Panera, if they can get people to work there for less, will be left with what no one else wants.... and high turnover with a less-motivated staff. It's demonstrably stupid for him to do this.

Of course it is entirely corrupt....but....I submit that it is also a perfect demonstration of how stupid politicians are in terms of action and outcome.... The assumption here on the part of Newsome is that he is helping his friend avoid the consequences of doing this, he is helping the business of Panera by protecting them from the inane policy.....which is also an admission that he knows the policy is bad.... BUT......what is missing from the calculation is the employee's......if every other business is paying $20/hr for a skillless job.....what happens to Panera in terms of hiring if they do not match it....

The governor tried to explain it to the public as “part of the sausage making” on the bill, i.e., just the necessary give-and-take of politics in a democracy. I wonder, would he describe this the same if it were Trump doing it.....would any liberal describe it the same, and just give Trump a pass? Is it too much to ask that politicians....any of them....but more pointedly Democrats (since they pretend to be some virtuous moral group) ......... its it too much to ask that they at a minimum live up to the expectations they are applying to others? Could we settle on a standard.....where a politician pretending someone else is bad, at least lives up to the level they have set for others?

I am not sure the handing out of money fixes anything given the track record. But, if it were to be true that handing out this money means no more whining....no complaining....no more pretending the world is just too hard.....then yeah, lets do it....

Maybe the Republicans should expand the court right now, add some more conservative justices, just to be sure they get their way, eh?

Liberals think in terms of utopia, and anything that might affirm such drivel is something they will readily consume.....so that is what the leftists in power feed them..... I would hope that conservatives think a little more, but there is sufficient evidence to suggest that at least on the fringes they are more or less the same. Correct. The media is absolutely biased to an extreme degree, and Fox is included in that. We need to demand better from the media. But we need at least some information as well. Its a problem.....

The problem here is that this entire pursuit is intended to eliminate Trump as a political opponent, and handing it over to someone else likely creates the kind of delay that inhibits that effort. And that is assuming there is another corrupt blowhard with political aspirations that wants to use this case as a spring board for self-enrichment....which could be the case. This isn't their only tool in the box, and if this gets shut down certainly we should expect some other DA to be asked to wage lawfare.....its about throwing as much as possible and just hoping that something sticks.

"Root causes" is a lie....its just a way to say you are doing something when you really have no intention of doing anything.
