a thing and it is happening. The target being independent/undecided voters....which is the area where both sides can harvest votes since their edges are more or less devotees -

Fair enough -

It's a fascinating stat, I have to wonder if this can be traced to the lawfare and what Democrats hoped to secure from it. If true then I likely have underestimated the efficacy of the tactic. -
I concur with the Fed analysis, that is not a factor of import....if you want to mince words......so I do not bother to include it....since its not a "factor" for me..... If YOU however choose to see it as such, that is fine, me noting its inclusion and then pointing to the Fed;s conclusion ....and suggesting it not be included in the suggestion as you posted really seems to have set you off.... So....I propose this.... I have a position, and my position is that while it is a "factor" in a long list of factors calling it out next to significant factors as you did misrepresents its import.....but....if you want to mince words, I am less inclined today...so lets try this....what is it you want people to know about it....like....you have done a serviceable job of just sort of sitting off to the side....and snarkily harumpfing at others trying to convey their point of view....but perhaps you have a point of view that would help us better understand?

Yes, they have.....but if you want to mutilate children, that is up to you I guess -
I am gratified he did so, sound economic policy is not something Biden has done with abundance, that he retained these elements is something I will praise him for. Inflation is a tax, but not a direct one. We might diverge on the definition of tax, but seigniorage is actually taxation....
-
Agree. I think you and I likely agree more on this topic than we disagree. I think there are elements of seigniorage that can be good and bad. And the debate about it being a form of tax is well tread.... Tariffs are sometimes needed, I think it notable that Biden retained them while he reversed so many other Trump policies...
-
Inflation is a tax.....and I think you know it.... its taxation by other means. Tariffs are usually more targeted, but I will wait to see what actual policy is pursued.....it is unwise to accept politicians statements without scrutiny of course.

Convicted of a felony, but sentencing isn't for months? Our justice system is retarded

Hey.....be grateful that these legal eagles actually prosecuted someone....even if only for political purposes....by god, they actually tried to hold someone accountable.... -
Perfect! Thank you.

It might help if you posted a link to that conversation, notably your initial post on the topic.

I infer that we are all shocked.....just shocked....that the truth is coming out.....
-
Lie..... but thats ok,
-
Correct....which is all I have said, pretending its "the thing" is something we have seen Biden do....it is part of a multi-variate composite. Is it worth pursuing, no....its not.....instead we need to focus on monetary policy.....
-
Of course it is a tax.....so is inflation....but there is a distinction, which is why I did not complain about Biden leaving those tariffs in place, since unlike inflation they target a market for protection, and allow consumers to make choices. Now...if you want to debate the implementation, instead of this false equivalence. Maybe we juxtapose elements of its strategic use over time....talk about the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, The Reciprocal Trade Agreements Act, The Trade Act of 1974...... I mean, its fine and dandy that you suddenly have this awakening to something we have been doing since 1789.... and care about people paying more for things.... But....if you feel that strongly about it.....great....asking Biden to change his policy
-
So then, you concede that government policy that raises prices is a tax......right?

Meanwhile, the rest of the developed world has already turned away from this nonsensical mutilation of children....but here we are.....doing it anyway -
Except its not, because you have alternatives to tariffed goods, good lord people, have NONE of you taken a single course in economics? I mean, is this really what people think??
-
https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/15/business/inflation-biden-rate-fed/index.html correct, even CNN won’t lie about it
-
Inflation caused prices to rise, that is the government’s fault. They should know better. Markets behave predictably, this was what many called out when they were foolishly mismanaging

Are we now to accept that Joe Biden can buy all he wants…..but Trump should not?
