After 70+ sacks last year Eagles fans had reason to believe the DL was going to be insane. It wasn’t. If you’re going to quote me put a little effort into it.

I thought the big issue wasn’t the DL. Offenses figured out that the back 7 couldn’t stop anyone and made it a point to get the ball out of the QB’s hands immediately. The Eagles got murdered on slants and against TEs. The DL just got frustrated and worn out.

It was definitely underwhelming. Jalen was unblockable for half the season before he fell off like everyone else. I don’t remember saying the DL was unblockable. They definitely were blockable this year.

Jalen Carter could get arrested tomorrow and never play another down of football and Howie would still have a job. That’s why the Eagles drafted him. A lot of GMs picking that high are on the hot seat. They’d rather make the safe pick than take a big swing and possibly look bad. Carter fizzled at the end of last season but he showed flashes of brilliance. He and Jordan Davis will be expected to develop into more consistent pros in year 2-3. They have the talent to be among the best interior DL pair in the league.

Understood. When I had my 12 y/o Boston terrier put down 3 years ago I kept wondering if I was pulling the cord too soon. In hindsight I probably kept him going longer than I should. Tough decision but you’ll do what’s best for your boy. Sorry to hear it.
