Are There Any Comedians That are Funny Anymore ? (Stand Up)
Fumbleweed replied to BeenHereBefore's topic in The Geek Club
Bargatze is funny is sort of a Steven Wright sort of way. Not that his monatone is as pronounced as Wright by any means or his content as bizarre, but he operates in a similar space. As I like my comedy fairly clean, Bargatze would be my guy right now as well. -

I started to reply to this, but there are so many things wrong with these statements on so many levels that I decided not to. -

Good to go. Man, this field this week at Pebble is amazing compared to recent years. Should be some good golf this month. -
OK. Which ones? I guess an argument could be made for Stafford when healthy, but who else? Purdy has done great this year, but if Lamar had those weapons, the Ravens would have won yesterday. So...who else? Prescott? Hurts? Herbert?
-
This. People love to throw labels like choke and flop on players and occasionally, they're deserved. Lamar did start pressing in this game as I think his desire to win was off the charts. Hard lesson to learn.
-
It isn't going to be better, but it still may be enough. There were plenty of things that could be cleaned up in that game that didn't have a thing to do with Lamar. He's good enough to get to a Super Bowl and win it. Just needs a few breaks, as most QBs do.
-
Campbell didn't choke. But, he clearly lacked an understanding of the difference between regular season and playoff football. Fourth down stops in playoff games, particularly on the road, create hope and momentum. And, you HAVE to get the game to 27-27 when you have a chance to. It's wasn't a choke. It was just a couple of very poor decisions from a guy who sometimes thinks more with his balls and his heart rather than his brain.
-
Lamar Jackson is one of the top five QBs in the league. He doesn't suddenly suck. But, his game has limitations and the Chiefs found a way to mute many of his strengths as good teams do. Who would you rather have at QB than Lamar? Mahomes, Allen....and then maybe Burrow if he could stay healthy. That's about it. Lamar is not the best QB in the league. Fine. But, he's better than 27-28 other starters.

WHAT IS CAMPBELL DOING????? -
This is something I like to post on site in early January and then update it every few weeks for a couple of months. The first edition assumes minimal team changes for the following players (which isn't realistic) and does not include potential rookies. This is just a glimpse of what a redraft (non-PPR) might look like for 2024 based upon what is known today. It is meant to generate some discussion, so feel free to disagree and/or offer up alternative choices. QBs are also valued a little higher by me based on some of the scoring systems I play being QB-friendly. Round One: 1. Christian McCaffrey 2. Tyreek Hill 3. Justin Jefferson 4. CeeDee Lamb 5. Bijan Robinson 6. Kyren Williams 7. Travis Etienne 8. Ja'Marr Chase 9. Jonathan Taylor 10. Breece Hall 11. A.J. Brown 12. Jahmyr Gibbs Round Two: 13. Amon-Ra St. Brown 14. James Cook 15. Nick Chubb 16. Josh Allen 17. Cooper Kupp 18. D.J. Moore 19. De'Von Achane 20. Keenan Allen 21. Alvin Kamara 22. Davante Adams 23. Rachaad White 24. Saquon Barkley Round Three: 25. Mike Evans 26. Jalen Hurts 27. Isiah Pacheco 28. Sam LaPorta 29. Puka Nacua 30. Travis Kelce 31. Raheem Mostert 32. Derrick Henry 33. Deebo Samuel 34. Lamar Jackson 35. James Conner 36. Brandon Aiyuk Round Four: 37. Joe Mixon 38. Garrett Wilson 39. Nico Collins 40. Kenneth Walker 41. Dak Prescott 42. Patrick Mahomes 43. Jordan Addison 44. C.J. Stroud 45. Josh Jacobs 46. Justin Herbert 47. David Montgomery 48. D.K. Metcalf Honorable mention: Najee Harris, Tony Pollard, D'Andre Swift, Austin Ekeler, DeVonta Smith, Amari Cooper Thoughts??

I feel very strongly that this issue is going to cost the democrats dearly at election time. Not just with respect to the top of the ticket, but down ballot as well. I hear people's frustrations about it all the time in the circles I frequent and many of them are very independent/neutral in their political stances. I think the democratic party has yet to tune in to how much this issue has people upset. If they don't figure it out soon, it's going to be a blood bath in November and not in their favor. -

Mike McCarthy Returning as HC for Dallas
Fumbleweed replied to Mike FF Today's topic in FFToday Board
I think the pressure Jones puts on the team with all his antics and statements contributes to them being so tight at playoff time. They had the talent to go further this year, but crumbled under that pressure seemingly. I think McCarthy coming back is fine for Dallas as I don't think anyone better than him is available per se. At least as was rightfully stated, no one that will work with Jones and all the baggage he brings to the process. -
Does Dallas have to make the Conference Championship for McCrappy to keep his job?
Fumbleweed replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Good call. Yes. I forgot about that because they had such a poor regular season that year compared to the year before. I guess I was thinking more about Schottenheimer in Kansas City than San Diego. There, the dry spell was pretty severe after he left. -

Fumbleweed replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Always a risk to change coaches after highly disappointing losses. The Chargers have never been the same since they fired Schottenheimer. That was always the knock on him- that he couldn't win in the playoffs. But, after he left, the team couldn't even make the playoffs. The Cowboys played like a team under enormous pressure. They played tight and the Packers clobbered them. They need to find a way to stay loose next year when the postseason rolls around or they'll get boat raced again. I think McCarthy is a good coach, but he's got to figure that out. What's hard to believe is that Quinn made the defensive calls he made vs. Green Bay. That was the great oddity of the game itself. -
Not acceptable behavior for a presidential candidate
Fumbleweed replied to IGotWorms's topic in The Geek Club
If I vote for him in the primary, then yes I am. If I vote for him in the general election, then no. I'm voting to save the country from being in the hands of the crazy, reckless, completely off-the-rails, no common sense, tear-the-country-down-piece-by-piece, leftist democratic party. Hope that helps. -

Fumbleweed replied to IGotWorms's topic in The Geek Club
Never said he's "my guy". Never will most likely. But, I will hold my nose and vote for him over the alternative at present. That doesn't make me "okay" with anything. Just choosing the lesser of two evils when it comes to governance. -

Fumbleweed replied to IGotWorms's topic in The Geek Club
Trump is an immature, childish jerk with responsible/sound policy implementation for the most part. Biden is less immature and less of a jerk seemingly, but with horrible policy and horrible policy implementation across the board. I choose #1. But, it's in spite of the former and because of the latter. I choose government officials based on policy decisions. -
I was thinking about this the other day. I am conservative politically, but some of my favorite music comes from very liberal artists. Like Jackson Browne for example. Doesn't bother me. I'm not going to stop listening to you if you have a different set of political views than I do. Great music is great music.

The re-emergence of Villegas is a cool story. I thought about him with each of my last two picks.

Looking Ahead to Redrafts 2024: First Four Rounds
Fumbleweed replied to Fumbleweed's topic in FFToday Board
Richardson is such an interesting fantasy prospect. I agree that he'll be one to snatch up in a redraft this summer. As for Henry, it's hard to say if he's truly done or not. Would a change of scenery do him some good? Possibly.
