What's everyone's plans this year for the holiday? Traveling? Hosting at your home? I will be spending Thanksgiving day busy in my kitchen getting everything prepared for the following day when my family will be coming over to my place to celebrate. (can't get everyone together on Thurs, so we're having it Friday instead). Looking forward to it. Hey BierMeister, if you're still lurking.... have any good recipes to share? Maybe some good wine recommendations?

I'm sure my stand won't win me any popularity votes among the female posters here, but that's okay with me. I'm all for equality but I think that our nation is generally wired to believe that men are more authoritative figures and that women are driven too much by their emotions. I can't speak for all women, but I have to admit that I agree somewhat. Our society as a whole is not ready for a female president and neither am I. With the state our country is currently in, this is absolutely NOT the time to take a gamble with something so important. Maybe someday I'll feel differently. Like I said, not a popular response, I'm sure... but my .02 cents.

God help us. Also: Yes, I would be uncomfortable with a female president. Liberal or Conservative.

Yes. Why not just ask her? You can spend a lot of time trying to figure out where she is in her head about the two of you, but why waste your time making assumptions and playing a guessing game? If you're worried about coming across too aggressively, just be sure to keep it simple and light-hearted.
