And you know that your expectations of a 'clean house' aren't necessarily going to match what his expectations are, right? It's not that you have to let some things go, but at some point you might have to accept that it may not be perfect, but it's good enough. Also, it doesn't sound to me like he's not willing to help, but only asking you to be specific about what you want him to take care of. So, be specific and tell him what he can do.

Have you talked with him and stressed that your asking him to pitch in more around the house and with the kids isn't just you nagging him, but letting him know that you seriously need his assistance for your own health and well being? I'm sure he's very aware of your past depression problems, so let him know that they are re-surfacing and you really need his help to stay ahead of it all. Because he cares about you, I'm sure he'll be supportive. I know that depression is very real and not something to take lightly. If you want to pull through without meds, more power to you and by all means - do it! It's a challenge, but life is like that. If you treat yourself just as good as you treat the people you love, you'll probably begin to feel better about yourself.
