Lot of problems to point to but I think our overall system of government is too large and the federalist style of government leads to gridlock and encourages politicians to do nothing. There is no accountability because nothing can get pushed through Congress and signed into law unless it’s completely watered down with “compromise.” So we have 2 parties that more or less agree on all the big ticket items that matter and spend their time bickering about wedge issues to keep the base engaged.
