  1. Business declare bankruptcy every day, for a variety of reasons. That does not mean inane policies should be employed.
  2. We are not all equally armed with talent, that does not mean we have to be poor. We may not achieve the same level of success as others, but we do not need to be poor. When people make good decisions they can avoid poverty....maybe then never reach "wealthy" but they can avoid poverty. I provide sources that actually support my position, where you have none. I get it that you really think the world is unfair, business are exploitive and such....but that is not true.
  3. Incorrect. Their maneuver is standard practice when you face such a problem. The government is the problem, if they stay out of it the market will ensure a better outcome.
  4. Incorrect. I do not possess the gifts required to reach those levels. Not everyone does, and that is just fine.
  5. Incorrect. The government influenced the market, causing labor costs to rise.....the business has to react to this influence and will reduce their labor footprint, raise prices and likely even lower their portions....so what the government is then doing is harming a swath of people to help a small set who have made poor life decisions....not mention diluting their own tax revenue
  6. We are not all equally allotted in terms of availability. I will never be an NBA point guard, nor a physicist. Some will....and its not unfair, they just have more gifts than I do....there is nothing "unfair" in that. Now....I get that this concept is not resonating for you......but in this nation, you have the ability to rise out of your station into higher station, if you make good choices. Inflation existed before Trump, and will exist after him, what is rare is the stupidity of someone like Biden to inflame it with poor decisions. You seem to lack the cognitive ability to speak forthrightly about these concepts.
  7. If costs rise reducing labor is a natural and accepted hedge against those rising costs.....along with other tools. The government does not seem to understand this. Hence their reckless intrusion into the markets on occasion. It is comical for folks to pretend its the businesses being mean, when it is just the market behaving as it should.
  8. Agree. Who your parents are, and what decisions they made are also a big influence.... But we have evidence to understand that there are simple things, and those things are your decisions. The Brookings Institute is a left-leaning org that explained this rather well, noting that their analysis of Census Bureau data, is that young people can virtually assure that they and their families will avoid poverty if they follow three elementary rules for success – complete at least a high school education, work full time, and wait until age 21 and get complete at least a high school education, work full time, and wait until age 21 and getmarried before having a baby.... So we have documented evidence from a reliable source that it is in fact decisions......and then we can get past the simple stuff and more into the weeds of the minutia
  9. You seem to follow the MDC path of refusing to post what you actually mean, just coming in from the sidelines with nothing much of value. I stand by both of those posts, they are not mutually exclusive.
  10. Perhaps...but as Tim has done with reducing the argument to some over simplified example, I am also empowered then to do the same. right? If we were to consider a "solution" we would start with this approach...making better decisions would have the most immediate and palpable positive impact. Past that initial solution we can get more into other aspects, and there absolutely are other aspects.
  11. So then....you want to pluck up some example of actual privilege as a "proof". Its a tactic, I grant you that. I am wondering if you understand which logical fallacy you are using....instead of discussing the idea.
  12. I did not realize that I suggested the poor did nothing to deserve being poor. If that was actually stated somewhere then I was speaking in error. If you find yourself poor in this nation then you have made bad choices. This is not rocket science. You can ignore this fact, but it will remain. This is a major failure of the liberal mind.....pretending we are all equally allotted in terms of ability, and of the system were just more fair everyone would have equity....which is galactically stupid, not to mention abhorrent.... Its time to grow up and set aside this childish notions of how the world works
  13. Yikes..... Hunter is a sad sack man.... I really think he was his fathers useful idiot....a bagman that absolutely made some really bad choices in his life, but happened to also be useful to a guy in his father who was able to take advantage of the fact that his son is a garbage human, to make use of him.... there is no reason to hate on Hunter, the dood is just a victim of his own father...
  14. Inflation.....you mean the Biden tax on the poor? Oh yeah, that is nasty....they did nothing to deserve that, and sadly they likely will not learn from it....and will vote Democrat again. Now, back to the topic, people were "poor" before inflation was thrust upon them, why might that be the case? Hmmmm....is it just simply that they were unlucky? Or....could it be that they made poor choices? I mean, some of them rise out of poverty right? Annnnnddd....enter the NFL? And how is it that THOSE folks sometimes end up back in poverty? Just unlucky?
  15. Correct. People who do not meet with success in this design typically make bad decisions. Its not like those who can make it well in this world are just "lucky". People who strive get results. Pretending its just that the world is not fair is part of the reason the issue increases. When you remove accountability in this way you pave the way for bad outcomes. Were it not true that there are an abundance of people out there who bust their arse every day and achieve success your point might have more merit....but the examples of how to leverage this construct are all around us.
  16. The reality of people making poor life decisions can result in more people over the age of 25 being in those jobs. That does not mean we then bulk up job compensation for them. Part of the reason they find themselves in those jobs is the very solution being afforded them, more money for no reason. Those who make better choices enjoy better lives and outcomes, its a great solution to inspire people to achieve.
  17. You may be correct in your assessment, that this service provider was not the best. But pretending it was not the rising costs, of labor, in California is simply pretending away the destructive influence of government mandating the market. As these stores, and others, close, they reduce the available jobs and also the tax base. These jobs were never designed to be paid at this level, they are not careers, they are intended for young kids to make some extra money and then gain work experience they can leverage to get that next-better job. This is all just thoughtless pandering to make the public think they care without any thought for the wider and longer term consequences. Later, after enough people have been harmed they will likely make some adjustment and do that standard Democrat "oops, I guess we were wrong...."

Biden to announce drastic border action on Tuesday

Culture isn't just a question of affiliation; it's also a question of choice. It's also a question of group membership. And it's usually associated with a geographic region. It's also often confused or conflated with nationality, but that's not the same thing. Today people identify with ethnicity positively because they see themselves as being part of that group. People can't just simply say, "Well, I want to become a member of that race." You either are or are not a member of that race. Whereas, if you wanted to look at ethnicity based on culture, you could learn a language, you can learn customs - there are things that you can learn so that you could belong to that group. I think the most powerful argument about the differentiation between race and culture is that race becomes institutionalized in a way that has profound social consequences on the members of different groups.

While race and ethnicity share an ideology of common ancestry, they differ in important ways. First of all, race is primarily unitary. You can only have one race, while you can claim multiple ethnic affiliations. You can identify ethnically as Irish and Polish, but you have to be essentially either black or white. The fundamental difference is that race is socially imposed and hierarchical. There is an inequality built into the system. Furthermore, you have no control over your race; it's how you're perceived by others. For example, I have a friend who was born in Korea to Korean parents, but as an infant, she was adopted by an Italian family in Italy. Ethnically, she feels Italian: she eats Italian food, she speaks Italian, she knows Italian history and culture. She knows nothing about Korean history and culture. But when she comes to the United States, she's treated racially as Asian.

It was fine when Obama implemented that approach, but we have to pretend it was bad when Trump continued it.....

I doubt it....and I doubt that Biden cares one way or another. He will do only that which might tend to deliver power to him or his party, outcomes for us are not relevant for people like him

To be fair....Obama did that....not Biden.....
