Not acceptable behavior for a presidential candidate
MDC replied to IGotWorms's topic in The Geek Club
I feel like we’re living in different universes here. The corporate globalist class you talk about disliked Trump because he’s a vulgarian who crashed their party. They got everything they wanted out of him anyway in the form of tax cuts, deregulation and his anti labor policies. Trump’s entire admin was full of the same corporate shills and Ivy League insiders you’d find in any admin. The only group that may have made out better during the Trump years was the religious right, since he packed the courts SCOTUS on down with Christianist weirdos. The working class hero malarkey was a campaign strategy devised by Bannon. Trump’s lack of support for unions and anti-labor policies on every issue speak for themselves. He is 100% about Trump, and the chief qualification for working for him is kissing his ass. If you want to argue this is no different than Biden or anyone else fine. The idea that he’s on the side of the working class is a laugh. He spent 40 years defrauding them. -

From my POV, Trump’s policies (tax cuts, deregulation, deficit spending) are boilerplate GOP. The only thing that makes him any different from a Jeb or Romney is that he’s more obviously a colossal ass hole, and that seems to be the appeal. I won’t vote for Biden either fwiw. -

OK just wanted to know what you thought. Most Trump supporters here disagree. -

Do you think this was othering Haley on her ethnicity? -
If Peefoam was a pilot everybody would get off the plane. Because everyone hates Peefoam.

As an outsider looking in I think the Cowboys coaching is a bigger issue than the talent.

I thought Dallas was a Top 5 team all year but figured they’d lose on an ugly turnover, bad penalties and/or clock mismanagement in the NFCCG. I never thought they’d get rolled by a wild card in Round 1. But I liked it.

Quick twitch to violence.

I voted Yes. Lotta racist Trumpers here.

Nobody who watches MSNBC was going to vote for Trump anyway. -
He’ll quit when Taylor tells him to quit!
-
Drew Lock and Tyrod Taylor torched the Eagles D too. I’d pump the breaks on Baker a little.

Kelce can still play at a high level but he seems like an interesting guy who has things going on outside of football. He’s been Year to Year for a few seasons and Philly already drafted his understudy / heir. It’s probably time for him and Fletcher Cox to go. I think Brandon Graham and Lane have another year left.
-
I figured this was coming. Fletcher Cox is probably next. Sad to see him go but it was time.
-
Won’t matter in hindsight but that basically meant Philly needed fast stops and 2 TDs + 2 point conversions on consecutive drives. Not a gamble I’d have made!

I’m normally a fan of being aggressive but I’d have taken the points there.

I had no expectations and yet I’m still underwhelmed.

After decades of advocacy, suicide deterrent finally comes to the Golden Gate Bridge
MDC replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
The study I saw showed that a 30-day waiting period for gun purchases reduced handgun suicide by >10%. I bet some people attempted handgun by other methods but some of them probably didn’t reattempt at all because (like you said) the most lethal option wasn’t readily available. I saw a short documentary on suicides at the Golden Gate Bridge years ago. 39 people have survived jumping from it vs. 2000 dead, which makes that jump about as lethal as a shotgun blast to the head. They interviewed one survivor who said he regretted his decision the second he jumped. He somehow survived with minimal injuries. -

Even better if there’s some stats to back that up.
